California reported a suicide rate last month that basically equaled an entire year. No idea what the gender breakdown of it is, but normal people recognize that as horrific no matter what the attributes of the person are.

Her Twitter is like a masters thesis in winding logical fallacy on top of itself into a self referential mess of bullshit framing relying on logical fallacy and outright lies. I found a tweet in which she digs in on how men who do dangerous work are selfish. That “men” love to claim high workplace fatally rate but most work safe jobs, therefore no. “Men” aren’t working dangerous jobs because most of them don’t Wait.... wouldn’t this mean that since even fewer men are harming women and abusers, t…

No, I’m not justifying Discrimination against anybody. I’m saying that a lot of how and why society works the way it does is because of self selected roles that are often influenced by sexual dimorphism. Feminists are anti-male, and lots of men are also anti-male. What’s not anti male is saying, let’s appreciate what men do for society. That it costs lots of male lives for us to have what we do. That “disposability” is the attitude. If there were gratitude for the sacrifice it wouldn’t be “dispo…

Let me try to rephrase it then: We will always die in greater numbers; and I’m fine with that. We will always be the majority fighting wars, doing dangerous jobs, etc, And frankly, that’s okay. In that I’m okay with this imbalance, men are in practice more disposable, we self select it. And that’s okay.

“ I feel like as a whole society is never really going to change until both genders are held to the same standards at every level.” Nah. See this is where things got fucked. My wife and I don’t split Household chores “evenly”, wanna know why? Because I’m taller, stronger and prefer doing the more manual labor. I prefer it for lots of reasons. One of them is that it feels really wrong to watch my wife wrestle with things that aren’t a struggle at all for me. We can’t be held to the same standard,…

No, there are very easy to observe ways to see proof of a round earth and fully comprehend it. My point wasn’t that it’s wrong to believe an authority about something beyond your own person comprehension, it’s that they argue precisely that very thing against religion. I’m not religious, nor anti climate science being a valid science, I was merely pointing out an inconsistency in their application of logic.

Shocking stupidity. I was banned from r/atheism for saying that people follownclimate change science mostly based on faith, and that very few in any of them fully grasp the science they so readily point to as obviously correct. Basically i got banned for pointing out that belief in a concept because an authority says so is pretty close to faith, which they hate so much, and were posting about someone calling this concept out as being so dumb. I got banned from r/atheism for disagreeing with a po…

It’s not pussypass at all. Yeah. What it is, is society going apeshit because of the gender of two astronauts. I had to DIG to find info on what they were actually doing: what was the mission. No. Even nasa was tripping over themselves to promote the gender of the astronauts, and wrote several paragraphs about the significance of an all women mission. Wrote a very short blip about what their mission was. This is more “the most interesting part about you, is that you’re a woman.”, said all of soc…

Lolz Well, that you were cool and comfortable enough to flip the joke/prank around says you are cool enough to play the prank on. I think the desire for vengeance fades after the sorrow sets in and you realize nothing brings them back. At that point, you see that all that a harsh penalty brings is more suffering to more people... it’s hard, but empathy is always the most powerful emotion for healing. That said... an indignant remorseless asshole would have a much harder time finding that empathy, from even the most cerebral and kind of people. And rightly so.

Indeed. Isolating for 18-30/35 is hard to do. Thanks for discussion instead of being an ass. Appreciated. Suicide is like.... an indicator that things have gone beyond repair. The rate this happens is the point of maximum failure. It could supposed that after a life of struggling and trying to find a way, a person takes their life at 50 because it has been 30 years of discouragement.... I dunno. I'm not saying sex sells. In fact that's completely not at all what I'm saying. Additionally my original comment on OP's post was to say, the dating world is only one dimension this plays out, and its a very narrow view. I am not suggesting that I can use the sex appeal of a young woman to market my business. I'm saying society doesn't give a fuck that I gave an 18 year old dude a job welding, or plumbing, or working on cars. But you put a woman in the same role and talk about promoting women in…

