You got the wrong day, it's Nov.

How does this happen? I have 4 kids with 3 women and only pay 1 (my ex-wife) $50 a week for 2 kids. My oldest kids mom tried but couldn't get anything because she didn't tell me till she was 14 and since they live in another country I wouldn't be able to see her, therefore no payments. I honestly don't get how these men are getting screwed so badly.

I just joined the Masons to become a better man.

File First! Then she becomes the defendent. It's easier to prove your case than defend your case.

It's probably one very specific case when it happened, and you know humans are masters of blowing something out of proportion.

This is pretty much what I told my daughter.

Maybe he drank all hers too and she was like no man let me at least get a little buzzed first.

It also has a lot to do with who the plaintiff and who the defendant are. Usually it's the women leaving the man and so the man is on the defensive side. I left her so she was on the defensive side. (also I really impressed her lawyer with my attitude, think she wanted to bang) .

How does this happen? I have 2 kids with my ex-wife and have them 50% of the time. She has primary because her town had a better school. I pay $25 a week for each of them, total of $200 a month for both of my kids. I buy them everything I can and whatever I don't buy my ex will get. How in the world do people end up paying enormous amounts of money for child support?
/r/MensRights03/01/17 07:41 PM

How is that possible? Did you even lawyer up, hit the gym and delete Facebook? I took out my 401k and got a good lawyer, $50 a week for 2 kids. And alimony wasn't even an option. I said I wanted it even and wouldn't budge. Who initiated the divorce? You or her? The one who initiates has the upper hand because the other one becomes the defendant.

If a guy didn't know he does not have to pay back child support.

Yes, he said since she is 15 then she can decide for herself. Specifically on which parent to live with. I would still need to go to court but her opinion would have heavy weight.

I want to show him appreciation but have no idea what my daughters life has been, so far it seems fine. I've thought about calling to talk to him, but while I can be very nice and understanding, I can also be blunt, rude, and forceful in a conversation.

It kinda happened on Facebook. When I first added her I might have pushed her away by being so loving. I'd post Great Daughter I love you stickers and stuff on her wall. Then a long conversation began on my page about what a crazy bitch the mother was. I'm more thinking about writing a letter, or email, or text. A blog is a good idea, too.
/r/MensRights07/05/14 11:38 PM

Thanks anyway. I could go there and she could be delighted to see me, but then again I could go and they could call the police. I just need to talk to her first.

My daughter can decide now, if she contacts me and wants me to see her, or even move to the states then I'm ready. I already contacted a lawyer in Canada.

The hardest part is talking about it to my family, I have 3 kids at home. I'm worried about everything backfiring if I go there before I talk to her.
/r/MensRights07/05/14 06:10 PM

Well put. I've considered all those angles. Either her or the mom blocked me on social networking sites. I have her phone number (as long as she hasn't changed it in me)

Yup, it has to do with drugs. I used them to my benefit and had a wonderful life. The mother had problems as a teen and a negative view on drugs.

She is married, I'm sure he knows the story. The mom was civil until I started talking about my GF. I was wondering about contacting him, he has been in her life since she was 5 and I wonder what his view on it is.

The thing is that I don't want to go to court if my daughter doesn't want me. I don't want her to feel threatened. It will most likely end up in court. I just gave her like 4 months of space and am ready to take the next step.

I can't argue with you. I never thought I'd be in this situation. I got married and had 2 kids, fine, that's what life is. We didn't get along so got divorced, it was mutual. I don't pay her much because I always have our kids, I can't go 2 days without seeing them, I buy them everything and get stuff they need for their moms house. Then I met another women a few years later and yes, we did have a kid too fast, if there was one mistake that was it. We are domestic partners and our son goes to a …

I would have a problem paying back support. I would have a problem paying future support. I can't just go to Nova Scotia on Tuesday, it's kinda far. I'm not asking about this to try to buy her, if she is my daughter then I want to see and help raise her. As far as I see it there is no reason for me to pay one cent. If I want to be in her life then she should be allowed the right to see me, and then the mother and I would discuss splitting the costs of visitations.

exactly 9 months after I was there....
/r/MensRights12/10/13 07:42 PM

So far no mention of courts being involved. What I'm doing now is lawyering up for potential troubles in the future.
/r/MensRights12/10/13 07:39 PM

