You need a good divorce attorney. That’s where you’ll get the best advice. When you have a good attorney handling the messy stuff, you will literally sleep knowing you’re handling things right with all matters involving your kids. Once resentment builds (and it will), you need a legal guide to keep in check what you can and cannot do. I’m an attorney but don’t practice, and thought handling my own divorce was a good idea. Nope. Made my divorce a living hell, emotionally.

You definitely sound a lot like me. It’s challenging enough for me to focus 50 percent of my brain space toward my endeavors and 50 percent toward my son. I would likely be like you and try to find a way to straddle some sort of line that is impossible to ride. I had one semi relationship post divorce that lasted maybe 2 months at most. Even though this chick was awesome, easy going, awesome in bed, the whole 9 yards, I felt trapped and overloaded. That feeling of not completing your goals is li…

I’m 3 and a half years post divorce from a cheating spouse, and believe me, it goes away. Took me about a year and a half to fully “forget” about the betrayal and what not since we share a kid, but that part goes away. In terms of the loneliness and what not, I filled up a lot of my initial post divorce time with one night stands and fanciful delusions of replacing my ex with a faithful partner, but that wasn’t the healthy way to go about it. I figured out that you just inevitably get over it, b…

Having gone through vaguely familiar aspects of what you’ve shared, I’ll give you my two cents. IF your wife’s behavior has become worse after you told her you were searching for guys/bi, keep in mind that’s a lot for her to take in. My ex wife cheated on me with my best friend in my house, and it took me a year and a half to get over (including after our permanent separation). So I would let her blow the lines out for now, and just realize that the feeling of being betrayed like that is shatter…

Yeah, that’s exactly how I feel. I have respect for my friend’s opinion who said it was a bit weird, so I figured it was worth typing out. He was likely thinking I had some sort of testosterone issue or something since he’s a Physician’s Assistant. Truest truth: The post nut clarity post divorce is the most clarity you’ll ever experience. You’ll jerk off before you make almost any female driven decision, unlike pre-marriage and marriage.

The post divorce cycle of constantly trying to replace the ex is a hideous cycle. I went through it but eventually just made the conscious decision that manically dating is causing more psychological distress than it is improving anything (and to focus on my son). Women have an easier time dating since women are choosy and men aren’t. My ex-wife has been stuck in this manic dating cycle for 3 and a half years, and it just gets worse and worse for her. Once I cut the dating chord, after about two…

I wish I had this problem but I’m likely hardwired a bit unusually. I have my son 50 percent of the time so the other 50 percent I spend working on my pipe dream creative/entrepreneurial pursuits. That feeling of quasi relief to be getting a break from childcare responsibilities is short lived, so I get it. After about 4 days, I start to feel pretty empty without my son. TV and unproductive entertainment only make it worse, so my suggestion would be to start trying to learn how to do things you’…
