Women are great at keeping secrets. Lmao. The easiest way to make sure everyone in town hears about something private is to tell a woman. Almost any one will do.

The comment to which you replied was saying that men don't care about the opinions of beauty industry advertisers, not that they don't care about women's looks.

"Perfect," yet men don't like it lol. Sounds like you've fallen for the gag, not them.

What the fuck is this post lmao. You don't just order society to perceive something as beautiful. People look at things and decide for themselves whether they're beautiful.

They pacify restive hordes of men while asking nothing in return but a breakfast sandwich and a shower. Truly they are God's strongest soldiers.

These are the same people who think nobody should be able to own a gun. They can't fathom that there are lots of people just walking around and getting through their days instead of teetering on the brink of psychosis every moment.

The only reason you think everyone has trauma is because you have expanded the definition of "trauma" to include normal adversities and disappointments that are absolutely not trauma.

Mainstream American culture is all in on "girl power" at the expense of basically anything. Cooperation is recast as submission. Contrarianism is recast as strength, whether or not a woman is right to be contrary. When you begin developing a nationwide corps of academics and white collar professionals who exist solely to advance the interests of women, not equal treatment of the sexes, I suppose this is inevitable.

Both obedience and collaboration are increasingly rare offerings in a culture that constantly promotes the notion that a woman isn't free if she isn't being a huge pain in the ass.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/12/23 03:33 AM

Forget obedience, most men would settle for collaboration where they just get conflict instead.

Maybe that's why there are so few female engineers. "Hey don't touch that, the line is still hot--" "Don't mansplain to me! I have a Master's degree in eehuuuAAAAAAHHHH!!"

The overriding priority is to squelch criticism of anything women do, whether it's principled or not. A girl did OF to make money at 18? Empowered. She quits and decides later that it was icky? Victim.

The recent ranting articles and books by Paulina Porizkova vividly illustrate what it looks like to take this for granted all your life then have it suddenly stop. (I don't recommend her writing for anything other than a hate read, FYI. It's a crappy 'poor little rich girl' narrative all the way.)

I wonder how much of that statistic is influenced by women frequently ducking in and out of the apps. "Ugh deleted Tinder / Ugh just re-downloaded Tinder" seems to be a trope now. Perhaps there is a more balanced number of lifetime users, but men tend to be longer contiguous users?

In my experience women's dissatisfaction over division of home labor comes not from doing too much, but from not noticing or valuing the contributions their partners make.

So you acknowledge that the world is getting better in many important ways, you're familiar with the evidence that illustrates this point, but you somehow think the whole world is going "in reverse" on balance. Sounds like you have some explaining to do that you're trying to avoid (probably because you don't have an explanation, just feelings).

The point of this advice is not to expect work to replace your need for love. The point is that people with goals, ambition, and direction are more attractive to the opposite sex. And being concerned with things other than actively seeking a mate helps you avoid looking desperate for a mate.

What we should be doing is improving the education system so people aren't still complete shitheads at 18, instead of continually extending the notion of adolescence into one's twenties.

In my experience when guys fall for a girl, it's much harder and lasts much longer. Girls seem to be more stereotypically theatrical when they lose a guy, but it's inherently so much easier for them to find new options that it just doesn't seem to hit the same way.

Advice online is horrendously gender-biased whenever relationships are involved. If you want even a hope of receiving sympathetic advice, anonymize your sex or pretend you're a woman.

It's not just women, to be sure. Misusing clinical language to excuse one's shitty behavior and frame other people for things they're not doing is just in vogue right now.

Hey, I couldn't agree more. I don't understand what drives people to pay for this shit, but I've also not experienced the depths of loneliness that seem to drive it. Still, the fact that OF creators only make like $180/month on average, for example, suggest that many are doing it for the false hope of getting to the bag more than actually doing it for the bag. Kind of like that analysis from Freakonomics that estimated low level drug peddlers often make far less than minimum wage at much higher …
/r/PurplePillDebate02/11/23 07:26 AM

If you have 1.5 million mostly young, otherwise eligible women tainted by something like Only Fans alone, yes, that is going to cause generational-level imbalances in the formation of relationships, marriages, households and families. Whether these milestones are delayed, missed outright, or destabilized (divorce rates, etc), I would be astonished if the rise and attempted normalization of mass sex work didn't show up in longitudinal data. "Don't worry sweetie, lots of whores wind up settling do…
/r/PurplePillDebate02/11/23 07:10 AM

Interesting comment considering I didn't give an estimate. Do you deny that female participation in sex work, porn, and prostitution taken together are rising?
/r/PurplePillDebate02/11/23 06:57 AM

Most people want successful romantic relationships. Some people prefer to stay single. Many people who say they prefer to be single are just lying as a cope because they couldn't get the relationships they want.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/11/23 06:44 AM

I don't hate sex workers, but I do hate how many women are becoming sex workers. Why? Because those people should have been viable mates for a generation of men that's already doing poorly, but they have ruined themselves for an often-pitiful amount of short term gain. Get a real job and have some fucking self respect.

