Totally, best it to agree on her telling if she needs something fixed.

You do seem to make a point! Even around mere friends it seems to help a bit. This friend of mine didn't really want to get hugs, etc. But after some vulgar jokes, she seems to open up a bit more.

From personal experience: if you text a lot while you haven't met in person yet... that comes off as really needy/creepy.

I would say a simple "Hey" opener would work even better if you spot something interesting on their profile pictures. Plenty throw up a picture of them doing an activity. Throwing in "I see you do X, how did you like that?" sparks a topic to talk about.

Context is important, do you rub it off often? Do you exercise? Unhealthy habits?

Two instances: Instance one: At a theme park I was attending a birthday trip. There was this petite girl who was attending due to a mutual friend. She started out with asking me whether or not I'd be game to tease this guy she was seeing. I obliged and she actually seemed to like how I treated her. Hence during some rides she took my hands and pretty much wrapped my arms around her. I can't quite remember the amount of times she tried to hold hands as well. Fast forward a couple of weeks later, …

Really, just go around and have a chat with as many people as possible. You eventually will hang around with people you like

If you compliment a girl with something common such as "Oh you look amazing!", the impact of the compliment will eventually be less. Instead, if you really like the shirt she is wearing, or how she did her hair... It'll be a bit more genuine! "I think your hairdo fits you well!". Now I'm not saying that you should copy what I'm saying here... but I hope you do get the essence of it? Of course, eventually when you get into a relationship with a person.. you can compliment him/her easier.

As often as needed. It's also quite personal. I joke around a lot and make sarcastic comments. But when I see someone who has spent a lot of time on looking good, I will give a compliment the person. I think it's also important to compliment something specific, but that is my method.

If you constantly compliment her, you will come off as someone desperate for attention. Reserve compliments for genuine achievements. Like... She gets a winning shot at a contest.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
