Trying my best

Yeah. Sadly my mind has been absolutely wrecked from years of being told that. I have tons of trust problems (partially due to that) and thus I struggle to open up to people in fear. Therapy has been great but I have a long ways to go.

I honestly wish I was born female, so I didn't have to deal with people calling me unmanly for showing emotions

Yes I'd get crapped on for showing emotions and feelings. In fact I was told for years by teachers (females) that I was unmanly for showing emotions. My parents do the same.

By my family for my whole life and my elementary/middle school teachers for 10 years

Being told for years by my elementary/middle school teachers (and also neglected by councelors) that my emotions were invalid because I was a guy and that I was a baby and unmanly for doing so. Didn't help that I was severely bullied not just by them but by my classmates till the 8th grade (when I moved). So nearly 10 years of emotional invalidation from them and lifelong from my own family really screwed me up. I have severe trust issues among other problems.

I was heavily bullied and abused not only by my parents but my classmates too. As my parents would easily dismiss any problems I've had (basically emotional neglect), I turned to my teachers but they degraded and insulted me for being "unmanly" and a "baby" (not the only thing they bullied me for btw). Never did that to anyone else... I was the scapegoat to absolutely everyone but I thought it was normal since I was just an oblivious kid. And no, I didn't get help from a specialist as it was sho…

Been wanting to be happy and loved for pretty much my whole life but I've always been given bad cards. A part of me still hopes for better days ahead tho.

I'm suffering from lifelong abuse and neglect from a lot of people including my parents which has turned me into someone who isn't "masculine" at all. I was laughed and patronized for opening up, called names and just told to "suck it up" which caused me to never open up to anyone including my friends. Luckily therapy has allowed me to open up more than I could ever, but I still have a long ways to go

Literally when I was in elementary school. My teachers called me a baby and unmanly and bullied and berated me for showing emotions, my parents were and still are emotionally unavailable and also berate me, I had no friends growing up and was socially isolated due to the bullying and abuse. This happened for 10 years and only stopped after we moved but the trauma that I've dealt with my entire life has made me not be able to open up and have severe trust issues among other problems

For me it's emotions. I was constantly put down and belittled for talking about my feelings and meoyions

Hopefully there's someone like that for me. I've never dated partially due to that.

Somewhat related but I was called a baby and unmanly for showing emotions and opening up to teachers while they never did the same to my female classmates

Dismissed any help because I'm "fine" and gaslit me my entire life that therapy was a waste of time and money so I surpressed everything. They were emotionally neglectful also. Didn't help that I was severely bullied and socially isolated (also had ADHD tendencies) in my childhood and anyone I tried to talk to about my feelings either dismissed it or laughed/patronized me for being a "baby" and "unmanly" for showing emotions and opening up. I have severe trust problems partially because of that …

I started going to emergency therapy last year against my parent's wishes just because it was too much for me to handle

I'm sorry to hear that. Yeah I've been wanting to jump into dating (as I never dated) but seeing how the dating scene is, that's a big nope for me.

I was heavily abused and bullied as a kid by my classmates and when I tried to ask teachers for help they laughed and belittled me, calling me a baby and unmanly for showing emotions. 10 years of that plus the lifelong abuse from my own family made me completely shut down emotionally. Yay.

Yeah, I just have a lot of hoops to go through for me to be comfortable in dating (like trust). But I haven't given up.

This is one of the reasons why I'm terrified of dating. I'm a very sensitive person and a lifelong victim of abuse, especially verbal and emotional.

I was berated and mocked by my female (and male but mostly female) teachers/adults for showing emotions due to the fact I was severely bullied and abused by not just my classmates but my own family and I also struggled in studies. I was told things like "stop being such a baby", "suck it up", and "showing emotions as a guy is unmanly". This happened all through elementary and middle school and it stopped when I was forced to move due to the bullying getting unbearable. My family also is neglectf…

I nearly died at birth and went through tons of surgeries to keep me alive, which is one of the reasons I have body dysmorphia and various health issues. I was heavily bullied and abused by kids and adults alike in elementary and middle school, including lifelong abuse from my own family. Kids would physically, verbally and mentally abuse me. I desperately needed someone to talk to about my feelings but any adult at school I went to laughed in my face, told me to suck it up and stop being such a…

Growing up, I was heavily bullied physically and verbally from my classmates and teachers in elementary/middle school, not to mention the abuse and physical/emotional neglect from my own family. I tried to ask for help from any adult that would listen but I was told to suck it up and to not cry because "crying is unmanly". Nearly 10 years of that and I have severe trust issues, never open up to people, and other problems. I have been doing therapy for almost a year now, but I still have a long w…