So, if it turns out that I am her dad. Would it be better for me to go see her or for her to come see me? I'm sitting here watching TV with my 4 year old while mom is at work. Sorry your biological father was a jerk, but I'm a very proud and devoted father.
/r/MensRights12/10/13 07:36 PM

The amount going back would get lower and lower, since I made minimum wage for years and was in college for a while. There isn't much for her to go after.
/r/MensRights12/10/13 07:32 PM
1

I didn't say I didn't want a child. I said that I didn't know that I did. If I had known then the situation would be very different. I was saying that fathers who refuse to be a part of their child's life, when they know it's their child, should be forced to pay.
/r/MensRights12/10/13 07:30 PM

If I have a 15 year old daughter who I've never met? Hell Yeah I give many many shits about this.
/r/MensRights12/10/13 07:17 PM

I'm getting a test. I have more proof that she's telling the truth than she is lying. Basically none.
/r/MensRights12/10/13 07:17 PM

I offered her to be on one of those mid-day shows so we could resolve the situation. lol
/r/MensRights12/10/13 07:16 PM

Or we could both do our own testing.
/r/MensRights12/10/13 07:14 PM

She said she'd pay for the DNA test, but I'm very hesitant about that. I'm just gonna wait for her to contact me.
/r/MensRights12/10/13 07:13 PM

If the girl is asking question now I'm sure she would be able to find me within the year. I don't think waiting is the right thing to do.
/r/MensRights12/10/13 07:12 PM

I'd love to get a 3rd parties opinion on her, but how? An investigator? I have $16 bucks to last till next Thursday, and haven't even paid my bills.
/r/MensRights12/10/13 07:09 PM
1

Dads who refuse to actively play a role in their child's life should be made to pay. She never contacted me because she was afraid I'd take the child to America and she would have been found unfit to raise the child.
/r/MensRights12/10/13 07:07 PM

Thanks.
/r/MensRights12/10/13 07:04 PM

There is a look back period that could be as long as three years. This is the response from a CT lawyer on that site. Does that mean it would only go back 3 years?
/r/MensRights12/10/13 06:45 PM
1

Only problem is that lawyers cost time and money, both are luxuries that I do not have.
/r/MensRights12/10/13 06:24 PM
1

I don't doubt that. My 7 year old is turning 17 so I already have that headache. I'm sure all my family would be very supportive, except for my GF (domestic partner). I'm mostly worried about her response, especially since she wants another kid, and I don't. A 15 year old daughter would fit perfectly into my ideal plan. But I know for sure it wouldn't be easy.
/r/MensRights12/10/13 06:15 PM

What if there is no court system involved?

Under what circumstances would Canada actively try to get money from me compared to what circumstances would they just leave me alone.
/r/MensRights12/10/13 05:42 PM
1

Why?
/r/MensRights12/10/13 05:40 PM
1

I doubt she saved anything of mine with my DNA for 15 years, I guess a DNA test is reliable then?
/r/MensRights12/10/13 05:40 PM
1

When she called there was no mention of anything other than her daughter has been asking questions. I see no potential for fighting, I asked her for a DNA test and am awaiting her response. There is no way I'd be forced to pay anything without solid proof.
/r/MensRights12/10/13 05:36 PM
1

Good point, I hadn't thought of that yet.
/r/MensRights12/10/13 05:32 PM
1

I think this might be the case. She's 15, starting to rebel, and now the mom contacts me to get her out of her hair. This could possibly be the best case scenario.
/r/MensRights12/10/13 05:31 PM
1

I do think that happens because they either don't want responsibility or just are too afraid to speak up. During my divorce the ex wanted everything, I logically explained to my lawyer (and hers) what would be fairest to each party with the children's best interest in mind, I think I came out of that fairly well.
/r/MensRights12/10/13 05:29 PM
1

This is what I'm trying to figure out, why wait until it is most difficult to collect support instead of doing it when it's easier. So far no mention of support, money, or anything like that. On the phone conversation with the mom she asked how I was doing, no mention of how much I make or anything like that.
/r/MensRights12/10/13 05:26 PM
1

At the time of the obligation? When would that be?
/r/MensRights12/10/13 05:22 PM
1

