1	What's inside the gap? Women tend to go into professions we'd associate as "nurturing" like teachers and nurses. One way to explain that: our culture has always undervalued the working-class man. We expect him to emulate values like ruggedness, individualism, stoicism, etc. Maybe partially because in all generations men had been, in some form, drafted and sent to war. 1	What's inside the gap? I don't agree with this. I don't deny the math, but the reasoning behind the numbers is questionable. Do women choose lower-paying jobs because of innate biological differences between the men and women instead of cultural? Personally, I think it's mostly cultural. But regardless, our society undervalues women's jobs because we undervalue women's labor. That's not me saying we don't undervalue men in our society in many ways. We do.
