Arguments in general are weak without context. My SO is a very empathetic person but that can only go so far toward understanding my feelings. Sometimes I sit down with him and say, "Such-and-such is happening. It causes these consequences, and makes me feel these ways, because of stuff and things." Sometimes I wait until he personally experiences what has been bugging me. That way, he appreciates the issue without my bringing it up away from its context. I "read back" my nag to myself and often…

The old "Going Out of Business" sale

Oh geez, I can only imagine experiencing that. I can see how shutting down conversations like the other commented described would work well. Being introverted, I found better luck at controlling how much I emote by doing things like yoga, a speech-making class, and helping actor friends with their lines.

That's good! Sorry if I wasn't clear, I've been dealing with a sick dog all morning. It does read like you aren't going out of your way to have time with him, but what you're doing right now isn't working if you're asking for advice about it. Of course context is everything but based on the bits I quoted I think he knows your feelings and may not be navigating them as well as he could be. Increased contact obviously wouldn't help you with your feelings, and maintaining contact isn't helping the …

Stay out of it. You have an ulterior agenda and no real knowledge of his partner. A long-term partner, his childhood sweetheart. Your post reads as a hamstering away of manipulating him for your benefit. Edit: took out the last sentence as it was a bit much. I understand that you are asking about how to handle it, but based on your examples he has tried to put distance between you two after he offered to help me out with it just after we met. But pretty soon after he mentioned that he has a girl…

Congratulations! Wishing you a lifetime of happiness. I do not see how being a SAHM would kill attraction - does that mean men always fell out of love with their wives back before women worked outside the home? I do not think that these women are giving you advice that is in your best interest. You know your fiance from the position of being his romantic partner better than anyone else does. Staying home and remaining interesting are not mutually exclusive. A boring woman will be boring regardle…

I am glad that menopause did not affect you but YMMV. True, YMMV, I'm sure there are a few women out there who have tried everything and nothing works. But as I read OP's post, I imagined what most women would do if they suddenly became single. Would they be expecting a new boyfriend to put up with dryness and him never having a say in how long they go for, or would she be finding ways to be fun, flirty, and ready for action with her new man?

I will answer from the perspective of how I understand evolutionary psych (you probably know more than me on the topic)(edit: haha, just read /u/coffeedynamics response, it's great!). As the defenders and aggressors, men have had plenty of challenge and variety for countless generations, and thus crave security and calm from their most intimate relationships. As the caregivers and homemakers, women have evolved within a paradigm of relative security, and crave excitement from their most intimate…

ISTP. I'd like to think people can't be fully defined by categorization, but I fit the 16personalities description to a T.

I think this man is somewhat unique. He finds a way to leverage even the most benign conversations into a rant about topics he's focused on: religion, social movements, certain ethnicities and cultures. Kind of a neckbeard euphoric atheist. I suspect that my appearance offends his sensibilities. Thankfully it is usually easy to avoid him.

/u/strawberryandcheese responded with what I would have said to your questions and follow-up. This situation is more complicated than it may seem. It involves judgment of what constitutes getting more for less, where the lines are drawn between savvy and selfish, and what we standards we can reasonably expect to be upheld in professional interactions (and the questionable validity of those standards). I do not have an answer that could be applied universally. Personally, I do my best to protect …

I'm trying to understand where you're coming from with your questions and advice. Seems like there must be a difference in culture or something.

What kind of man will respect a woman and want to be in a relationship with her after finding her so willing to go against her beliefs for some D?

There are very few women around me. It's roughly 20/80 at the professional level, far lower than other related fields. There is only one woman besides me in the department who puts effort into her appearance. I suspect that this is due to her being the wife of a natural Alpha male (former professional athlete). She is a joy to work with. Some women are indifferent, like one I'll be working with more closely later this year. She is respectful and genuine. The other women - it depends. I think peo…

Could you further explain why you think AWALT is BS? I find it unusual that someone would take that position while identifying with AWALT traits ("too much alpha leaves me ... Feeling like an outsider in my own relationship. Too much beta disgusts me").

From what I understand, even conception dates are highly accurate, usually within a 48 hour window. This means women who do not know who the father is are fucking multiple men raw back-to-back. BP has made sure that men have no idea just how deep the lying goes.

It has been a sweet deal for you, and not at all for her. What is she, the Mother Theresa of booty calls? Get out before the other foot drops.

Consider the deal she's offering at face value: She is sexually monogamous, but she is not 100% sure you are too She has a clean bill of health, but she is not 100% sure you do too She is taking a contraceptive, but is still willing to risk that tiny window of possibility that could easily be closed by using condoms She sought you out on Facebook, initiating contact She spent a significant amount of money to be in your presence and good graces, despite being a single mother This deal is very unb…

I find this confusing: Another reason why sheng nu have come under attack may be the gender imbalance in China. According to the Sixth National Population Census, which was conducted in November 2010, there were almost 34 million more men than there were women in the country. China has a larger gender disparity than average - about 118 boys are born for every 100 girls, against a global average of 103 to 107. Some are even calling it a demographic crisis. And yet, these women don't seem to be ma…

Thank goodness. I never commented on here with this account but did on my previous one. The cliqueishness was astounding. Once one "cool girl" had something snotty to say, the rest piled on. Very glad to hear that this is being addressed - RPW seemed a bastion of female sensibility on an otherwise BP internet. It kept me coming back even after deciding to no longer participate. Now happily resubscribed.
