I agree with the superv worldbuilding. I though the same about Genly. This random message of apreciation made my day. Thank you

I recently read "The left hand of Darkness" which is a surprising good book. Ursula K. Le Guin has been labelled as a feminist writter (a labbel that she does not like btw) and wrote a book about a world where all the popullation has both genders and once a month they became one of them. The book talks about an Emissary from outside space (the worlds of future humanity) arriving to this world to try and open it to interestellar comerce and exchange of ideas. He struggles with local culture but h…

As long as you have your mind open and you are willing to listen to others and to explain your problems a lot of the work is already done. I think that trans people are really helpfull because their position as victims in the feminist/left mainstream gives them a platform to do so much good. Talking about misandry when it is due is really helpfull and not letting others to minimize that. And all that meanwhile you are part of one of the most punished collectives out there. Thanks.

The problem in my opinion are the connotations of the term and not the term itself. If I should think of another term it would be "forced single" or "unlaid person" Is not a term that seeks to impose a negative vision on its construction like "toxic masculinity". Actually the term was coined first by a woman to refer to herself. Maybe I'm not giving enough empathy to those afected. I try to empathise with those affected (and the cause is not a misoginist or terrible personality) and I know how t…

I like the article and the story but I wish it was a more recent case. I'm not saying that it does not happen nowadays but this article is not recent enough to criticize the witch-hunt that a post me too world has become in social spaces. It gaves an opening for the "that's so uncommon that you have to go back to the 2014 to find a case" But it was a good reading noneless

I don't think the statement is false by itself. It's truth that conservative want to impose sex roles. The problem is not ending it with "women should defend the country equally and be drafted equally" or "no one should be forced into the military as it is now a profesionalized one". Problem is being a feminist and being in the same side as conseevatives with sex roles and not seing a problem with that. "Women should not be drafted because..." If you think that the argument is diferent just beca…

The people that I speak of are often people arguing in bad faith. It is not what I find in this space at all.

There are a lot of people who use good points that men's advocacy have just to undermine mainstream feminism wanting to shut down funding of good projects. I know that a lot of times it is a zero sum game but the stance should be "we need funding here" not "stop funding money in female shelters or breast cancer research".

I had a similar experience. All my life I have been a critic of mainstream feminism and doble morals but I'm left leaning and outside of private conversations you are treated as suspicious of being a cover right one. All sympathy is for women and minorities. As a white male from a single parent home in one of the poorest zones in my city I'm explained several times a year about how lucky I am for being born male and cisgender by middle and upper class women. All in a misandrist sandwich. I have …

This makes me think about the book "To the lighthouse" from Virginia Wolf. One of the themes is how the mother of the family is some kind of emotional anchor for the rest of the family and how her husband and others use her as a way to vent all their frustrations and fears. Not in a violent way, and she is respected for doing so, but it ilustrates the opinion that you are putting here. For a lot of men being vulnerable is really hard but it's easier to do it with women than with other men. I thi…

I loved the article and decided to share it on my limited social media. For me it's really on point. Articles like this, so well written in my opinion, allow me to share critical thoughs about feminism without fear to being catallogued as some incel dude.

I think that patriarchy really hurts men too. There are some advantages and some downfalls but I think we can have a consensus that a patriarchal social archetype exists. What I don't agree is the modern feminist aproach of only selecting cases in which it benefites men and mades women's life worse. I think that what you are criticising is the "toxic masculinity" approach that, by name and interpretations is not what we men see as downfalls of the patriarchal rolemodels.

I don't get why you are being downvoted. Is not like you are not right about the view of society of some republicans

The data about boys being a more prominient victim than girls may be a male gender issue but be carefull with your conclusions about mothers being more dangerous than fathers. A greater % of mothers in the sole parent perpetrator may be because more women are in that situation and if you analyze the data fairly it could indicate that fathers are more prone to violence against children. (I'm not saying that, I'm just being critic) Imagine 200 kids who live with only one parent. From those 200, 20…

Being trans seems hard. It's so hard actually that for the first time in my life I have seen feminists kicked out of the movement for their bigotry. The statistics of abuse, violence against and prejudice in the workplace are just so overwelming that you cannot place them under the rug. I'm sorry if it seems that we just use you as a weapon to criticize feminism... You deserve empathy and acceptance. I hope that you are being happy right now

