So, I hear the same exact complaint from younger men speaking about women. So how does that work?
/r/PurplePillDebate18/07/26 02:22 AM

The prevailing idea in a lot of circles is that there is a genuine dearth of eligible men What does this even mean? Like a lot of men have "prevailing ideas" about women too. Does that just make those ideas automatically true?

Married women report higher levels of life satisfaction and are generally healthier then unmarried childless women. It's been discussed here before but the assertion that single, childless women are happier is based on a retracted claim by a guy named Paul Dolan. He misinterpreted a study in his book but before he could acknowlegde the error, news articles had already reported on it. Gallup and the General Social Survey have both done large scale studies on this though. They're pretty easy to fi…

How dare you bring nuance and logic into this conversation.

I’ve said this before and some women do not like to hear it but it’s actually a good thing if someone with unrealistic or superficial standards remains single. Because I don’t think a person with those standards will treat their partner well

What studies are you referring to? The most recent data I've seen suggests that dating-aged men and women both want relationships at roughly the same rate. The difference is that men desire short term relationships more, and women desire long term relationships more. There was one recent study showing that high school aged women do not want marriage as much as high school aged men, but that doesn't mean they want to be celibate and single the rest of their lives lol. And tbh, that kind of makes …

Men don’t want oral sex to “be the best,” they want it because it’s pleasurable. And many women also enjoy pleasuring their partners as well and thus enjoy giving oral to men. That’s why it’s important to find a generous lover. Like you can “change” your views about sex but if you go from a generous sexual partner, to a non-generous sex partner, then your pool of potential partners is going to be very limited.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/07/26 02:35 PM

Ok for sake of argument, swap out oral sex with vibrator/toys. My point still stands. Men don’t get anything out of it but they’re still actively doing it because it enhances the experience for women and it’s a dealbreaker *many women. Sure, women can change their mind about giving oral but that’s going to be a dealbreaker for a lot of men. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that either.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/07/26 01:25 PM

>At the same time, if you're promised that you'll get equal treatment, but then have to pay for and plan everything, and work a lot harder to get the same or similar result, you should leave. I wouldn’t even go that far. If you’re a generous sex partner, don’t date women that aren’t also generous sex partners. It’s really that simple.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/07/26 01:14 PM

I agree that comparison is not productive but most women would find no oral sex to be a deal breaker and for some reason, that’s totally acceptable.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/07/26 01:09 PM

With orgasms, yes. But that isn’t the only factor in overall sexual satisfaction. For instance, lesbian women report being the least satisfied with sexual frequency compared to bi and straight women. And there doesn’t seem to any difference between those groups when it comes to “general sexual satisfaction” (which goes beyond simply frequency and orgasms). This study does a better job of explaining it then I can so here it is. https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/19419899.2024.2360998#d1…

Actually, partnered/married people do report less loneliness. BUT almost every modern study suggests that men and women report the same levels of loneliness. And I think that just makes sense logically? Nowadays, a long term relationship is a much more calculated decision than in the past and there is much less social stigma around waiting for the right person to come along.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/07/26 06:19 PM
4

Then why would you bring it up in the first place?
/r/PurplePillDebate30/06/26 11:16 PM
4

Finding a partner in a non-western country is not human trafficking. If that's your definition, then quite literally anyone who married someone from a lower socio-economic class is a human trafficker.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/06/26 10:34 PM
11

So, it’s your opinion that women in non-western countries are incapable of consenting to a relationship with a western man? Are you sure you want to die on this hill?
/r/PurplePillDebate30/06/26 10:01 PM
18

I can’t even begin to explain how infantilizing (and borderline racist) it is to suggest that women in non-western countries are inherently incapable of consenting to a relationship. This is the best example of the horseshoe theory I’ve ever seen.

Have you searched the origins of the movement? Or do you just openly support bigots?
/r/PurplePillDebate30/06/26 09:52 PM

Is there not a societal pressure for men to display confidence as well?
/r/PurplePillDebate24/06/26 10:25 PM

This is just patriarchal conditioning rebranded. Red pillers wouldn't disagree with you here.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/06/26 10:21 PM

I don't put a ton of stock into the assertion that single women are doing great. Married women report being happier and healthier then single women, and there is no measurable gender difference in loneliness. Now, I think women are probably a little bit happier being single but certainly not enough to drastic cultural effects like you're describing.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/06/26 10:15 PM

The primary social media platform used by 4B movement members in SK (Womad) was created because the previous platform they used banned transphobic and homophobic slurs. This isn't some conspiracy against women, you can easily find this information online. It's so obvious that you haven't done an ounce of research on this topic.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/06/26 10:09 PM
1

It absolutely is a human right and I never said otherwise. I also have no issue with women following the 4Bs. If anything, I think women that follow the movement shouldn't be reproducing or dating/marrying men in the first place. They would be doing more harm to men (and society in general) by doing so. My issue is with the actions of it's members and the ideologies they've adopted. If you start doxxing and harassing innocent women and other marginalized groups, then I'm going to criticize you.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/06/26 10:00 PM
-2

4B was absolutely co-opted by western feminists lol. Most prominently after the Dobbs decision in the US. And honestly, 4B isn't even big in SK. It's more of a media sensation. Even high estimates suggest that it's a fraction of a percentage of the female population and certainly not enough to affect the birth rate.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/06/26 05:29 AM
1

4B means not associating with men in any romantic capacity. So the concept of a woman being in a relationship with a non-misogynistic man doesn't exist.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/06/26 05:24 AM
-3

Have you actually read about the 4B movement in South Korea? I would highly recommend doing so before responding (search "Womad"). Because it's not an "anti-misogyny" movement unless your version of that involves homophobia, transphobia, and harassing other feminist women that don't strictly adhere to the 4 B's. It's just a female incel movement.

