The real challenge is how do we educate our sons.

I understand where you are coming from. I needed validations, that I am still worthy as a partner to somebody, especially somebody that meet my standard. Let's say I am happy with my progress in 3 months. In the very beginning, I signed up for all the dating apps. I needed to know what's the market look like. I am fully aware online dating is not effective for me in the past, but I needed something that is more accessible, and I try to be fully aware and not get sucked into it. I am meeting two …

Yes that’s my experience too. I think most free support communities are more toxic even with good intentions. Find a good therapist! Mine has a PsycD degree.

You are me from 3 months ago. Yes it will get better! I still cries, and cried a few times yesterday, but it hurts a lot less now, and I recovers from the feeling faster than 3 months ago. My biggest fear is also loneliness. My therapist is helping me deal with it. I also read this subreddit a lot less from 3 months ago. It's probably a good sign that I am responding your message, as helping others makes us feel good ourselves! Similar to you, my marriage has been dead for 3 years. I thought abo…

I don’t yet know how much I need to pay but 40% will seriously stress me out.

I’m guess I won’t get married again now that I know more about what I have to lose. In psychology it is called Temporal discounting: we as human tend to do things that give us short term benefit instead of thinking about long term. It is similar to think what harm it will have if I just smoke this pack of cigarettes which give me immediate pleasure, and don’t think one pack would result in lung cancer.

I have exact same problem. I have been trying everything. What seems to work now is that I would get up after waking up, and spend 30 minutes to 45 minutes to study, because focusing on something else would take my mind off the stressor and I would feel tired and are able to recover a bit more sleep afterwards, although not restful sleep, but still better than getting up at 2am.

Yeah I felt the same way, except I am much older (48), with two young children, about the same height that I feel insecure about (5’7), and I am Asian. I still feel the urge to date and feel the need to have a romantic relationship, but I am also started to dislike the idea of marriage. I am hoping I won’t feel lonely because I will always have my children (through coparenting). We will see.

Oh well I am not alone (or you are not alone). My wife blames everything imperfect in her life to me, even things like she can't find her phone, her purse, or she can't find stuff she packed herself. She took zero responsibility. I believe that's how women grow up, and I have been mindful teaching my daughter how to take personal responsibilities.

This is painful become it is so much like my life: my wife blame everything imperfect in her life on me, and it became daily yelling at me, for issues like she can’t find her phone, or I just went to the bathroom when she show up without telling her. I had thought about divorcing her in the past couple of years but decided to wait until the kids are older. Now she asked for divorce which is difficult for me to cope with. I think it would have been better for my mental health if I asked for divor…

I think being 19 you are too young to think about getting married. I think you should put your career first at this stage and then worry about getting married. When you a career, you have more options either way. If you don't have a career, you won't have much to offer for a marriage anyway so your options will be more limited.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
