And I said in my comments that I've felt threatened too.

I literally said not just being spoken to.

First, thanks for being courteous even if you disagree with me ! These no-interruption space exist in many university, I don't know about his one. It would be better, for sure. But in some case not enough apparently. If it was, these person wouldn't feel safer in their space. But better for sure. About the seminars... If it was efficient, the problem would be solved for a long time... These exist, as well in corporations, and if they improve the situation they certainly didn't put an end to it -…

And that proves that you didn't speak about this issue with women around you. Of these spaces exist, they are a response to this feeling. It is discussed in many articles and studies, not promoted by feminists (beware, I know you are afraid of this word). If you refuse to acknowledge that a sufficient part of women feel threatened is enough to take actions against it, then we won't agree. It is not white knighting or patronizing, if it answers a demand from the victims. I am not patronizing anyo…

I never said that it was exclusive to men to harass women. I explicitly said the contrary in an other comment. You shift my words to make them fit your point. Read the article : quotes in the article explains that students in this college feel threatened (and not only about being talked to, it is a much larger problem.

About the bathroom, my point is that I am not shocked to see bathroom for men, and bathroom for women. The transgender is even an other debate that we can leave aside for this situation as it is not the problem in the article. I think that it is not only upon us to decide wether it is fair to have this area or not as we don't experience what these people live. I'm for equity more than equality. As in it is equal to give the same equipment to two people you make fight, even if one is much older. …

That is absolutely not what I said. Debating with you when you refuse to acknowledge facts, as the fact that women feel threatened in their everyday life is useless. When you refuse to hear how the other half of the population feels, I don't expect you to be open to any debate. I discussed arguments with other people in this thread, people who didn't agreed but we listened to each other in a much more sane way. You feel insecure about women from what I read in your fight against them. I didn't m…

Being the main point of the article doesn't prevent it to be an excuse to justify the lust of "deny a pussy pass", would it be real or not :) I get your argument about BLM. I consider the race issue a bit more complicated, and prone to drifting (is it the right word ? I am not native) than having a women study class - and a men one, if that calms down tensions. I would be shocked to see a white VS black bathroom, but not a man VS woman bathroom. It is slightly different, but in the end it seems …

As long as you feel so insecure about patriarchy and the place women have in society, there's no point discussing with you. Because you won't aknowledge the fact that women feel threatened in their everyday life, and that it is not a "snowflake" treatment to 1/feel that, 2/ wanting to prevent it. And that is the only thing this space is trying to do.

Of course harasser should be pressured to not harrass, and bystanders should be pressured to step in. This is what everyone tries for years. With ad campain, educational course, etc. But today, as we speak, the issue is still not solved. And while we work at it, it seems fair to provide solutions to the symptoms, while working on the cause.

This tax argument sounds to me like an excuse at best, and petty jealousy at worst. You have felt threatened by "bad guys", so did I. But that doesn't mean that these women can have a space where there won't be boys hitting on them preventing them to work properly. The tax money in this university aims to provide a space to study properly. If women harassed men like some men do to women, then creating a "women-free" space would be relevant. However, a large majority of this issue is from SOME me…

Harassment aren't gender-exclusive, far from that. However, most harassment that women get, comes from men. That is a fact, and it doesn't implies that women don't harass too. Due to that fact, it seems logic to provide a space to study without being at least disturbed by the majority of the group of people that disturbs.

I feel like you really should read the article, and more important, talk about this without preconception with a girl friend. It may change the way you see this issue. They are forced to converse with the person approaching them, and it is precisely because the don't take "no" for an answer that such space is useful. I've witnessed several time girls saying that they want to be left alone, and sometimes more directly even, and it just doesn't work. From the article : "“I myself have specifically…

Have you ever talked to a girl about how she feels in just walking in the streets ? Did you read the article ? There are girls quotes, about being harassed in study rooms. I feel like there maybe should be a man-only room, but you would know how girls can feel if not threatened (and they do), at least bothered by boys in these situation, you would agree with them...

Found the guy who never talked to a female friend because he doesn't want anything else from them than their butt. What he says is real, and has nothing to do with your own insecurities.
