Being raped by the law is more likely to kill you than actual rape and it's obviously draining to have your life slowly stripped away from you bit by bit. And there is no recourse. Imagine being beaten physically, emotionally, losing your friends and family and being punished for defending yourself sometimes by serving time, often by paying your perpetrator. This is, of course, an actually valid point, but it doesn’t nullify the fact that the threat of forceful rape stands mostly against females…

5-10 years in prison is enough of a threat to scare off anyone trying to get someone in trouble for something they didn’t do. Plus giving them life in prison is an exaggeration and a waste of tax dollars. In addition, charging false accusations as a felony would also hurt them socially and economically in the long run.
