They did post the reasoning for "Why". Both the man and police say Boyd's medication had recently been changed. If her medication was for psychological reasons it may have had a great deal of impact on her behavior, but they didn't share her medical history.

They do have different laws. I'm not sure where in Australia this occurred, but it appears there is only one area where there is no defense against having sex with a minor. Practically all of the others have defenses based on believing the underage person is legally aged. So unless there's a distinct court bias that doesn't show up in the laws, then this case would've gone the same if it were a man or a woman accused of the crimes.
