Yes, there are certainly differen't ways to transition and different meanings of the word transition. There is a "social transition" and a "medical transition". Those are the terms that are used more often, but they describe "sex transition" and "gender transition" in my opinion. "cis" is a latin prefix that predates the "LGBT community" by quite a few centuries. The fact that people resist the use of the prefix that is precisely the opposite of trans is absurd.
