Lemme try to explain a bit more in depth. When you say female or male, it sort of seems like you're referring to them like you would any other animal, thus dehumanizing them. Saying male or female when needing to refer to biological sex is okay because you needed to refer to their sex. Otherwise, though? It just comes off as more offensive, especially when you say "males and women" or "men and females"

I think it's because most of the time, when male issues are brought up, it's in response to women talking about issues they face. Instead of bringing, say, male suicide rates up on their own, most of the time they'll bring it up when women are talking about issues they face unprompted. Often times it feels like the only time male issues are brought up are when they're used to underplay women's issues

Except you need to put pain tolerance and underlying conditions into account. What may be a mild headache for you could feel like having a hammer rammed into your temple for someone else. Period symptoms vary wildly in severity.
