I wonder what are the exact demographics of these subs. It's pretty clear that these subs are largely female. But at the same time, I think many are young and quite immature as well. They don't see it obviously which explains the reasons behind why the top comments are almost always very short while long comments which address issues from POVs of both people involved aren't much upvoted. Also most young people (of both genders) have become heavily reactionary.

I'm not from US but is this even possible ? Circumcision isn't illegal right ? Those fb posts are definitely weird, I know but they're simply saying that their sons got circumcised.

Yeah exactly lol. Insert that "first time ?" meme. But I have a small feeling that despite what people think, DNC will see this and take actions to repair the damage of alienating young men.

Even a sub like mildly/extremely infuriating will help out. Most people in Reddit are against pedophilia.

You can see the sub but you can no longer interact with it. I'm not sure what exactly is the difference between banning and restricting. But I don't think people can post any newer posts.

This is a pretty complex issue, but the "cis het white male" has been a very popular term throughout the discourse around gender and race. I think some white men still do have some privileges over minorities but I can hardly think of any major privileges they can have unless they're very rich and powerful. But even then the average working class man is blamed for privilege and patriarchy. It's a hard discussion to have. But I'm curious to know what others think of it. I also think that the bond …

Well can you post a single thing that supports your notion i.e. Republicans are better for men ? By the way I never said they're the absolute best. But I've never seen them addressing any such problem during this campaign.

Genuine question : Where exactly have Trump stood on men's well being ? Workers' rights and Union rights ? Immigrant men's rights ? Draft ? (They were the one who said that they didn't want their daughters to be drafted) Rights of men who belong to racial minorities ? (Remember he wanted to execute central park 5 boys and didn't change his mind whatsoever at all) Republicans support death penalty which may put many men who may probably be exonerated at some point under grave risk too. And how do…

Yeah I 100% agree with you. So many straight men and boys still think that the validity of their existence depend on their relationship status. I think it's a really negative mindset. Parents and teachers should plant a picture where boys can be independent and live the best life possible just like girls can.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates14/09/24 08:11 PM
4

That maybe a reason. But what I got from the article is how the difference of masculine expectations between straight boys and gay boys may play a major part here.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates14/09/24 07:45 PM
14

I also saw a research recently done in some Scandinavian country, which basically said that better the gender equality in a country is more distinct the male dominated and female dominated fields will be. For example, men will continue to go into careers like STEM while women will continue to go into careers like teaching. But in countries with lesser equality, women will try more to get into traditionally male dominated fields. https://arstechnica.com/science/2018/02/globally-women-tend-to-avoi…

use archive.ph to bypass it. Actually the article does some pretty good comparisons about how the "masculine" roles differ between gay men and straight men which according to them is a reason why the education gap has occurred.

Aren't most of those points usually brought up by right wingers ? So I'd say that they are typical right wing talking points rather than actual misandry. Also they are the biggest racists you can find.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates03/09/24 01:48 PM

That's exactly why I picked him. There seems to be some exaggerated hate against celibate young men especially in social media platforms like Reddit. So that's why I said that if these young men change up their minds, on how they can live without women, then it'd be great.

I really hope that so many problems men face could be solved if men as a whole stopped desperately chasing after women and dating. But this needs to be come organically and naturally. If not you'd end up with a bunch of very violent incels like Elliot Rodgers. Men need to understand that their validity doesn't depend on their relationship status or girlfriends.

Unfortunately the guys he talks about such as manosphere podcast bros have a louder voice and there's a significant lack of serious left wing progressive men's advocacy voices. Having said that, I really like to listen to Scott Galloway's and Richard Reeve's videos. What's terrifying me personally is that these guys' have been bringing these issues up since a long time and we still haven't seen any viable solution.