>This is not true. I live in a blue state but in a red area, the only ones not getting play are conservative types. At least locally it’s really popular to claim you are independent or just don’t follow politics, usually indicating a Republican voter. People date/marry people that share the same values and come from the same background as themselves. This is a universal truth. And many people identify politically with one political party but behave differently in their personal lives. For exampl…
/r/PurplePillDebate24/06/26 01:48 AM

I agree. The 4b movement in SK is also objectively incompatible with Western feminism (i.e strong support for TERF and homophobic ideologies) and they’ve been known to harass women who don’t strictly adhere to the 4 b’s. Which is another reason it didn’t become popular in the West.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/06/26 01:22 AM

The only men who would be negatively impacted by the movement are very liberal/left-leaning men that would've supported the issues 4B complained about in the first place. Which is a bit ironic if you ask me.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/06/26 10:11 PM
-1

I mean, women say the exact same thing? And you even took it further than men and created an entire movement about it. And unsurprisingly, the 4b movement fizzled out in the West and in the country where it began (the birth rates in South Korea are actually rising now). I don’t even fully agree with the original poster but the idea that it’s just women opting out of dating is just laughable.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/06/26 09:13 PM
1

So how much money a man while dating spends determines a woman’s safety? Because I know you don’t actually believe that. And you think that men don’t also risk their dignity when they “invest” in a woman? Idk. Maybe I’m wrong here but if your goal to minimize risk for women while dating, reinforcing traditional gender roles and bio-essentialism is probably the last thing you should do. And it’s no surprise that countries with high levels of gender equality typically do not have rigid courting pr…

Idk what country you’re from but almost of half of women in the US voted “against their interests.”
/r/PurplePillDebate13/06/26 12:05 AM

Princess treatment is just repackaged gender roles because it means women being provided for. Which is why it’s contradictory because many women that seek it, also claim to be feminists. And I’m not sure if you’ve interacted with many dating aged men but they are literally opting out of dating for the exact same reasons. That’s why it falls on deaf ears when women say they’re opting out. The difference is that it’s socially acceptable for women to complain about it but not men.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/06/26 12:03 AM

Define “sub par”? Because men can’t simultaneously hold all of the power and wealth, while also being sub par. You have to pick a side.

You could literally say the exact same thing about young men? Funny how it’s brain washing and indoctrination when women are affected but not men. They’re always the aggressor. And dare I say “not all women?!” Is that your argument here? Because it sure looks like it.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/06/26 02:13 PM

I mean, I’m Gen Z as well. But I have a lot of younger Gen Zers in my family (both men and women) and I’ve heard directly from them. And yeah it’s anecdotal but when you hear the same social media rhetoric over and over again IRL, it’s fair to assume exists outside of the internet. And it’s not even attached to political parties anymore which is the craziest part. For example, a few of my younger family friends are pretty far left but they talk about wanting “princess treatment” and expect men t…
/r/PurplePillDebate12/06/26 02:05 PM

Yeah, that’s called ignorance. When you just assume that your bubble is perfectly representative of the entire population. Do you think social media is not influential?

45% of women voted for the “infringement” of rights? Did you just forget they existed? Maybe it’d be a good time to take accountability rather than “carrying the responsibility” or whatever that means.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/06/26 01:51 PM
6

Then maybe 45% of women in the US shouldn’t have voted for that? Like do you not realize how infantilizing it is to suggest that women have zero agency or accountability when it comes to decision making in the US?
/r/PurplePillDebate12/06/26 01:47 PM

Now you’re just making stuff up. I’ve been apart of many male focused charities and literally every single one was led by a man. There are also women-focused charities that have been led by men as well, does that mean men are doing the bulk of the charity work for women?
/r/PurplePillDebate12/06/26 01:44 PM

Almost half of the women in the US voted republican. You can’t say “women want XYZ” because that’s objectively not true. Half of you aren’t even aligned
/r/PurplePillDebate12/06/26 01:42 PM

I feel like you haven’t seen much dating/relationship content from younger women recently because you’re just objectively wrong. Maybe millenial women feel that money is less of an issue
/r/PurplePillDebate12/06/26 01:37 PM

Women that don’t have kids earn the same as men and women are literally more educated than men. Like what are you even talking about.