Bullshit. I’ll give you an example: I run a small business doing a typically masculine thing. I have the chance to hire two people. 18 year old boy 18 year old girl. Both fresh out of trade school. I’m a small business, so marketing matters a lot in growing a business. I want to attract attention to my business on social media, I can promote women in stem and trades and maker women, blah blah. So. No. It’s not just sex. Young single childless women are out competing their male counterparts in th…

The reality is actually worse... Young men and young women are treated entirely differently. The key difference is that society places value on women for being women. It is part of biological programming: women are to be protected because they are more crucial to species wide survival than men. That biologically driven bias results in social differences. Take a look at a young woman’s Instagram account. Support, kind words, well wishes, compliments for days. Young men don’t get the level of supp…

Not irrational at all. There are wackos out there. You just try to be friendly and suddenly you’re defending yourself against insane accusations from people who are your neighbors. It happens. I just refuse to let that sort of shit close off what I can offer the world. Even if that’s as simple as letting a little kid pet my dog.

Normal people don’t. Having a dog helps people see you as less threatening. I work around kids in a volunteer capacity from time to time. Honestly I keep a few simple rules and it’s no worries. Never be alone with a kid, and never touch them without proper permission (safety checks for helmets being on and buckled, etc). I’ve never had a problem or had weird looks. Like another commenter in this thread, I too an a bigger guy with a beard. No problems.

This is very poor logic. Much of what you say is correct. Your integration of that information into your life is extreme. Wrong. My words would indicate that not going on a hike at all, or beyond a specific distance, or only allowing yourself to hike inside of cell phone range for fear of injury, rather than making a careful decision like one based on weather. See you’re looking at the law as a fixed variable that is not worth the risk. For your analogy you chose bad weather on a hike. To follow your analogy, I’d point to what a “through hiker” must deal with, which is hiking in all weather conditions. For them, th…

I’m not saying choosing not to participate makes a man a coward. I’m saying doing so out of fear of poor decision making, or fear of being taken advantage of (reasons not to marry the woman regardless of the law) is a cowards reasoning. You don’t have to agree with me. And i agree with changing laws so they don’t favor one gender over another in divorce court. I just think a woman worth marrying and a relationship well managed doesn’t result in a man being totally ruined just because the law all…

I agree with default 50/50. I don’t agree with not participating because of unjust laws. It’s as simple as that, and you’re acting like saying men should step up and both work to change the laws, while also being husbands and fathers, is an awful sentiment. It’s an OPINION. MY opinion. Prenup that covers you guys being a middle class family both bringing in X income and you agree to a 50/50 splitnon shared possessions and savings, and no alimony. But then she gets pregnant with a few kids and you support her for 17 years while she is a stay at home mom. Prenup doesn’t touch this concept, so it doesn’t prevent alimony: only covered when you were equal partners. Prenups have to be well written, or yes, they get tossed.

Avoiding the system altogether harms young men who need fathers. Abandoning the system is a bad idea. Acting like feminists is a bad idea. If I misinterpreted your words, I’m sorry. Also it’s great you read Jordan’s book. I am disagreeing with the methodology that OP’s post advocates. Not saying it’s factually false. Alimony is easily removed from the table by a good prenup. If you never want kids, that’s totally cool. Marriage doesn’t matter much then. If you ever do, or simply value the concept of being joined together by a bond more than a casual promise, marriage has its value and you can manage the risks in many ways. Or you can do the radfem bidding and help destroy traditional families, leaving even more boys to grow up with no fathers.

You realize that your ability to have rights to your own kids is helped by a marriage right? You care about “men’s rights”? Then care about how boys need their dads around. It might have a lot to do with the fact that every human required a woman to be safe and cared for, fkr 9 months to make them. Socially we have historically viewed this as of the utmost importance, as it is at the very core of human existence. Men want the best women to raise their kids and lend their dna to creating kids. Its a very common mistake. Illustrating the error in a sentence helps remember the error in context. It’s important. If he types a reddit title this way, he writes emails this way. It reflects upon your intelligence even though perhaps it shouldn’t. It’s a favor, if you choose to see the greater context.

