In my experience talking about it doesn’t usually help all too much. It just means my problems are slightly spread around a bit more; but rarely makes any odds. But it’s great to have that option I think a lot a lads our age feel like they are neglected. I definitely feel that too. Plus life is a depressing drag, LOL

TBF Reddit in general is an echo chamber. It’s the whole setup of it that makes it that way. Aye. It does. Personally, I don’t have the best track record in support groups (I usually end up over sharing or saying nothing). But just cause they don’t work for me, doesn’t mean the same for others. By gate-keeping I mean trying to control the narrative of the convos, here. I mean, if they just want to surround themselves with others and feel a bit less lonely, or just want a chat; nothing wrong with that. They don’t need a “reason” to be there. I was thrown out of a talking therapy group for missing one single, initial phone call appointment. I was neglected by my GP for months after I was out of medication and in a major depressive/ suicidal state. I reached out to several services and charities. But they could offer much in the way of support. When you boil it down~ there’s a lack of support for people with mental health issues

There is definitely an issue with men standing up for one another’s issues. Men in society are conditioned to put others’ needs before their own. This could be part of the reason. Men shouldn’t have to make a doctors appointment for gender based health issues, when women have them made for them. For example, in the UK, women get appointments for cervical cancer screenings and mammograms made for them when they reach a certain age.