This is from a 2023 Gallup study: “The higher wellbeing of married adults relative to those who have never married can be found for men and women across all major racial/ethnic groups. Statistical models show that the association between marriage and wellbeing is also not explained by educational attainment or age.” Here's another 50 year longitudinal study from the General Social Survey conducted in 2022: “The GSS results showed that for women 18-55, married women were happier than unmarried wo…

Not according to the CDC and Medicare/Medicaid data. I actually can’t find a single study that never married women live longer. Do you want me to post the studies? They’re easy to look up as well
/r/PurplePillDebate09/06/26 12:22 AM

Married women also live longer. They live the longest out of every other relationship demographic
/r/PurplePillDebate08/06/26 10:05 PM

Why would you want to date that type of man in the first place? Having sex early on actually sounds like the perfect litmus test
/r/PurplePillDebate05/06/26 09:19 AM

There is more than one study on gender and loneliness and they say the same thing. I can post them or you can just look them up yourself very easily. And I’m well aware of what statistical significance is. That’s not my point. Something can be both statistically significant yet unimportant or impractical as support for an argument. I assumed someone that’s not from the lay world would understand that. There is no “widely known” study that single women are happier than married women. In fact, you…

If you’re speaking about “women” as a group in this context, it’s implied that you’re referring to a majority. And women “turning inwards” and making peace with themselves seems is definitely related to self actualization. Now you’re just being disingenuous
/r/PurplePillDebate04/06/26 08:25 AM
5

The study said that women were slightly more likely (like a 10-15% difference if I remember correctly) to seek support from friends and family. But that doesn’t explain why women report being just as lonely as men. If these communities exist, then loneliness would be lower. It’s that simple. And the vast majority of the dating/relationship advice I see from women on social media is based on “being centered” in the relationship
/r/PurplePillDebate04/06/26 08:20 AM
7

Believing that the majority of women are self actualized is quite literally the most egotistical thing you could possibly say.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/06/26 05:15 AM
9

Cool, then there's no need to constantly post about men not meeting your standards.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/06/26 05:06 AM

Men and women report loneliness at the same rate. Both also report having the same average number of friends. So you can tell yourself whatever you want but it's not reality
/r/PurplePillDebate04/06/26 05:01 AM

What percent of men do you think are actually incels lol? Do you not go outside ever?
/r/PurplePillDebate04/06/26 04:29 AM

It’s not weird at all. It’s a very real phenomenon. But I also think Asian men born in western countries get screwed over because of this perception as well. In the US, the demographic that marries outside of their race the most are Asian women.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/06/26 06:13 PM
1

No. Confidence is just a traditionally masculine trait. And tbh, I think many of the dating woes women face are a direct result of the over emphasis of this trait (and men do this too with traditionally feminine traits as well). It’s not realistic.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/06/26 02:34 PM
1

Not saying I necessarily agree with OP’s logic but the vast majority of women would put confidence at the top of their list of desirable traits. And it’s not like most men don’t value it either. They do. It’s just not nearly as important.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/06/26 05:16 AM

What is your source?
/r/PurplePillDebate02/06/26 03:44 PM

This is just not true in the West. According to government health (like the CDC and NHS), married women live longer than never married and divorced women. Feel free to look it up if you don’t believe me
/r/PurplePillDebate02/06/26 07:37 AM
14

The vast majority of simp behavior isn’t remotely feminist. It’s just repackaged gender roles (I.e. princess treatment). And I don’t really care if a guy is proud that he had to beg or spend money on his partner to go out with him, but don’t get upset when someone disagrees
/r/PurplePillDebate07/05/26 07:06 PM
1

I mean, the begging part would be simp behavior if you hadn’t already had a prior relationship.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/05/26 07:00 PM
3

Also, would you really want to date a man that slut shames you for that in the first place?
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/26 07:45 PM
3

I mean, I slept with my now fiancée early on. I also dumped women before her that played the arbitrary “waiting game.” And guess what? The ones that wanted to wait didn’t seem to have an issue waiting with other people as it turned out. I think the better message here is that it’s better to be single than to play games.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/04/26 06:59 AM
2

If you’re having casual sex while simultaneously looking for a serious romantic partner, then sex really isn’t that important as you say? And I don’t believe men or women compartmentalize those relationships because so many relationships start with casual sex and morph into romantic ones
/r/PurplePillDebate08/04/26 06:55 AM
2

There were also bars/saloons at railroad camps. Does that mean bar tenders built America? Like you've just devalued the term to mean any service that existed during the expansion of the US
/r/PurplePillDebate01/04/26 02:29 PM

Why not? It's literally no different then sex ed. Wouldn't t you want your kids to know about the benefits/risks? Or is that you're capable of understanding that it really isn't just like "any other job."

/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/26 10:23 PM

I mean, plenty of conservative men are in relationships. I feel like that’s the great irony of the 4B movement. You will fade out, but the guys you hate will marry and have kids.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/26 04:13 PM
3

Lmao I know about at least “bi” women that have never had a sexual (beyond kissing) or romantic relationship with another women. And I know that’s probably the case for you as well. Labeling yourself as queer doesn’t actually mean you’re queer. And statistically this is true as well. There are far more gay men than lesbian women. You think that’s just coincidence?
/r/PurplePillDebate20/03/26 01:37 PM
4

At work? Do you think that’s somehow representative of all of society? As public debate and discussion over the status of men in America continues, some have raised concerns about men’s struggles with loneliness. A new Pew Research Center survey finds that, compared with women, men don’t report that they feel lonely more often or have fewer close friends. https://www.pewresearch.org/social-trends/2025/01/16/men-women-and-social-connections/

I disagree that women as a whole are happier single. I think for older women, this is the case but definitely not true for younger women. Stats support this as well. Most of the time, it’s because they like feeling in control.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/03/26 04:29 PM

According to this 2023 study, men reported being bisexual or gay at a rate of 6% and women reported being bisexual or gay at a rate of 7%. That’s a negligible difference. And you’re actually making the opposite point you think you’re making. There are more women than would date a man, then men who would date a woman according to these stats https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2024/06/28/for-pride-month-6-facts-about-bisexual-americans/

I mean, the men currently dating today are the not the same men that lived in a time where women needed men to provide financially. That's what I think a lot of people miss when they're discussing historical patriarchy
/r/PurplePillDebate13/03/26 04:14 PM
4

Actually, the study found that more Gen Z women agreed with the statement "men should obey their husbands" then in past generations. It's a pretty faulty study but that's a different convo. To your other point. There are more bi-sexual women then bi-sexual men. But there are far more gay men then lesbian women. Also, many identify as bisexual but will still end up dating a man.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/03/26 04:08 PM

I really don't think you need to say all of this because the study is extremely misleading to begin with. It was a global study that included some pretty conservative countries like India, Indonesia and Turkey. And it doesn't even explain how they're making an intergenerational comparison.