Not trying to be a dick but this is one of my major pet peeves. It’s never, ever “would of”. Let’s look at the following sentences: “You should have received the letter by now. Have you?” “Yes, I have”. Or “You should of received the letter by now. Of you? “Yes, I of”. The contraction you were looking for is, “would’ve”. Thanks for endulging my pedantic, correcting, jerk-faced ways.

The only reason to do this at all is if a person has medical issues that require the procedure. Any other reason is tribal in nature, cosmetically motivated, or medical benefits are argued that are not based on any sound research. These reasons are acceptable for a person to make for themselves, but I do not believe they are reasons to decide for someone else, to remove part of their genitals.

A) I was half joking. B) to specific further, and be more precise I’ll say, most teenage guys who learn to play an instrument hope to one day impress a potential romantic interest with the skill, this may rank low on the scale of priority but it’s in there. Lots of generally smart people buy into these simplistic, single root source, social concepts. I would guess because it requires the ability to hold an idea and see the many forks and possible outcomes that may result, in order to escape the group mentality. It’s not exclusive to topics of gender equality. And it’s crazy to see how much tribal psychology and “groupthink” in general influences peoples opinions.

I’m going to give you an analogy... When I was a kid, I learned to ride a bike using training wheels. When I was ready for them to come off, I didn’t realize it, and was terrified to agree to my parents to removing them. They convinced me it would be ok, they’d help me... rode off no problem, the training wheels, in fact were torn up and not really even functioning. But I knew only that they needed to be there. I needed the small assistance and reassurance. Only I didn’t. I learned to rely on th…

From the article: it sounds like the lesbian couple simply applied for help from the state when they fell on financial hard times. The state pushed the request for child support forward. And the state disregarded their contract with this man. I’m not sure if they consented to these ideas or not, but they did not approach the state asking for this man to be made responsible, and that’s an important thing to note.

Male disposability and a society that has socialized people to perceive any discussion of male suffering or victims, to be “whining”. Removing a mans testes would be the equivalent of removing a woman's ovaries. That's not type 1 FGM. Admittedly, the forms of FGM that remove the entire clitoris, and mutilate the inner and outer labia are definitely more severe than typical male genital mutilation. What isn't helpful is ranking acceptable forms of genital mutilation based on severity. Iirc there are ceremonial forms of FGM that are almost nothing more than a pin-prick and done symbolically, which is far less severe than typical…

Yeah, it's kind of like when my 13 year old nephew convinced me to let him drive my mustang GT. For some reason when he ran over a few pedestrians and crashed into a house, they threw ME in jail! Something about children not being adults and being unable to judge the consequences of certain actions, and something about, being an adult in a position to provide a certain level of care for the child makes me responsible for putting the keys into his hand and saying "go for it!"... I made this up, j…

Like a CPS visit and an interview with the child? When a woman leaves her husband and takes her children to a women's shelter (provided she doesn't have a teenage son), what evidence is demanded of abuse or danger to the children? What can men do in the same situation? Nothing, unless they manage to get it on video, apparently. No men's shelters after all.

It's this bizzare thing where feminists/sexist women want to belittle men, and prove women are tougher than men. I have attempted many times to explain that any social movement is at its core, a marketing campaign. The product is an ideology, and they want you to buy in. Men only do it for the pay, for the most part, and even then, it's only a small percentage of men who can physically do these jobs. Currently there are 5 million trade jobs that need to be filled by skilled tradesmen. Do you think a company would reject a women who was a skilled tradesperson? Doubtful, highly doubtful, a…

4 year doctorate? 1 year? Doctorate takes 8 years minimum. Let's compare 2 years in trade school to a 4 year degree. All the bullshit you study alongside your specified courses take a lot of that time up. General studies is bullshit and beyond developing writing skills doesn't do much in the way of functional education. A two year vocational training program produces a more educated person as it relates to the specific field of study, than a bachelors degree. I'll concede as far as that they are…
/r/MensRights02/11/16 03:51 AM
1

Yes. If we are basing this on the "definition" of education being quantity of knowledge, then knowing more about your specific field of study than another person makes you more educated. Knowing a little bit about many/more fields of study, but less about your specified field is a more well rounded education, but not more educated. Perhaps another way to put it would be to call it "effective education". This is why I said it depends on how you define educated.

