I'm not disagreeing with that. I'm disagreeing with this assumption that wanting sex prior means you cannot change your mind when it happens. It is vital that the cops do their job and all the evidence/information they have is handed over. But it's not like the title read "woman sends accused rapist texts revealing she consented." The fact that they texted before does not have any impact on the alleged event.

Just because you ask for casual sex: that does not mean you are unable to change your mind. The title alone does not give enough information as to whether or not she lied. All it shows is 1. The police sucked at their job & 2. She at one point in time wanted to have sex with this man who allegedly raped her.

They were two separate thoughts. I was not saying you, in this moment, are unwilling to have a conversation. I was saying I have seen, many times, people unwilling to have a conversation on this sub (as well as other subs such as feminism). I can say that I've been treated the same in all subs like this. Both this sub and feminism have been very unkind to me. I know it's not fair for me to judge either group of it these interactions butt I can't help but do so. It's my experience. It's my only reference point. Ill give more chances but until something changes, I'll keep this mindset. Because both groups seem hateful and rude if you not 100 in agreement with their ideology.

I've gotten yelled at in both types of subs. It makes it hard to care about men and women & make sure that everyone gets treated the way they deserve. It's also hard to believe either group isn't extreme in nature.

I knew plenty of people who suck; men and women. Making it a "well women are actually worse at this" instead of "this isn't a gendered issue. This is a human condition issue" makes it an argument rather than a moment to share and learn and grow as a people.

I feel very stuck between not wanting to identify as a feminist but also agreeing with a good deal of feminist values. I think it's because of how polarizing the word can be. This sub is a fine example of that. Some hear feminism/patriarchy and are unwilling to have a conversation.

Equality tends to feel like oppression when you arethe privileged. Aka If men have more power, equal treatment will feel like oppression. People who attain power tend to let it corrupt them. Aka If women had less power, giving them more power (to am equal place) will most likely bring out those who do desire to become the oppressor. It's a complicated situation.

This whole anti feminism viewpoint is similar to the anti BLM viewpoint. Suddenly it becomes acceptable to say "a portion of people who align with this movement are doing something bad. So the whole movement is messed up, wrong, and a total joke." It's more nuanced than that. The whole ideology of feminism isn't bad. It's merely askew. Feminism, if done properly, should be addressing the issues of all people. All genders are impacted when one gets assumed roles.

The fact that we spend time worried over who is the most "victim" or who suffers the most in a situation rather than acknowledging that all people are hurting is what gets us in these gender/sex/race/etc based arguments. Sexism ruins everyone. It does not matter who gets hurt more. The fact that people are hurting sucks & it is even more alarming when you realize everyone is getting hurt regardless. I just find this whole thing so strange. Our society is a sex negative society. We flaunt sex everywhere in the media yet we are so against it. Not sure if it is quite far to compare the man show and the view... but the point still holds that there is a doible standard. And I would argue it doesn't matter if men or women are getting used for their body: it's wrong regardless. It should never be about sex to begin with. It should be about loving people.

Her response of depression and self harm is an indication of anyone who hides their identity and lies about who they are. They suffer immense psychological harm. Whether you have a non-hetero normative sexual preference in which you hide or you identity with male gender while being female sex or anything along the lines of hiding who you are. I think you can make a lot of good out of this. I would encourage people to go to this too. Despite me not liking the fact that the program is aimed at "teaching men not to rape", I think going and starting a dialogue with the speakers during the q&a time (I'm assuming there will be a chance for q&a time), having a floor meeting (or building wide meeting), and/or talking to the psych department/the event planning people could do wonderful things. I do not think it is entirely due to denial of access but as to the idea that males can fix themselves and have it all together. Men that feel like they don't will search for coping mechanisms. Most men do not reach out. I do not believe that is because of denial of access always. It's more of a male gender role expectation as opposed to society deciding males don't deserve the support.

I learned this in school as well, being a psych major. Our gender roles certainly effect how we do more than we realize. Suicide is certainly one of those things.