I actually disagree completely. In the past, casual sex was less common but when it happened, it often turned into a marriage due to an unplanned pregnancy. I also think the term “girlfriend/boyfriend” didnt imply the same level of commitment as it does today.

Isn’t the crux of the original argument about how the situation-ship and the husband are treated though? Rather then putting everyone into a ranking system

If I like a woman both physically and emotionally, I wouldn’t hold off on sleeping with her to protect myself from the emotional fallout of her not feeling the same way in return. Why? Because at the bare minimum, I get to enjoy sex with an attractive person and there’s still a possibility romantic feelings develop. Like my fiancée and I started as a ONS turned casual relationship, and progressed from there. So many very successful relationships start this way too. And men that only care about p…

I mean, you're just wrong lol. The US is 1.62 and Australia is 1.64. But none of this changes my point whatsoever. Clearly courting style has nothing to do with fertility rate. But I also don't think you even understand what you're implying in your comments. Do you think women's mate value is based on whether they split the financial costs of courting? because women aren’t going to pay to date mediocre men who bring nothing to the table Why are you going on a date with a mediocre man that brings…

I think the expectations we put on men to fit gender roles also negatively impacts all areas of their lives. At least that’s what feminism suggests
/r/PurplePillDebate11/03/26 05:14 AM

Then men wanting women to meet unrealistic beauty standards and not be promiscuous is also not sexism. Right?
/r/PurplePillDebate11/03/26 05:13 AM

No. The natural result of women marrying men that make more money is that more women are going to make career sacrifices. Thats why they call it the “motherhood penalty”
/r/PurplePillDebate11/03/26 05:10 AM

Australians split dating expenses and they have far more sex and higher fertility rate than the US?
/r/PurplePillDebate11/03/26 05:08 AM
2

I’m not really sure what you’re getting at because no one here is suggesting that men are entitled to mate with women. Rather, it’s illogical to criticize men for hostile sexism while encouraging them to practice benevolent sexism. And you’re wrong that traditional courting is essential because in virtually every country with high levels of gender equality, traditional courting isn’t practiced. Most Western European and Scandinavian countries split dates.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/03/26 11:40 PM

It’s 33% more likely than the mean. That’s probably what you’re thinking of

/r/PurplePillDebate10/03/26 10:11 PM

So I presume you have no criticisms of societal beauty standards that women face or sex/slut shaming? After all, those are just preferences by men.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/03/26 10:08 PM

Your argument is that "men should do xyz in a relationship because nature dictates women's actions." So, why wouldn't the same logic apply to men? That's the fallacy of biological essentialist arguments. You're selectively applying it when it's convenient.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/03/26 10:04 PM

In the US, 55% of households have a male primary breadwinner, 16% have a female primary breadwinner, and the rest have roughly equal earnings. Is that not a result of both hostile and benevolent sexism?
/r/PurplePillDebate10/03/26 10:00 PM

It's actually the exact opposite. Today, any characteristic that is traditionally associated with masculinity has been deemed gender neutral.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/03/26 09:58 PM
5

Are you absolutely sure you want to make the biological essentialist argument here? Because I think 99% of women would not enjoy being apart of a harem or having your lives dictated by dominant male mating partners.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/03/26 09:56 PM
2

I think OP did a bad job of explaining it but women wanting men to fit a patriarchal gender role is sexism (which includes height, wealth, domineering personality, etc.). You can absolutely have those preferences but then you can't turn around and criticize male preferences.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/03/26 09:50 PM

The study you probably referring to found that women were "1.6 percentage points more likely to suffer from partner violence if they earn more than their male partner." Of course not. But the idea that every woman has a line of eligible suitors is just laughable because the number one complaint from women is that most of their suitors just want to use them for sex or they’re total weirdos. You literally live in a country where 50/50 on dates is the custom. The simping conversation doesn't apply to you.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/02/26 04:32 AM
6

Then you need to do the same for men? And that will never happen because a core tenant of feminism is eliminating patriarchal standards. But I think you're missing the overall point here. Not settling on physical attraction doesn't make you shallow. Women don't want to be settled for in that regard so why do you think men would?
/r/PurplePillDebate16/02/26 04:24 AM
12

I think you're confused. When I first met my partner, I was physically attracted to her and wanted a sexual relationship with her. Myself (and most men) just want that feeling in return. What happens is that some women (by their own admission) didn't feel that way about men they're in a LTR with but have felt that way with other men they've had casual relationships with. That's why "husband material" has negative connotation in some contexts.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/02/26 04:06 AM

Men are not arguing that paying for dates is harder than pregnancy. That’s a strawman. Men are arguing that “traditional” male roles (which includes courting) are not worth pursuing when most women are against traditional female roles. Not to mention, more and more women don’t want children in the first place, so it’s essentially a gamble to fund the entire dating process when the odds are so low.