Credit the measured and fair attitude of Cassie Jaye. She gave them very little to turn into a slam piece. She also is a tough one to argue with, she doesn't try to convince people in discussion. Potentially also true. My family was lower middle class. My sister, the oldest, and younger brother, the youngest, were the only two of my siblings to attend college. My other brothers and myself weren't good students and knew there was only student loans to pay for our schooling.
/r/MensRights01/11/16 05:40 AM

I disagree. Typically you're probably right. But most of this depends on your definition of "educated". Educated can mean a lot of things, to some it means a possession of a certain agreed upon set of knowledge. To others it means possessing a very complete "toolbox" of skill sets with which to derive a solution to a problem. These two things have a lot of overlap: having read many works from classic thinking authors for example gives perspectives which open a pathway to new thought processes. H…

The director stated that numerous people commented they'd love to make this movie, but they considered it career suicide. It's not going to get the traction it should, but it clearly shows how each side operates; good and bad on both. No platforming is a vile technique that is used massively by feminists: once it's shown what message they wanted to oppress, there will be much back pedaling, and lots of "not all feminists". Irony will be infuriating and hilarious.

I didn't mean to say it was a required trait of being a good man. "Could it possibly be that women aren't interested in that field? No, it must be sexism." This is feminism's greatest problem in a nutshell. They identify a "problem" with society, that something isn't equal between men and women, something perhaps as simple as percentages of male and female workers in X field, and then, rather than evaluate and study why this might be, they make an assumption, "its discriminatory, inequality, PATRIARCHY!" and then attack how to solve the problem. Perhaps if mor…

Uh... Maybe I am insane, but aren't there states in which 16 is the legal age of consent? I feel like a 17 year old kind of knows what they're doing, and while not legally an adult, it certainly isn't always a case of victimization. The double standards are indeed BS, but I just don't see someone having sex with a 17 year old in the same light as someone having sex with a 14 year old.

So, the sad part here is you aren't speaking in hyperbole. Many feminists believe that, to put it metaphorically: the pendulum is swinging back the other direction, and will continue in that direction for a little while, and that's ok, because women spent so much time in disadvantaged situations. also they will state that until the workforce and wage gap reflect the numbers of college grads, it isn't enough. I think the negativity towards gay men's sexuality isn't viewed as quite as threatening as straight men's. It is held more in contempt, and disgust. The problem is: The right to abortion is based on the widely accepted concept that it is a woman's choice regarding her own body. In that, you enter into the act of sex with this person with this knowledge. And it is not reasonable to expect a woman to endure pregnancy to provide you a child she does not want. It's a biological double standard we cannot change. I do agree, however, with men being able to walk away and take no responsibility for the child. The "financial abortion".

Clearly I don't speak for all women, or even some of them. But the countless women supporting the notion of not enjoying being treated a specific way speaks for a good portion of them. If there were even divisiveness about it, there would be a lot more women countering the argument. Why is it so hard to accept that telling …

Why? "Smile". Why are they asking a stranger to smile? probably because they want to enjoy objectifying them because they find them attractive, and know that if she smiles she will look happy, and probably even prettier. It's also because they think it's clever enough of a line that makes them seem like they are saying "hey, smile, its a great day, a nice world! be happy, enjoy life!" but that's not what they are saying, and everybody knows it. Clearly women are saying "I don't like it when stra…

I'm just too busy and don't value what I will gain from this discussion. But clearly you want my opinion to be defended. So. Here. I find you to be a bit too close to the line of an extremist. You believe that men suffer more greatly based on gender issues than women. Assuming we are speaking only of the western world, your argument can be waged as you are, but I find that flawed when we are talking about the fact that less than a lifetime ago women were up against a lot. Yes, feminism has won a…

