| 2 | Alimony length in MichiganOh my god, so much so. It's like the old joke says... Why is divorce so expensive? Because it's worth it! | /r/Divorce_Men | 28/09/23 06:00 PM |
| 1 | How do you guys find free time?Dude, you can do this. You must do this, your kid needs you to. I've got 50/50 with the ex and have 3 kids (14,12, 4). It took a couple months to find the rhythm, but things run smoothly now. When they're with me, that's my focus. We have activities together, and I cook them dinner each day. Then when they're not is the time for everything else. Had to learn to schedule things out ahead of time, and then follow that schedule. I'd suggest you challenge yourself to look back at the end of the week… | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/09/23 01:39 AM |
| 2 | Alimony length in MichiganShould add that the Michigan courts are wickedly backed up. Get going as soon as you can. Ours took nearly 3 years, and we didn't even go to trial. If she hadn't finally negotiated, could have been 4 to 5 years to get to trial. | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/09/23 01:23 AM |
| 2 | Alimony length in MichiganI got divorced in Michigan. There isn't a clear statutory guideline, so if you go to trial it is a roll of the dice. In mediation, we found that it's common practice for alimony to be 1/3 of the length of marriage. There is a computer program that's pretty standard and it defaults to that, and then you negotiate from there. We settled on 5 years of alimony, after 14 years of marriage. 4 yrs and 2 months left to go. Best wishes | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/09/23 01:21 AM |