Well unfortunately, your moral considerations don't have any relevance when you're using "nature" to justify human behavior. Nature doesn’t recognize rights, fairness, or harm against women, it only describes what happens. You can’t say “this is just how nature works” to defend one outcome, and then suddenly introduce morality when the outcome negatively impacts you.

This is just a made up fantasy in your head. Young single men and women make virtually the same when you compare median earnings. Both young men and women report the same level loneliness and report having the same number of friends. And both young men and women report a desire for romantic relationships at almost the exact same rate. I don't even agree with MGTOW ideology, but young men are absolutely deprioritizing or delaying romantic relationships.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/02/26 12:07 AM

Competition just means striving for a goal that others are also striving for simultaneously. an effort to prove you are superior and unique? Uniqueness doesn't inherently mean more competitive in business and sports. It's entirely dependent on what the goal/objective is. And chemistry is far more important then having superior traits when it comes to dating.

Even if this was true, poverty would have the same effect on women. And it's not true because there no evidence of this claim in the first place. That's because "toxicity" isn't a clinical diagnosis. I've never heard an actual married person agree with this statement because most monogamous people value fidelity and "single until married" is contrary to that. I think this is relatively straightforward. They'll move in, do all of the wifely duties (cooking, cleaning, caring, sex), and commit to a man fully, and then wonder why he doesn't propose. First off, caring for your partner and having sex isn't a "wifely duty." If you feel like those are "duties" then maybe you shouldn't be dating in t…

This is total BS. The vast majority of healthy relationships I’ve ever encountered (including my own) involve are not one sided. In fact, it’s the opposite. This goes for men and women. I’m not single so I’m not complaining but I would say it’s around half of women that still hold those values. Many women are politically liberal but culturally conservative (this is also the case Black and Hispanic Americans as well). But not addressing that phenomenon is antithetical to feminism as well
/r/PurplePillDebate22/01/26 10:45 AM

This isn’t entirely accurate. For one, there are far more gay men than lesbian women. And while there is a larger portion of bi women, 75% of them have no sexual history with the same sex (this is true for bi men as well). And secondly, there is contradictory evidence regarding your take on monogamy. Strict sexual monogamy as we know today may not have been prevalent, but that doesn’t mean early humans didn’t practice some form monogamy.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/01/26 10:39 AM

I’m not even agreeing with the OP here but I feel like if a woman is strongly expressing interest and all the man does is actually speak the words, they’re not chasing

Idk about that. There have been multiple online debates in non-manosphere spaces where there is a clear gender split. Like when this whole convo made it to Twitter/X, a lot of men understood that it may not be viewed as a compliment in certain contexts and a lot of women couldn't understand why that was. The manosphere has certainly hijacked the debate but there is nuance to this conversation. It some scenarios, it's very similar to women's critique of the madonna/whore complex

It's easy to figure out if your standards for "relationship material" are surface level. But you're not going to observe prominent character traits or gauge their level of emotional intelligence after a few hours.

Saying that it’s exceptionally rare for men to contribute to child care and domestic labor is such a chronically online take. Yes, women do more unpaid labor but the average is like 3-4 hours more per week when spouses earn the same. I also don’t think anyone is suggesting that women should marry homeless men lol. Your examples are clearly the extreme cases, which makes sense because it would make your argument much weaker if you added any nuance. And I think it’s “having your cake and eating it…

To play devils advocate, those same women have problem starting a fling with a guy who has the personality of a rock. I was fairly successful dating when I was single and I think a large part of that was just being attractive to some women. I think effort actually killed my chances on a few occasions.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/01/26 06:04 AM

I mean if you read the study, really all it means is that women 10-15% more likely to reach out to family or friends when they’re feeling down. I also just find it hard to believe that women have a “safety net” yet still feel just as lonely as men. It doesn’t really make sense
/r/PurplePillDebate15/01/26 05:31 AM

Women report loneliness just as much as men do: As public debate and discussion over the status of men in America continues, some have raised concerns about men’s struggles with loneliness. A new Pew Research Center survey finds that, compared with women, men don’t report that they feel lonely more often or have fewer close friends. However, men do seem to turn to their networks less often for social connection and emotional support. https://www.pewresearch.org/social-trends/2025/01/16/men-women…

Then what would stop people from simply having kids to receive a “wage” rather then because they actually want to have kids? What if someone just had a bunch of kids? Do you multiply that wage? If it were possible, it would’ve happened already at some point in human history.

It’s unlawful for an individual business to intentionally discriminate based on gender. If you’re analyzing the pay gap, you do it on a macro level. It’s not a specific policy, it’s a general sentiment. But there are many other factors besides this. I’m also not aware a study that has measured the same work, results, hours, experience, etc. so your hypothetical isn’t applicable either way. Think about how insanely complex that study needs to be, it’s unfeasible. In fact, many studies actually su…

Then why would there still be wage gaps in countries with strong social welfare programs for mothers? If your gripe is with capitalism, has there ever been a socialist/communist country where women held the same social power as men? Personally, I couldn’t care less if women choose to select men based on their earning capabilities. Because as I said above, it doesn’t change things for me in a patriarchal system. I’m in a LTR and I have a successful career.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/01/26 03:49 AM
3

Then you can’t really complain about the wage gap then? Like if the majority of women are selecting men that make the same or more so they can take time off their job to have kids, then companies will always favor men for career advancement and bigger roles. Obviously it’s not extreme IRL, but the effect is the same. Most men are still primary breadwinners, and this is the case even in countries that rank high in gender equity.

