True. I see where they come from though, since period has throughout history been considered dirty (I mean, you werent able to enter church if you had it..) and rape has consistently been justified and/or blamed on the victims. However, whilst these things may still happen in many parts of the world, it doesn't so much true in the west today. So yeah, whilst I get the point it is a pretty culturally irrelevant and outdated quote.

Yes, I know I am and of course I know not everyone stands behind it. I am Swedish and I don't. But there is for sure a fair amount of Swedes who have come to believe that if you are pro equality you are automatically a feminist. Its not that strange though considering that is the kind of bs that has been spread lately, even by MPs.

Male rape and the stigma surrounding it was one of the things that really made me start calling myself an egalitarianist rather than a feminist. It is incredibly sad how much attention female rape gets in media when there are barely legislations to support the fact that men can get raped, and no help for those who have been. Its absolutely disgusting.

It belittles the actions of women today and our female ancestors, saying that they were automatically oppressed just for being women. It ignores every achievement of women, and any achievement promoted by feminism involves women "beating the odds". Yay! Spread the word. Been trying to Swedes that there is an alternative to feminism, but everyone seems to think that if you are pro equality you are by default a feminist. Which obviously is not true.