Actually, being calm when somebody is being an asshole is usually the better approach. Often you can get them to come back down to earth and work with you, or at minimum make them understand how silly they look when you refuse to mirror their emotional dysregulation. I'm not saying that an impassioned, emotional response can't work--sometimes it does. But I feel it's just as prone to devolve the situation into unproductive hysterics.

"Sassy" as a man codes "gay." This is not about to change. A calm, executive presence conveys competence and security, and is vastly preferable for men. You can absolutely stand up for yourself, others, and for what you think is right, without being a loud, sarcastic pain in the ass.

Being a stoic has nothing to do with refusal to engage in conflict. To the contrary, a stoic is bound to carry out his duty without complaint, regardless of the adversity required. What he would not do is fight or fret about something that is not in his control.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/10/23 05:20 PM
9

There seem to be a lot of misguided views of stoicism on display here already. To be a stoic is not to be passive and detached from the world. It is to be unbothered by things you cannot control, to do one's duty without complaint, and to live your life in a way that will not bring shame upon you. If you live as a stoic, you may find the complaints and neuroses of other people grating, and you might even counsel them against behaving that way, but you don't have to be a dick about it. That would…

This is a naive take, honestly. A guy with one leg doesn't have a "weak spot" just because he's self-conscious about it. Some physical features create physical and social disadvantages that are real and have to be worked around. Everything isn't exactly what you make of it.

Yes, the ideal is that you and your partner are both 5's according to some average rating, but see each other individually as 8's because of your individual tastes. Mainly though people match within one point or so on the scale.

I guess there are some people who are 1/10's and there are no 0/10's for them to pursue, yeah. I don't think we're talking about a large proportion of the populace though.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/10/23 03:24 PM

Right. It doesn't matter if the odd person here or there has deluded expectations about the type of partner they can get. But if social norms start to drift to something resembling a winner-take-all race, with too many people resolving to land a 1%'er or die alone, then you're going to have large swathes of angry, lonely people by mid-life.

There is almost always someone willing to date you. All you need to do is lower your standards. If you maintain a higher standard but find no matches in that range, you are either in the wrong market (geography, social milieu) or you have overestimated your own qualities.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/10/23 02:52 PM

The difference it makes is that eligible people ruin their lives by expecting things that are unrealistic, depriving both themselves and suitable matches from good relationships and improved life prospects.

Wanting to be fit isn't dysmorohia. Not even wanting to be very fit. It can escalate to that level but that is rare. Pretending you are successful and socially adept when you are not is also not dysmorohia. Just self-delusion.

Women have been pervasively conditioned to see themselves as society's put-upon underdogs. If you already believe you are being universally shortchanged by society, you will be naturally less inclined to give anything more.

Firstly, keep in mind that FDS posters are damaged people who have either been abused by men in the past and aren't coping, or who occupy the bottom rung of the dating market themselves and thus have only ever had access to the bottom rung of male attention. Yes they talk about money, but really the only universal quality they seem to value in a man is compliance. Yes, we're aware we also get positive attention. Yes, not getting any attention sucks. It seems that you understand the basic tension at play here, but are not interested in exploring it. For you the conversation starts and ends with "Being harassed as a woman sucks." If someone replies, "I agree. Now let's talk about a different aspect of this dynamic." Your reaction seems tantamount to saying "No, we are only going to talk about how much being harassed as a woman sucks. To talk about anything …

It might expand your view to consider that a mix of positive and negative attention may still be preferable to a life of virtually zero attention, with little or no affirmation from anyone. I frankly do not think women are equipped to handle that in the present day.

Therapy doesn't seem to be helping many people, tbh. It seems like the only thing most people get from therapy is fancy language with which to browbeat their peers, and, of course, more appointments for therapy. I rarely see a storyline like "I had a problem so I went to therapy and overcame it." It's more like "I llike going to therapy so I keep going and I think everyone should go."
/r/PurplePillDebate04/10/23 05:13 AM

Men thoroughly enjoy unsolicited compliments from other men as well as women, in part because they are so rare. However, I think because the base expectation is that they are rare, if men complimented each other as frequently as women do, it would come off as odd.

Child support payments are neither deductible by the payer nor taxable to the recipient. When you calculate your gross income to see if you're required to file a tax return, don't include child support payments received. https://www.irs.gov/faqs/interest-dividends-other-types-of-income/alimony-child-support-court-awards-damages/alimony-child-support-court-awards-damages-1#:~:text=Child%20support%20payments%20are%20neither,include%20child%20support%20payments%20received.

