What being dragged out exactly? I'm in UK.

It would be 50/50 mate, that's the starting point anyways. Unless you can prove that any money you put into it ( deposit etc ) came from.non matrimonial funds. I'm going through the exact same thing at the moment where I'm trying to get my 60k deposit back and then split the rest. The mortgage was only in my name though and my solicitor told me I'd stand no chance if it was joint. I'm in Scotland though so the law differs from the rest of the UK. You need to speak to a lawyer and most will tell …

Ah thanks so much buddy. I really enjoyed reading that and it's it's really helped me. That's why coming on here is really good for healing, so many great takes and opinions. This place is where the good guys live. Wish I could buy you all a beer. 🍺

That's great bro, good advice. Self improvement is the big aim for me this year. Along with getting my cash back from the separation and buying a house. It's a long road and it'll probably get worse before before it gets better but all we can do as men is create the best version of ourselves.

Bravo my man, a very good take on things. I totally agree with you are saying. I kept thinking to myself I should've done this and I should've done that but in the end as you say it really wouldn't have made any difference. I was desperately unhappy towards the end of our relationship but couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger on the account of losing my family life, seeing my kids everyday etc. So when she pulled the plug I panicked as my kids, home & life I had built up flashed before my ey…

You're right dude, I was being pathetic and a bit of a simp. I just think I was still in love with what I had rather than with her. The loss of my family life was what was upsetting me the most I guess as I just wanted to be with the mother of my children. But she has shown she's a spiteful bitch and that's the kick I needed.

How you work that one out? I'd have known if she was.

I don't think I could even if I wanted to bud. She made it pretty clear today that I was of no interest to her at all and now after the altercation with her son it's pretty much cemented that. I had a tiny glimmer of hope that I might get her back one day but as I saying my previous post that was me clinging onto the old her and our old life which is now definitely gone. So even if I won the lottery she'd never ask me to take her back.

Yeah I understand what you're saying, however I never had the best relationship with them as they were fairly difficult kids and that's why it took 8 years before I moved in with her as I had reservations about them which proved to be correct. Ultimately though I reasoned with myself that I was in love with their mother and I wouldn't have them forever. It's ironic that we should split just as they both moved out.

Ah thanks my man. I'm 48 and starting again, fills me with a bit of fear but I'm hopeful I'll navigate that. Sad to hear about your marriage being like that, mines was full of love and happiness for the most part but it all started to go south in the last few years. I'll hold on to the memories I have of the good times we shared, as the person she has become I just don't know. I do feel my wife used me in certain aspects too but I don't want confirmation of that I just want to leave it all behin…

That's a great story and gives me hope. I'm in the UK, specifically Scotland so the laws a little different here but my situation seems similar to yours. My wife came into our marriage with nothing but wants half of everything even though a fair portion of it is non matrimonial assets. Her lawyer is a real bitch and specialises in getting women what they want, she's the most expensive family lawyer in town and the most aggressive. However I'm just gonna stand my ground and refuse to give up what…