The starting salary of a teacher in Australia is double the starting salary of a teacher in the US and that’s not even an exaggeration. This is not realistic comparison. This is exactly why the term simp exists. Some women actively cheer on the phrase "his money is our money, and my money is my money." Men who date those women are usually simps unless money is literally no object (and that's a tiny percentage of men).

I disagree. I'm engaged and in a healthy relationship, and I would absolutely label someone a simp if they constantly give without reciprocation. The problem is that the term itself has been bastardized so it really depends on the context. I think for non-marital relationships, couples should go 50/50. Unless money truly isn’t an issue but that wouldn’t be the case for 99% of the dating age population. I’ve seen so many people hurt themselves financially (and emotionally) after moving in with someone and shouldering the financial burden only for the relationship to dissipate after a few months. But yeah I agree that if you’re married, money should be pooled together.

/r/PurplePillDebate30/11/25 10:17 PM

If I accused you of mugging me, presumably we would be questioned about it. And if there was any doubt, there wouldn’t be a presumption that you did it. This is the problem with your logic. No one has ever said believe all mugging victims because that would be just totally illogical. I’m not entirely sure what you mean by we don’t have problem with other crimes being reported? The vast majority of crimes to the person (assault, battery, etc.) are not reported. I have been assaulted and battered …

It’s not about systematic inequality. It’s the fact that in the MeToo era, a person can be put on trial by the public and have millions of people calling them a rapist, all because one woman lied for social media clout. That’s why it’s an issue. We’re told to “Believe All Women” and make the ridiculous assumption that all women are telling the truth all of the time.

In what world is it ethical to post a video of a naked person that could be dead?
/r/PurplePillDebate30/11/25 03:48 AM

Why shouldn’t she lose her job? She illegally filmed a naked person in their own and posted the video online for clout. Like I truly don’t understand why you’re choosing to die on this hill. This guy had millions of people calling him a rapist online all because she wanted to create a viral post.

They wouldn’t have charged her with multiple felonies if the video wasn’t clear evidence of her opening the door. I worked in a prosecutors during law school, so I’m not just talking out of my ass here. The fact that the video isn’t public yet has no bearing the validity of the evidence. The state usually doesn’t attach video evidence to the charging documents because they don’t have to, so it’s makes no sense to disclose evidence prematurely. Video evidence typically doesn’t become public until…

/r/PurplePillDebate29/11/25 06:43 PM

That’s because it’s part of an ongoing investigation. The prosecution is only going to attach what they need to charge her with the crime (in order to protect the investigation). A summary of the footage is all that’s required to establish probable cause. Hence why body cam footage is usually released long after the person is charged.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/11/25 06:38 PM

*No desire. But you should really re-read some of those comments. They’re literally saying they don’t care that the sex isn’t the best because the overall relationship is the best. I’m willing to bet that if you asked the partners of those women about the quality of their sex life, they’d say it’s lacking. I’d bet they’d say that they wish their partner was more uninhibited and passionate. Because I think that’s ultimately the issue with your mentality. Those women have no desire to make it better, because they’ve already had the best.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/11/25 10:55 AM

I saw a lot more comments that didn’t say that. That’s actually my issue with this topic. It seems like some women in those comment sections were in the belief that no one could top this one guy from their past, which is just a really bad attitude to have about sex
/r/PurplePillDebate29/11/25 10:47 AM

I don’t think anyone should get into a relationship thinking they have to be the best from the start. And there are certain categories where it’s not possible or practical. Or situations where it has absolutely zero impact on the relationship (like my fiancée’s ex was a wannabe rapper and I’m sure he could do that better than me lol). But sex and physical intimacy is an important category in a relationship. Not the most important, but for most people, it’s near the top of the list. And it’s an u…

/r/PurplePillDebate25/11/25 04:46 PM

There are other responses from women that didn't receive the same response as yours, why do you think that is? The topic was what could make dating better. Most of the things you mentioned weren't dating related. That's been my point the entire time.

Do you think rape is policed out and punished in rigid patriarchal societies? And no one is demanding women provide a service. But if you're going hold men to the standards of feminism and not yourself, then feminism will be taken less seriously as a whole. Basically, "do as I say, not as I do." and it's not just men vs. women initiating. It's a combination of that and many other traditional gender norms.

No. The point flew over your head. If men engaged in similar behaviors, would it be just a cruel fact of nature? Because last time I checked, those behaviors are socially condemned. And I know for a fact you aren’t interested in being apart of harem. You’re using a biological justification to justify women’s behavior, but you would never do the same for men’s behavior because it would have negative implications for women.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/11/25 07:28 PM

I should. I think she’d actually explain her viewpoints rather than being vague, and she would be a lot less jaded about dating.

and by extension, society - because allegedly 45% of 25-44 women will be single by 2030, women mysteriously aren't "settling" then. I don’t believe in hypergamy so I’m not sure what you’re getting but this projection is largely based on the fact that the age of first marriage is getting higher. Which makes complete sense to me. I had casual sex too. I slept with my now-fiancée very early on. Why? Because I desired her a lot. We basically started off as casual but realized we both wanted more. It’s literally that simple. If she was like “I like you but I’m going to wait to have sex but I’m also going to sleep with other people casually,” then I would’ve just moved on. Why is this difficult to understand.