I expect the impact of single motherhood, which is likely to reduce hours worked and reduce educational attainment. At the same time the more children you have the higher your income level that is considered in poverty. So if you have two kids but not $8k more income, that could put you below the line. Lastly, it seems child support payments are not reported as taxable income, so the true income levels of this population may appear lower in this data than it really is.

puts a responsibility on women to start fucking guys they don’t want to Responsibility? Obligation? Your odd rant is not responsive to my point. The point is that average women should be more receptive to average men. The problem is that they are not. Women are instead extremely receptive to higher-status men who don't want them, yet actively avoidant of men who are in fact their match. This makes hardly anyone happy long-term except for the "studs" at the top of the male distribution. Falling divorce rates taken alone are good, I agree. Against a backdrop of steadily rising single-parent families, it unfortunately also suggests that many people who probably should have gotten married and stayed married avoided doing so to their detriment. I will be astounded if this doesn't show up in worse life outcome stats for this cohort a decade or two from now.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/09/23 11:50 PM

It kind of is how it should work, though. Crashing statistics on marriage, fertility, plus elevated rates of anxiety and depression don't exactly suggest that the status quo is working out. There is evidence to suggest that maintaining unrealistic goals does generate unhappiness, too. Why ignore this dimension of the problem?
/r/PurplePillDebate26/09/23 09:50 PM

That's one thing that could happen. Men need to understand and accept that rejection is a normal part of life. The more opportunities you create, the more you will hear No, but the better your overall odds become to get to Yes. It's like portfolio theory in investing, or more aptly venture capital. If nine of your stocks tank but the tenth one makes you a million dollars, who cares? You still got what you needed.

The example you described in your post about scheduling a date is an overcorrection and, to me, suggests weakness, not resilience. I think for men, the better advice is to be the best version of yourself you can be. Both in the moment and across time. A sense of growth and progress is helpful to most anyone. But men seem to need to grow and improve much more than they need to hear that they're perfect the way they are. Nobody is perfect the way they are, and they never will be. It's ok to work to be better. In fact, the way a person chooses to tackle this problem is a big part of what makes a person interesting.

The insight is not that different men are different in attractiveness. The insight is that most women find nothing attractive about the large majority of men, whereas most men find most women attractive to at least some extent. I think we're already seeing at least one major concern with populations dropping below replacement rates of reproduction. Unattached young men can also turn to crime and other antisocial behaviors since they literally have less to lose in terms of family and a home.

I think I understand what you mean. Let's say you're a gifted engineer, and you're supremely confident in your engineering skill. It's the main thing from which you derive self-esteem, so in general you're confident in yourself. If a woman finds you ugly or doesn't respect engineering competence, however, this does not help you at all.

Because they be freaks, yo. (Not really kidding.)

I expect to pay my own way in life always. I'd rather select a partner based on whether I like them as a person rather than milking them for cash.

Most people can look at a photograph, for instance, and see whether someone is smiling with authentic joy or just posing. No "smile with the eyes," for instance. It's a similar kind of feeling around child free people. They often wear the trappings of people who are living a great life, but just seem a little...off. Like there's an air of sadness around them. In many cases I think child free people don't seem this way because they're child free per se, but they may have chosen to be child free b…

By actually appearing happy instead of like they're trying to hide soul-crushing loneliness.

I have never met a childfree woman in person or online who didn't insist they were happy, and who didn't make that insistence sound like a very big cope.

Women can be emotionally cold, oblivious, even deliberately cruel, and still get by because men and society at large will offer to protect them or take care of them by dint of their sex.

In my experience people bitching about age gaps are usually women who feel threatened about being passed over for younger women. Or they had negative experiences with older men that they project onto everyone else. I have seen men give each other shit about things like fertility issues if a guy dates a much older woman, though.

30 dates to get one steady relationship would have been a God-awful ratio in pre-app times, just for reference.

There's no obvious reason why this needs to be the case. Someone could view it as a person providing a service for money like anything else.

Everything you say is true. It pays to know what the other side really thinks.

I don't really agree with your addition. Pretending someone is right when they're wrong doesn't serve anyone well in the long run. If someone is being unreasonable, in the sense of literally not participating in reasoned discussion, the best outcome is to point out that the discussion has become circular and that you can take it back up another time. Assuming of course that is your honest intent and not just kicking the can to avoid truly resolving the underlying problem.

Feminists also demonize other feminists, because their various splinter groups harbor mutually exclusive core beliefs. It's not a coherent ideology as such.

Men everywhere do not demonize women as a whole. And for every true blue misogynist there is an equally repulsive simp waiting for his next chance to remind everyone that women are infallible, at least in my country. It's also worth distinguishing the dislike of women as people from a perception that society has stacked the deck against men in a variety of ways. We don't need to interrogate all of those here, but there's a difference.

I think it's worth distinguishing this from being rude or condescending, but I do think it's a real phenomenon. Women tend to really indulge in drama and will continue revving it up and taking conversations in circles if you participate. They do seem to appreciate a man with the sense and strength of character to break that cycle, bring a discussion to a clear and equitable resolution, and move on to more useful things.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