"Ria Tabacco Mar, the director of the American Civil Liberties Union's Women's Rights Project, who is urging the court to take up the issue, says requiring men to register imposes a 'serious burden on men that's not being imposed on women.' Tabacco Mar said that the current law sends a 'tremendously harmful message that women are less fit than men to serve their country in this particular way and conversely that men are less fit than women to stay home as caregivers in the event of an armed conf…

Again this one... the article it's from 2012. The case It's really unfair and shows the lack of accountability on those cases but if we want to be taken seriously we must stop posting the same cases over and over again. If the case has not been updated in two months and no new interviews or whatever have been posted please refrain from posting it. It makes us look like all we do is some quick google search and post the most blatant cases. After some selection bias, it's possible to make a case a…

You are right. The data shows that women are doing worse in India with job related issues. And I say data and not the graph. You can make a graph more abrupt but the data shows a trend where since the 2008 crisis employment for women in India is declining as well as for men but it's agravated in the women's case. Being employed in home is not good either. A better graph would be show the decline in men and woman in the same time, like % of employment lost respect previous year. I'm not saying th…

This article seems to be from 3 years ago. I know there are a lot of problems with how women and men are perceived and that it's important to keep pointing stories about how women are not taken responsible for their acts. But reposting the same stories over and over again does not help our credibility.

I don't think prison is the best answer. If it's the first time AND the case did not show an abuser pattern maybe a slap on the wrist is enough to change her behaviour. Make her do some charity or communal work. The unfair thing is that if roles were reversed the man would be probably in prison. And a more empathic solution would be better too

That's why I said legally and not morally. A lot of the justice system makes no moral sense. But it has its internal logic and it has been applied in the case.

In their relationship he made her dependant of his money or she became dependant to his money because she wanted to. It doesn't matter why but the dependency is what its proved or not. The intent of the laws or rullings about this that make a husband pay to their exspouses is that they keep providing for them until they can be on their own because being jobless during so much time can incapacitate someone in their laboral life and make finding a job reallly hard. Thus the amount has to be propor…

That is an absurd argument. The scientific community has moral criteria in which a fetus of a certain development cannot be killed because it has already certain characteristics that made him sentient and already almost a person. What he is saying is that the potential to be is not equal to actually be. He is not advocating killing kids and you know it. We do not judge kids for their actions in the same way that adults and the same go-to people with cognitive problems. And we are ok with that. I…

Why is it always left=feminism in this sub? Feminism is "positive" even in right-wing parties all across the world in occidental society. This is a subreddit of male issues not a right-wing propaganda one.

Just acknowledging what the facts are and what it is your opinion is a superb form of debating. Thank you. I tend to agree with your opinion about women being more often perpetrators than men but I do not know the facts and it doesn't matter so much. Victims are victims. Perpetrators are perpetrators. And I hope this behaviour is punished more often when it happens. It's just a shame that it seems really troublesome and expensive to prove it.

You are right in some things: slut-shaming is a lot more common in our young life and just calling out some girl a slut because she sleeps around is not the same that the case in the article but is also important to point it out as an unmoral thing to do. There are cases of ex-boyfriends or ex-husbands also trashing reputations, sending mail to employers and not only in a slut-shaming way. Some women can also be cut off in their families if they hear about the girls bad reputation. Hatred, toxic…

This is a false dicotomy. " do you want to be accepting and liked by a wide range of people or do you want strong communities, families and a strong nation?" Well I don't seek to be on the good side of more people by doing something unfair. I don't care about creating a "stronger" community if that means you are only a cog in that one that cannot think critically about it. I'm sure china, north korea or some Islamic countries have some stronger communities which are enforced strictly but I prefe…

I don't think that imposing your views or the satisfaction of a group that you fit in at the expense of others freedom is a moral thing to suggest. Messages like this one are the kind of things that fuel femminists arguments against our critical views of their ideology.

Not condoning it but I hope she has enough resources to not be completely broke but not so much to learn the lesson. I don't see this as an only male problem. Difamation is terrible nowadays and much more so how common is to get away from it. And yes I'm acknowledging all the divorce moms that shit on their exhusbands and ruin their lifes but slutshaming is also very common these days. As a society we need to learn the value of everyones right to move on with their lives... Learn to not submit t…