I don't think they are all "gynocentrists". Just idealists who also can't accept that idealism of concepts like human nature, public safety, etc are not always the reality. They won't accept that reality not because they necessarily believe women superior, but more because they don't accept the world as it is. Which could be commendable, but they have lost grip with the realities of the world, and human nature, and are treating a symptom of a massive societal issue, instead of the primary causes…

YouTube is an international and amazing platform which she used to vault to such notoriety. Downplaying the power of YouTube is sort of misguided. YouTube is shared so easily that you will still watch more than 80% of linked video content through their servers. Better than YouTube? I disagree, more like a companion piece. Because many of the same problems women face regarding prejudice, etc men also face, sort of the other side of the coin. Men and women both face issues in our society. I don't believe either is "oppressed", but that we have some societal issues that created a lot of ideas of what men and women are, and what is expected of them. You're welcome. A lot of the sexism towards boys isn't overt. It's more subtle than what is directed at young girls. Some boys want to play make believe, and enjoy more imaginative play... Forgive my ignorance of the legal system, but if the judge acts in direct violation of of federal law, isn't there a step other than appeal to hold that judge accountable? If I were a judge in a state that marijuana was illegal in, and I simply just gave every single marijuana charge a "not guilty" verdict because I felt the federal law was wrong in this case, as well as the state law, surely I would be removed from the bench. How can this judge ignore federal law/process in his proceedings? TL;…

Women "leaders" of the MRM are well respected because they lend balance to the message, and help soften the delivery of the information. a women advocating for men and boys causes other women to take pause and in some cases consider what is being said more seriously. Of course women are well respected as outspoken advocates for equality... It's sort of the entire point of the MRM... equal rights and responsibilities.

So.... There were at one time before Hitler's third reich, discussions regarding eugenics. eu·gen·ics yo͞oˈjeniks/ noun the science of improving a human population by controlled breeding to increase the occurrence of desirable heritable characteristics. Developed largely by Francis Galton as a method of improving the human race, it fell into disfavor only after the perversion of its doctrines by the Nazis. The Nazis showed us how well that idea works out.

Based on that post, I don't think most feminists truly understand what the patriarchy is. It IS a woman's choice to live in fear or not, but the open hostility towards this stuff only bolsters the "look how angry and violent men are" rhetoric they use to justify not being able to tell a rapist from a man. While nobody has a right to dictate what others say and think, you cannot just say literally anything you want... There are laws about this. It is called assault. yesallwomen is based in valid reasoning. In a statistical sense, all women have experienced some form of harassment based on sexism, and that's the very start. The problem is that the narrative that resulted in "not all men are like that" was obviously ineffective at communicating the issues of harassment women face in a way that "men" were receptive to. Instead we hear generalization of our entire gender, and feel attacked simply for being male. In fact, "not all men" should really be "not most…

It's a sorting tool, a label used to describe the topic at hand. The need for such a label is because there is such a large amount of misinformation being spread about the men's rights movement. I'm not sure that it doesn't concern this sub reddit. Feminism is somehow accepted by society to the point that actions like these are full of apologists for the "extremists". Yet if men acted in anyway close to this they'd be universally condemned. Even by this sub full of terrible misogynists! (/s). Point is, this isn't remotely close to gender equality, and is yet another example displaying the difference in how men as women are treated by society.

This is why so many people have chosen to label themselves as "egalitarians" rather than gender specific rights groups oriented labels. I believe we humans are created equal. And we have certain human rights as a result. Human is the only thing required. Race and gender matter as much as the color of a car in terms of it's usefulness as a car.

