50/50 dads.On this subject, giving them a benefit to helping out can make it way easier. If they get screen time, you can tell them that they get to start as soon as they've picked up their stuff. If they're going to get dessert, tell them that they need to put away the dishes first. And let yourself do easy dinners a portion of the time -- there are a lot of options that wouldn't require as much time as you're spending on getting dinner ready. And give yourself grace that things aren't perfect -- my house… | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/07/26 01:37 PM

How many of you bought your wife out of the house? How were you able to pull this off? I've been assuming that there's no way that I'd be able to assume our existing mortgage, since it's so far below market, but if there's a possibility I'd definitely want to explore it. | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/06/26 02:16 AM
Aggressive lawyer in her ear, any tips? One of the things that I'm noticing in my process is that when my STBXW doesn't have a defensible substantive justification for her position she falls back on arguments that I've handled the process wrong. (For example, my saying "I don't think that my requests are unreasonable", when my request is that she stop taking her AP/boyfriend on overnight trips with our kids when they don't even know that they're together, was me claiming that I'm always the reasonable one and acting incredibly paterna… | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/06/26 02:07 AM
What is the occupation of your STBXW or Ex-Wife?It's one of the reformed (Calvin-inspired) churches. I've done enough research to know that pastors in the denomination do periodically get fired for affairs, though the cases I found generally involved male pastors, the majority of whom had an affair with a congregant. | /r/Divorce_Men | 05/06/26 12:55 AM
What is the occupation of your STBXW or Ex-Wife?Yeah. . . The reality is that if she gets fired that would suck for our kids (both because it would make it a lot harder for her to support them, and because it would torpedo their parents' relationship -- despite everything, I've been trying to keep things amicable for them). But you're not wrong that I'm kind of letting her slide on something fundamental. | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/06/26 04:57 PM
What is the occupation of your STBXW or Ex-Wife?I understand people who think this from the outside. The reality is that some people are total frauds, others (including honestly my STBXW) are sincerely committed but sometimes fail to uphold their commitments, and many do a good job of abiding by the most important teachings (though no one is perfect). We hear disproportionately about the frauds, for obvious reasons. For what it's worth, I'm going to keep taking my kids to church. Just not to her church. | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/06/26 04:50 PM
What is the occupation of your STBXW or Ex-Wife?Yeah, as someone who is also a practicing Christian (albeit looking for a new church for some reason. . .), I've spent a lot of time thinking about Biblical teachings about divorce. In retrospect, I think she is someone with a very high need for novelty, who felt trapped in a long-term relationship for some time, and put in a lot of work to convince herself that a) this wasn't an affair (since we weren't *really* married anymore -- we weren't having sex or hanging out much, though in both cases … | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/06/26 04:44 PM
What is the occupation of your STBXW or Ex-Wife?Pastor. (She still hasn't told the church that we're divorcing, let alone that she's divorcing me to be with her AP, with whom she's already living and constantly bringing around our kids "because they already know him". Not what I expected from marrying a pastor. . .) | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/06/26 02:56 PM
