I saw a post one time where giving someone your number was a good idea because if they're NOT interested, they don't have to text you. It's a good way to avoid pressure / confrontation so I'm all for it tbh. Also, not giving your number to strangers is a big plus.

Yeah, you're completely right. This person has no idea what happened to his financial situation. This is an insane reach. I've had times where my mother, who raised me, couldn't afford certain items in my life, but that's because she got laid off at an older age & life just went to shit. I don't understand why this would be down voted. Calling the police for matters that don't require LEO interaction should be/is frowned upon. It's also a widely used tactic by racists to oppress POC.