I think pointing out that you believe feminists wouldn't allow the equivalent type of thing shown without complaint is simply pointing out that feminists can often be hypocritical and miss the mark on egalitarianism. But OP, I don't care that this was shown on TV. I watch horror movies. Just last night I watched an episode of Game Of Thrones in which a man's penis was severed and sent to his family... It's meant to stir a reaction in you. It's "art", its entertainment, and its not an attack on m…

So let me see if I've got this: people are ignorant to the concept of transgendered people in large quantity. This is something, that while may well have existed for a long time, is relatively shocking and new to still a large number of cultures in america. As a result wide spread ignorance to the issues that face transgenered people exist. In response, ignorant questions get asked from time to time, and in this case, an ignorant question was asked in front of a large audience. So, The time has …

Transgender is new. It requires surgery, hormone therapy, etc. It is a process to "transition" into the opposite sex so you feel on the outside, how you feel on the inside. This is something that IS unusual to the VAST majority of people. It is a pretty damn new thing. What blows my mind is the attitude that surrounds it. This attitude of shaming a person who doesn't know the particulars of what a "trans-person" goes through, what the proceedure is like, why they choose to transition, what sort …

Feminism is rooted in precisely that which it is defined as. Modern feminists have had to find new things to fight for, to argue about, and to be offended and upset by. Are the issues women face non-issues? no, not at all, but they are comparable to what men face, and while there ought to be organizations fighting to continue working toward an egalitarian society, many of the causes and talking points of feminism have stepped beyond the definition of working for equality, and are instead focused…

I would like to see a source for this "14 times more likely than men to die in a disaster" statistic. That would mean the death toll is 5000+ So, lets combine ALL children (i would assume they used 0-17 yrs of age for "children") and ALL women, and I am guessing you are at a majority of the people in a situation already... now, lets do the math. for every 1…

No... Because your range of ability to enjoy something has nothing to do with the sensations that someone else experiences. Your 100% intensity is going to seem pretty damned intense, because it is your 100% and is the only frame of reference you know. So saying sex isn't as "pleasurable" for a man with an uncircumcised penis is inaccurate. Saying a mans glans is far more sensitive to direct stimulation when he is uncircumcised is accurate, but pleasure derived from that direct stimulation is en…

This will keep more girls from playing with toy guns, cars, trucks, and later the engineering toys like knex and certain Lego style toys. Yes the poorly performed circumcisions are terrible, terrible things. The best performed circumcisions are pointless, and while I don't suffer any of the side effects listed by this gent in his comments, I do sympathies with him. Common reasoning from the feminist camp goes like this: Violent against men perpetrated by women is so rare, and the patriarchy is so powerful and there is a history of violence against women perpetrated by men that goes back into history so far that it's not really worth mentioning, after all with so much oppression there is bound to be some backlash. Not even kidding. I've literally heard that argument more than once.

There are a couple pieces of info that need to accompany the chunk of data regarding how many men will get prostate cancer vs how many women will be affected by breast cancer. The older a man gets, the more likely he is to have prostate cancer. Above 80 years old something like 2/3rds of men have it. So that skews the numbers heavily on that statistic. However, prostate cancer that occurs in the 40s is more likely to be a faster moving tumor that can escape the prostate and infect larger regions…

It's tough for many men to talk about these sorts of issues. The momentum of the MO is helping to turn that tide. I think that seeing as how this is pretty much the only thing men have for awareness, and that it's pretty new, we are still learning. Women have walks, bike rides, prime time TV spots and an entire color dedicated to breast cancer awareness/find raising etc. Men have the mustache and very little experience promoting specific causes as a gender. Pretty sure literally gouging a mans eyes out of his head with your bare hands will have an appreciable result. Eyes are fragile, throats are fragile. Self defense courses aren't worthless, but they have to be an ongoing thing, not a one day seminar. Hopefully they teach better pressure points than that. And throat and eyes are places I always tell my wife to go for... Literally try to rip a man eyeballs out if he attacks you. Smash his throat in as hard as you can and try to rip his eyes out. I'm all for another class on campus for men's self defense, 100%. For awhile I debated this stuff with some feminist friends. They would point to college degrees in women's studies to tell me how ignorant I am. And how I am sheltered. And how I don't really know. Etc. The word "men" is thrown around with negativity a lot. An entire gender is referred to when the topic of tape comes up, as though it were common for most men to rape people.