Most people in these subs are women users and they will obviously be much more biased when it comes to their gender. I think it's fair that women are more cautious around men/ relationships and I think we should be too, more so than men usually are. So they will always look at things in their POV. So it's hard to decide what's exactly right in their situation. Yeah the part where you said about people suggesting communication in other instances is true here too. But at the same time, taking from…

Extreme Misogyny To Be Treated As Terrorism Under Yvette Cooper's New Crackdown (msn.com) From the article : The home secretary’s plans include making it a legal requirement for teachers to refer students they suspect of extreme misogyny to the government’s counter-terror programme, Prevent.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates19/08/24 07:23 AM

I read an article about this where teachers have a duty to report a student if he says anything misogynistic and then it will be treated as a terrorist threat. Wtf is that ? They're literally subjugating the freedom of speech and if anything needs to be done for the student, it must be discipline and teaching him how to be respectful. Not being put on a terror watch list. I wonder how this is helpful either. Actions like this will only increase the hate and resentment.

Feminism has become so broad recently. A self-made millionaire woman in Wall Street may very well be a feminist. But she may be disliked heavily be progressive far-left feminists just because she's rich. So there's definitely a difference here.

Yeah I know. But I don't think the average man is anywhere near the power to enforce it. Most of the times "male privilege" which comes from patriarchy is hold by rich and powerful, often cis het white men. Other than that, I can't think of a normal man like me, you or anyone here trying to control or police a woman's life. So I do agree with your comment 100%.

Yeah I hear you and I want to specifically comment on the education rates of men right now. I often worry a lot about this and future seems really bleak for men right now. With AI and automation on the rise the few men who work in manual and physically hard labor will be gone or reduced by a significant number too. Unless there's a radical reformation on educating young men and boys, men are going in for a very hard time. There are plenty of studies showing that a college grad is more likely to …

Yes, but still my comment above is true and I don't know why is it downvoted when I simply stated the facts. K-12 has always been like this and men outnumbered women before, but not now. This is going to be a huge problem in the future. There are so many hypothetical scenarios in the thread, but this is something parents and young men can actually do to achieve a change.

That last paragraph is weird. If someone needs to dress like a woman, go ahead it's your right. But you're putting it as if men "have" to do that, if they need to be embraced by the current society. It's very toxic imo. If it ever comes to a point where society needs to police a whole demographic to dress or act in a certain way, then it's a society on a downfall. Also what are you even doing here ? Just let these people have their own community. You don't have to come up here with your opinion …

Why hasn't anyone here addressed how lazy young men have recently become ? Men's enrollment in colleges are at a steep decrease. When women take more and more college degrees especially in degrees like law and education (which they've already outnumbered men), they can easily get into more political positions and establish more and more "overcorrective" justice initiatives which will be much more harmful for men. We seriously need to encourage and motivate the youth to learn such skills like law…

good times Why did you put 1970 Islamic revolution in Iran as good times ? They're literally killing a young man every week and even a young teenage girl can't walk in the streets freely. This is not what good times mean. Pre 1970 was a prosperous era for both men and women.

Ok I'll be honest. I don't really think she's the exact female version of Andrew Tate. Most of her points in X are quite similar to ones I've seen here in Reddit. Tate literally encourages men to beat women, cage them and so many violent bullshit and he even did so very publicly. Not just that, Tate is even accused of human trafficking and rape. Most of her points are related to men being "violent", "abusive" and same shit that men in general are accused everyday of. But still that's not even cl…

I'm a brown skinned person, but not African American. Yet, when the white women who complain about patriarchy use the term "slavery" to describe what they've been going through (actual discriminatory acts like voting, but still the word is too much) I always roll my eyes. They have no idea what slavery even was and how badly POCs (both men and women) were treated.

You guys are a team. Why do you let your husband do whatever he needs with your son? Your son is his own individual even if he's still small. Communicate with him and tell him strictly that as the mother you oppose this procedure. If he loves you and your son, he will understand. Your son can get the surgery himself once he becomes an adult. Convince him of those facts.

First of all, "girl things" or "boy things" don't define your masculinity. If you prefer to do stereotypical "girl things", that means you're not insecure about your masculinity. But I can see that the parenting style may have influenced you a bit, and you want to change. Not the OP, but I think it's pretty obvious when you look at the negative stereotypes against black people. Almost all of them are actually targeted at black men rather than the entire black people. For example, crime rates and violence is largely concentrated around black men, mainly due to poverty, systemic racism in some instances, or fatherlessness in homes. Some of these folks commit crimes like shoplifting and theft for the sole reason of feeding their families.

