The exceptions don’t disprove the general rule. That’s an important fact to keep in mind. There will always be exceptions. But your point is taken. I’m just wondering though—how do you know that those girls were not around those guys just for entertainment, social clout, or simple friendship? What makes you think that them being around him instantly meant that they wanted to romantically involve themselves and become intimate partners? Those are two very different things, and it’s a stretch to g…

I’m just a floating observer, but I don’t think anyone is saying that charisma “isn’t real”—just that it doesn’t contribute much to courting unless you already look decent. Can you imagine a 4’11 scrawny nerd with braces being dazzlingly “charismatic”?…A little hard. But now can you imagine a tall 6’ muscular man being charismatic? Much, much easier. So some may argue that charisma is in fact intertwined with looks itself, and that looks must come first before charisma has any real weight, when …

No, precisely the opposite. That the father himself must be disciplined and prepared to carry such a role, but perhaps in America today a paradigm culture shift must happen first before that becomes widespread. Though even today, I’m confident that the vast majority of fathers with daughters would happily and passionately take on such a role. It’s just the dating culture rules & expectations that largely need to change for that to become normalized and practiced. But the innate urge to protect y…

Yes, exactly my point. But just because some fathers aren’t equipped to do that, doesn’t make the whole idea pointless. It’s actually a fantastic idea, and one that is practiced in many cultures globally, with good success.

But that’s exactly the problem, isn’t it? You’re just proving the point by showing that involvement of the dad & male figures would indeed make a positive difference, but it takes effort and cooperation from both sides. This is how things used to be back then—and still are in many cultures (especially Eastern)—but it’s no longer like that in the West, and men/fathers are equally to blame. As I understand it, OP isn’t calling for daughters to go bug their drunk fathers for help. They’re calling f…

1) The spark of new love dies down with time. 2) Women use intimacy (whether consciously or subconsciously) as a means of attracting their partner—sometimes competitively—so once they get married and they have them “in their grasp” (for lack of better words), there is no reason to continue using the ‘biological bait’ of s*x. There’s no more ‘competition anxiety’ needed to secure their “spot” with the man as there was before. Sorry, I know it sounds harsh, but it’s true. 3) Unlike men, women on a…

What you’re failing to realize is that things like sexual harassment and rape happen way less often to men than they do women, which is why (and this is a big one!)—men on average don’t NATURALLY feel anywhere NEAR as unsafe, nervous, and insecure in public (safety-wise) as women do. I was actually shocked to learn several years ago that most women instinctively feel “scared” or on-edge for their safety in most public settings (from men). Men don’t really have that issue—we just live our lives, …

Attractiveness is very subjective to men, as it is to women. The point is, even a seductive phone call or romantic flirting from a girl (even a 4/10) can easily excite many men and at least prompt them to take her out on a date. But the same from a man, even a 5-7/10, will only get you Blocked and possibly reported to police. Get the gist.

That’s what we call a “self-limiting belief.” You’re deluding yourself into falsely thinking all men have that mentality (or even all men on this sub, which is frankly irrelevant considering that we’re talking about the giant pool of men in real life, not just a single tiny subreddit). But the fact remains true—women by nature have far more power to go on dates and explore partners than men do. Just because lots of men are more horny than women doesn’t detract from that fact. And above all, you’…

What you’re failing to realize is that the sheer power women have to attract and seduce men (which is almost exclusively a one-way lane in your favor) gives you the OPPORTUNITY—abundantly so—to actually meet up with these men and go on dates with them, thus being able to see whether they will actually make for a good partner. You have the dating “VIP Ticket” so to speak. But for the vast majority of men, that privilege is not so easily available, and we have to put in a ton of hard work to actua…

Many of the women here are claiming that they want genuine relationships and not just sex, but what they’re failing to realize is that the sheer power they have to attract and seduce men (which is almost exclusively a one-way lane in their favor) gives them the OPPORTUNITY—abundantly so—to actually meet up with these men and go on dates with them, thus being able to see whether they will actually make for a good partner. You missed the point. OP was specifically asking why women on average seem to be happier “being SINGLE”. That’s the key. It’s a woman’s contentment being ALONE, compared to a man’s desire for relationship. Not happiness in general. And even though I personally experience women having a greater need for romantic relationship than men, I still agree with OP that women tend to be more satisfied & content with remaining alone, due to the fact that their innate need for attention & validation is fed …

Because most women have an endless source of attention and validation, primarily through social media (people constantly complimenting them, DMing them, trying to get with them, etc). So that instinctual need is met one way or another, whereas for men it needs to be the raw traditional way of actually getting to know someone and spending time with them for the same fulfillment to take place, which is harder to do. Also I’m not the sort of person to think of most women as overly-promiscuous creat…

No problem, we’ll just agree to disagree. I appreciate your stance though. However please don’t accuse me of thinking “men need sex to see women as normal people” because I never said that. On the contrary I’m condemning that. I know you’re sensitive about this topic, but please don’t convert that emotion into making false, rash accusations, or else you’re no better than the guy you’re criticizing. But it’s alright, no hard feelings. Take care now. Goodbye.

I totally understand your frustration (I’d be pissed off too if that’s what he was saying), but I genuinely think you are misunderstanding him. What he means is NOT that he used to see women as LESS than human before, but rather the fact they are just REGULAR people like you and me (who DON’T deserve to be pedestalized or idolized or seen as “special prizes”) is made much more clear once you finally have intimacy and realize it’s not everything. In another thread he actually clarified and compar…

He’s not talking about respect. He’s talking about putting women on a pedestal and idolizing the idea of intimacy in your mind, until you actually experience it and realize it’s not everything. It “wakes you up” to the reality of the illusory fantasy of sex. It’s not as great and fulfilling as it’s often made out to be. That’s all he’s saying. No need to exaggerate his words and assume negatively.

Haha so many people are misunderstanding your post, but I get you bro. You’re right. Once you have a slice of the cake, you realize it’s not everything.

It‘s not weird at all; you’re just wording it poorly. Basically all he’s saying is “Once you have sex, you realize it’s not everything in the world.” That’s it.

Right, and not the ones who WERE married but got divorced and are currently single…You see where the prejudice lies? It’s like saying “100% of those who participated in the war remained alive.” Right….because we only included the ‘survivors’, and not the millions of people who weren’t included in the study since they are dead…

I’m not sure if I’m the one missing something here, or you are. Do you understand why it’s important to include divorced men in a study that measures the link between marriage and happiness? Do you know what the Survivorship Bias effect is? Do you understand why it’s relevant?

That “fact” seems to reek of survivorship bias, since it presumably only includes the men who’ve remained in marriage and didn’t leave it lol. But still, point taken.