Is it a double standard that male lions have harems and practice infanticide to secure mating rights? Isn't that "just nature" too? Or is biological essentialism only valid when it benefits women?
/r/PurplePillDebate21/11/25 06:37 PM

When it came to sex, I didn't "settle down" with my fiancee. That's the difference. If I'm having sex with the same person forever, they better be in the highest tier of attraction and compatibility. That's not something you should settle.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/11/25 06:32 PM

You know what the best way to combat that? Have sex with people you want to have sex with. Rather, then having sex with the hopes that someone will start a relationship with you.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/11/25 06:28 PM

In the context of sex, men are not settling down when they choose a partner. That's the difference. I don't even agree with the RP theory about this topic because it's too extreme. But I think a lot of women de-prioritize sexual attraction as they get older and that has consequences.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/11/25 06:23 PM

/r/PurplePillDebate21/11/25 05:56 PM

A person's attitude about how quickly they have sex is generally consistent. Hence, why some people are engage in casual sex, and others don't. And also why that attitude changes over time. And I'm really confused on what your overall point is lol. If you have an intense desire to have sex with one particular person, then why would choose not to have it with them but also have sex with other people you have less desire for?
/r/PurplePillDebate21/11/25 05:39 PM

I think that’s a fair statement if there’s consistency. But if someone is comfortable having sex with one particular person quickly, and not quickly with another, then I certainly think desire is a factor. The caveat would be that people change their attitudes about sex over time and mature, so it’s not a concrete rule.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/11/25 04:46 PM

I’m engaged but I appreciate your concern
/r/PurplePillDebate21/11/25 04:29 PM

Well, that’s extremely vague and overly broad. I’d love for you define “relational reciprocity,” because it doesn’t make much sense in the context you’re using it in. And if we’re speaking about the “dating world” here, I think men are the ones that do not receive reciprocity. Not women. It’s far more often the case where men are investing more time and resources while dating, and not receiving that in return.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/11/25 03:00 PM

Why is having or wanting to have sex quickly not an indication of desire?

Reciprocity? Like splitting the bill right?

At the extremes, yes. Like if you’re butt ugly and have a bad personality, it may not matter. You need to something else making you tolerable to be around lol. There’s definitely some missing info here.

If you’re a young single guy, the main barrier to finding a long term partner will probably be your career (unless you happen to find a woman who is ok with being a breadwinner and hasn’t already assumed that you won’t contribute domestically, which is extremely unlikely). So are you going to focus on…

Those skills won't set them apart because professional success and income is an early filter. You even said it yourself, women are demanding men that make more then they do. So if you make less then a potential female partner, you've already missed the first cut. And I think not wanting to go 50/50 on bills/expenses in a non-marital relationship is such a backwards mentality. The gender pay gap for single men and women under the age of 30 is virtually non-existent. I can understand men paying fo…

Well, I don't think men need specific educational incentives for STEM. but I think you're oversimplifying this issue. This becomes an uncomfortable topic for obvious reasons but there are some racial and socio-economic factors that need to be considered when it comes to male vs. female education as well. For example, white and asian men actually have a lower high school dropout rate compared to non-white hispanic women and black women. The average is skewed because black and non-white hispanic m…

I'm not sure but I think you can look at other countries that have strong social welfare systems and high levels of gender equity. For example, Nordic countries have lower rates of women in STEM related fields compared to other western nations, despite having done significantly more to achieve gender equity on a policy level. I would presume that there was a significant increase of female STEM representation after second wave and third wave feminist policies were introduced. But, it has likely p…

A couple things Personally, idc if women have the most interest in high earning men. I'm engaged and work in a high paying field so it's not really affecting me. However, it's still a patriarchal gender norm and it's been around since the dawn of time. So if you're not going to criticize that standard, then you can't really criticize patriarchal dating standards that men have (like age, beauty, purity culture, etc.). And I assume you would understand why men wouldn't go along with that. The stat…
/r/PurplePillDebate13/11/25 04:03 AM

Yeah that's a fair critique men in marriage but OPs solution is ineffective for young single men because women are still going to choose the provider in the end. That's the crux of my argument. Financial contribution is a deal breaker, domestic contribution is a factor.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/11/25 11:14 PM

Did you even read what I wrote lol? It can't come at the expense of other votes. That's the issue.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/11/25 10:40 PM

You're missing the point. If the solution is that women should marry providers (rather then women having higher standards when it comes to domestic labor), then what incentive do men have to change their attitude? In the context of dating, traditionally feminine skills are useless if women are just going to date a provider in the end.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/11/25 10:33 PM

I'm not criticizing women for having that standard. 50/50 means allocating effort to both finances and domestic labor I'm criticizing this part of the OPs post: "This is the primary reason GenZ women are demanding provider partners and increasingly dont want to go 50/50. it's because when men don't provide, they don't compensate for it by fulfilling traditionally feminine roles. " Men have zero incentive to take on traditionally feminine roles as a means to attract a partner because like OP sugg…
/r/PurplePillDebate12/11/25 08:42 PM

I said this in my other comment but 16% of women are the sole or primary breadwinners. 55% vs. 16% is a pretty large difference. More women are in the workforce but it would be wrong to say that men don't play the primary financial role.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/11/25 08:27 PM

