I just stumbled on this sub. I’m a woman, not sure if I’m even allowed to post, but you are actually really attractive in terms of physical appearance. However* you do give off this nervous insecure energy, and that kinda put me on edge. It’s 100% related to the energy you’re putting out; I know this is easier said than done but you gotta get out of your head and just relax. It’s the nervous energy that you gotta replace with a calm, safe one. edit: I just reread your first sentence and saw you …

The same has also sadly happened to my cousin, leaving her to battle breast cancer alone and as a single mom with two kids.

I think the point of the post was not that he died from* not seeing a woman, but rather he died without having ever seen one. They noted that he was so sheltered that he had never seen an automobile either. Idk, I thought that was pretty interesting actually.

What I’m trying to say is, the fact that he cleaned his room so he could have sex with you doesn’t really match the energy behind “if he wanted to, he would.” It’s not like you just told him that you would feel more comfortable in a clean space and he wanted to make you happy; he had sex as an incentive. He didn’t do it for you, he did it for himself. It’s like a woman raving about how she got her husband to do the chores in exchange for a blowjob It’s not enough for a man to do what you say; yo…

I don’t really see that as a good thing though; he just did that to get something out of you, not because he genuinely saw the virtue in it and wanted to better himself.

This sounds like satire to me; many captions on his posts are along the same vein as well. I might be wrong, but to me it sounds like he is actually calling out the men who fit this description.

I’m pretty sure they already know how shitty it feels though. In fact, I’d say they do it because they know how shitty it feels for women.

Ahh, I see your point :) If he cannot be respectful enough to abide by your wishes for your engagement ring, imagine what other preferences / boundaries he will disregard down the line because he thinks he knows better. I would still just let a man know what you like without emphasizing that it’s important that he pays attention to it. See if he does, you know?

I don’t think actually telling him that will serve as a legitimate measure of how much he values you. He could just get you the expensive ring to lock you down, especially if you literally tell him he needs to do that to marry you. The history behind engagement rings is actually quite sexist, as it is a public show of financial investment from a man, which women then wear as clout. Women derive their value and social status from essentially showing-off that they got chosen. The bigger the ring, …

Ah, I wrote that long-ass essay thinking you were a non-Muslim 😂 I go by the ex-Muslim sub sometimes, and I get it. I would have been ex-Muslim too if I were raised with oppressive ideals. Thankfully my family is very liberal, and we have a very progressive understanding of Islam that’s been passed down the generations. My own grandmother memorized the Qur’an and was a scholar but wore knee-length skirts in public lol So yeah, it’s not in my family’s understanding of the religion that a woman sh…

Yes, first of all this is a Hadith, which is considered something that the prophet is alleged to have said. There are six Hadith books in total, and Bukhari and Sahih Muslim are considered to be the most authentic because they were written down while the prophet was still alive. As this is from Bukhari, it is considered authentic. However, there are some problems with the English translation. First of all, angels are not able to send “curses” but can merely express their disappointment. Furtherm…

That’s false; sexual fulfillment of women is greatly stressed upon in Islam and it says in the Qur’an that sexual intercourse is meant for mutual pleasure, and cannot be carried out through compulsion. It is stated that one of the (three) most cruel men include those who initiate sex without foreplay, and there is even an entire Hadith book (sayings of the Prophet) that is dedicated to “The Kind Treatment of Women.” Biologically, women need to feel relaxed and turned on in order to have pleasure…

That has long been debunked; she was 19 - 23. In the past, Arabian societies were so misogynistic that they started counting a girl’s age after she had gotten her period, as she was then “a woman.” So they would refer to a girl as being 3-years-old when she was in fact like 12. Even scholars from the most fundamentalist sects now concede that she was at least 19.

I think an HVM would also be taking his time in getting to know and vetting a woman he is interested in. It takes time to develop genuine feelings; if he buys her nice things too early his feelings are probably superficial and will thus be short-lived.

I don’t know; I didn’t really see the issue with this. I do this all the time out of politeness more than anything. I feel like grilling him about whether he was actually crying or not was a little unnecessary, but at the same time I didn’t like how he said “thanks for asking.”

After reading the edit, to be honest I kind of understand what he meant by that. If he was just gently moving your hair away from your face and caressing it, I can see how he could have felt hurt when you asked him not to. I could see myself getting hurt too over something like this 🙈 Honestly I really don’t think this is something worth breaking up over at all; especially since you said he is usually very attentive in bed. Has he done something like this before?

I think she means that by saying “so much more,” it implies that it being a women’s issue is not enough to stand alone as an alarming topic. IMO it’s not really an existential threat as the women are not going extinct per se but are rather being treated badly. Like how slavery in the past wouldn’t really have been classified as an “existential threat to Black people.”

To be fairrr, forced marriage is totally prohibited in the Qur’an. Unfortunately that doesn’t stop Muslim communities from carrying out horrific cultural practices. Not every practice in the world deserves to be respected just because it’s a practice 🙄

This is incredibly sad. The issue of force marriage in Muslim communities desperately needs to be more widely-addressed.

I like how she reacted because it really shines a lot on just how egotistical the men who make these kinds of videos are. There are so many men on Youtube like this; it was refreshing to see them get called out for a change.

That article was revolting to read. So many people do not realize just how misogynistic the standards of modesty that society enforces on young women really are.