Schumer has already said that he'll not let it go past the senate. He said it specifically for the decision to automatically register men for the selective service which the house passed some days ago. The best way to move forward is to completely abolish draft.

No human being regardless of the gender has any idea on what constitute as the "burden". If they feel enough trust in their partner, the other will surely open themselves up. If you weren't prepared to hear them, well then that's a problem you have to deal with later.

If you find interacting or communicating with someone even if they are of your own family, you are 100% in the right to either completely cut off or to avoid any communication with them at all. If you can call them out on it and see their reaction. Your decision to whether minimize interacting with them totally depend on how they'd respond to it. There's no bound of what gender they are or what relationship you have/had with them, as long as it helps you mental well being.

Honestly, I'm seeing this very rarely nowadays. The trend of this statement quickly went down especially due to its blatant sexist and racist idea against not just men, but other queer groups like trans and basically every other minority who had been historically discriminated. I think the people who used this term realized how stupid this is since actual "inclusivity" doesn't just prefer women, but also men, non-binary, trans people with their own sexual orientations and men from other ethnic g…

I agree. More the number of safe spaces for men to seek mental health, better their lives will be. I'm still seeing "man up" comments here and there even in this sub and even saw a recent anti-therapy thread. I don't think such actions are healthy at all. If you have any mental health struggle, please seek therapy with whatever psychologist that you find comfortable. Most importantly make sure that they understand you as well.

Yeah. The college entrance system, where I come from (Sri Lanka) is purely based on an academic level / local AL exam results and there's no gender imbalance even when it comes to generally male-dominated fields as they call in west such as STEM. Even though countries like ours are still quite backward when it comes to issues regarding abortion and other social constructs, the push for academics is very egalitarian between both genders and there's literally no quota system as they do in US. Yeah I think so. But at the same time, there's a steep drop of college admissions among men, not just in US but in the entire west. So I'm sure that , these divisions among men and women will continue to grow.

/r/PurplePillDebate16/05/24 08:24 AM
3

I'm surprised about it too. The gap between men and women who want to pursue money and power is 16% with women higher in number. I think women in general are more driven to it, since that's the easier way to be independent. But at the same time, 54% of them prefer their partner to be the breadwinner.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/05/24 08:21 AM
5

I'm surprised that no. of women who want to pursue power and money is higher than the no. of men. I know that it's a good reason especially to be independent in these times. But I expected to see it almost 50% on both sides, but it was 16% lower when it came to men.

OP made the same post using a woman instead of man, and the most of the responses from men were "yes, I would try". Most comments in this post by the women are a direct "no, I won't". I didn't say they are unrelated, I just responded to OP's question on how men's issues are sometimes presented and perceived in women's / other spaces. Above is just an example of how easily the way some people use it to present these issues, get addressed by other people (ones in other subs).

Yeah I 100% agree with you. By the way, have any of you written any letter to a senator/ any representative about these issues men face ? I agree that there's some opposition to it even from some other men. But one thing I've seen regarding these issues is that outside men's spaces, or in women's spaces, some men bring up these problems in comparison to the problems they discuss. A woman who advocates for abortion, which is a basic human right is still a feminist. I don't think that's a bad thing at all. I get your concern about male spaces bashing women, but understand that a lot of those female bashing comes from a place of hurt and real abuse that men endured at the hands of women. If we want men to act like humans and fully express ourselves, we need to allow them to do so (within reason) and not expect us to be squeaky clean, whereas women are allowed to be humans. This is exactly why I said being specific about who did what is more important than a generalization. The reason why some space…

I know what you're saying, but who generalizes whom shouldn't really be a competition right ? As I've mentioned here, we should address our own problems more without bashing at or generalizations. I'm sure spaces like these will be fine if we did just that. I think the best way to approach this is how men (or anyone in general tbh) should try to find comfort in their own solitude. For example, I prefer watching a movie or a TV series when I feel alone. When I'm really attached to a movie I love, I don't feel alone. I feel like I'm immersed in what I watch. Same can be said about a video game or even reading a story book. But looking at the way the world goes, some of the shit they speak about aren't anything related to kinks. So this kinda scares me. For example, men are falling behind in education and colleges.