I wholeheartedly agree. I also think men need to contribute more to domestic labor so I'm not arguing that.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/11/25 08:24 PM

78% of the top 20 highest-earning bachelor's degrees are held by men
/r/PurplePillDebate12/11/25 08:11 PM

So, by your logic, the gender of CEOs should not be compelling evidence of widespread sexism against women right? Women's representation in STEM is largely because of women in the medical field. But men dominate the highest-earning bachelor's degrees, as 78% of the top 20 highest paid degrees are held by men. I would need to see a source for the construction claim because that seems wrong because I've seen much lower numbers in other studies.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/11/25 08:10 PM

Well yeah, we had decades of government policies and initiatives encouraging women to achieve educational and professional success. And as a side note, only 16% of women are the sole or primary breadwinners. 55% vs. 16% is a pretty large difference. More women are in the workforce but it would be wrong to say that men don't play the primary financial role. What seems to be happening is that women get a lot of education, enter into the workforce, compete with men professionally, and then have kid…
/r/PurplePillDebate12/11/25 07:56 PM

"Men will not go into these industries without collective support and funding from government-led initiatives." A lot of people do not want to have this conversation but there are literally 100s of state and federal initiatives intended to encourage women's educational attainment. It makes no sense that we can't do that for men and boys.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/11/25 07:43 PM

A lot of these programs are created at the legislative level. Like there are 100s of federal initiatives specifically targeting women and girls. And here's why it won't work for men. The Right don't care because it contradicts traditional norms and masculine ideals. The Left doesn't care because they're afraid that creating a bill targeting men and boys would alienate them from voters on the far left. I'm not even exaggerating when I say this but most people on the far-left believe that cis het …
/r/PurplePillDebate12/11/25 07:40 PM

To be fair, 2/3s of those mothers are single mothers. So when the family is intact, far less mothers are breadwinners. Only 16% of married households (with and without children) have a female breadwinner.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/11/25 07:30 PM

Then the issue isn't 50/50? It's men not contributing to domestic labor. So wouldn't a better strategy be just to date men who do contribute to domestic labor? Rather then only dating men who "provide."
/r/PurplePillDebate12/11/25 07:25 PM

This is why I'm commenting: "This is the primary reason GenZ women are demanding provider partners and increasingly dont want to go 50/50. it's because when men don't provide, they don't compensate for it by fulfilling traditionally feminine roles. How many men don't want to be the breadwinner so that they instead master the art of baking homemade bread instead?" It's a ridiculous premise. So (generally speaking of course), when men are single, it’s because they’re not meeting women’s expectations and haven’t adapted. But when women are single, it’s because there aren’t enough men that meet their expectations. That would have to be the implication of your theory is correct. I agree with your general sentiment but one of the studies you posted is a bit contradictory: After some statistical processing, the data showed that the men tended to fall in love about a month ahead of the women on average – possibly because the onus is on men to show commitment to attract a partner, the researchers suggest. Many relationships start that way. Especially below the age of 30. Myself and many of my friends started a relationship by hooking up and then moving forward into a romantic relationship. You’re desperately trying to box people into certain categories when you’d probably have more success by just going with the flow and seeing where it takes you.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/11/25 05:03 PM

That's a potential explanation based on the results, but it's not fact. The study didn't specifically ask why. And I'm not discounting it as a theory, it's just way too specific and I highly doubt it would apply to the entire sample.

I'm skeptical of this because I think women who have little to no financial power in the relationship are going to be a lot less likely to designate certain actions by their partner as abuse. Less than 1% of people under 30 make $200k (let alone $300k). This doesn’t apply to anyone except a tiny percentage of people.

No that’s not true. Even when men and women are doing the same amount of domestic labor and childcare, women still do less leisure activities.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/10/25 01:00 AM

The divorce rate is misleading because it’s skewed by serial divorcees but it’s still the lowest it’s been since the 80s. Also, if you adjust for basic factors like having a bachelors degree and getting married past the age of 25, it’s drops drastically. And while women initiate most divorces in hetero relationships, lesbian relationships have a higher divorce than everyone (by a significant margin).

It’s not a word game dude. You just don’t understand how the variables in the study work. Leisure time is a separate variable. But it doesn’t really make sense because like I said above, when men are contributing more or equally time to domestic labor and caregiving, women still have less leisure time than men.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/10/25 12:40 AM

Nothing I said was inaccurate. You’re not reading my comments if you think that’s the case. I admitted that women do more domestic labor and child care than men. Re-read them again if you’re confused
/r/PurplePillDebate17/10/25 12:05 AM
2

No they don’t. Because even when men did the same or more housework/caregiving, women significantly still spent less time on leisure activities.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/10/25 11:57 PM
2

Less leisure time does not mean more housework or caregiving in this study. Those are intentionally separate activities. That means women are doing something that isn’t leisure, caregiving, paid work or domestic labor with those hours. Does that make sense? Like if you read the study, men spend more leisure time even when women are doing less caregiving or housework.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/10/25 11:54 PM
3

No. 3.5 hours of leisure time does not mean that time was spent doing housework. All that means is that men report spending more time doing leisurely activities. Which makes sense because there are also studies that suggest men have more total hobbies than women do. I’m willing to bet that women are spending that time with self care and beautification routines but I have no data to support that.

So it makes sense that overall, women would be doing more domestic labor.