Yeah I know. Thanks
/r/MensRights12/10/13 05:18 PM
2

I'm gonna find out from a lawyer what to do. As far as I see it child support is for the child, and being the potential father I would have an interest in that child's life, isn't that paying for something or a service that you never actually received? The only way I'd pay anything would be future support with the stipulation that I got to be involved in her life. Paying back support for someone who never used the state system sounds unethical.
/r/MensRights12/10/13 05:16 PM
1

When I left Canada it was not on good terms, I'm sure the mother thought I'd deny it and refuse to be part of anything. There was no reason for her to contact me (besides to tell me the truth) because if she did her life would have been way more difficult, instead she stayed with her parents and then met her current husband. I see no red flags about continous drug use anything bad. I'm not even mad.
/r/MensRights12/10/13 05:09 PM
1

Yup, my thoughts exactly. It might take some time for her to understand, but she deserves to know the truth.
/r/MensRights12/10/13 05:04 PM
1

Exactly why I'm gonna have a DNA test, the girl deserves to know her real dad. It doesn't matter if she's 1 or 100, if I'm her dad then she deserves to know who I am.
/r/MensRights12/10/13 05:03 PM
1

I'll contact a lawyer on Monday (no Tuesday)
/r/MensRights12/10/13 05:00 PM
2

There were a bunch of people she hung out with who didn't care for me, I was some strange American coming to their country. I have no proof about who the guy was, she just said he was a "friend" (dealer or sexual, who knows) . If he was the dad then why contact me now, I'm sure they would've resolved the situation years ago.
/r/MensRights12/10/13 04:59 PM
1

Another big question, what role have her parents played in this. I don't know if she even told her parents I could potentially be the Dad. I'm thinking if they were not supportive then she would have been collecting state money and I would have been contacted sooner. Then again her parents could have used the situation to help her get clean and simply raised the daughter together.
/r/MensRights12/10/13 04:55 PM
1

Yeah Nova Scotia.
/r/MensRights12/10/13 04:51 PM
1

That's what I'd like to believe, I have absolutely no proof one way or the other.
/r/MensRights12/10/13 04:50 PM
1

I'm gonna get a DNA test done, how could I not.
/r/MensRights12/10/13 04:49 PM
1

Exactly, if this was about money wouldn't it be easier for her to go through the courts? She wasn't even sure how to go about proving paternity, if she did want money wouldn't she be ready to prove I was the dad, instead of just calling to warn me that I might be contacted by her daughter soon who has been asking questions.
/r/MensRights12/10/13 04:48 PM
2

It's very easy to find me online, I've been living in the same town.
/r/MensRights12/10/13 04:42 PM
1

Source? That is my question, why would I have to pay back support, especially if I legitimately had no idea. She could have contacted me sooner, and if she was on state assistance wouldn't they have tried to find me?
/r/MensRights12/10/13 04:40 PM
1

Good point.
/r/MensRights12/10/13 04:34 PM

The mom got fat as hell, I don't even recognize her in her FB posts, I doubt she's doing any drugs now. Although I'm proceeding with Caution.
/r/MensRights12/10/13 04:32 PM

By who? I've seen a few she only wants money posts but for the most part it's been good comments.
/r/MensRights12/10/13 01:10 PM

Not yet, but we will. I'll follow up once I know for sure, but sorry no pics, she does take after me with her looks.
/r/MensRights12/10/13 01:09 PM

If she never had anything to do with State assistance then why now?
/r/MensRights12/10/13 01:08 PM

Yeah I know it. We shouldn't be bashing any women in this sub, only bringing to light men's issues and how to resolve them.
/r/MensRights12/10/13 01:06 PM
1

I have no hard feelings towards the mother, I'm a bit mad it took her 15 years but I understand why. I have no problem contacting the girl directly but want to have a DNA test first to be sure. The only problem is would that open the door to the mother collecting money.
/r/MensRights12/10/13 01:05 PM

Sources?
/r/MensRights12/10/13 01:02 PM

I'm no dummy, I know the risks. I've been lucky as I pay my ex wife 50 bucks a week for 2 kids. I just wanted input as to what my options are, thanks for responding but I don't know for sure if she wants money. The only way to find out is to proceed.
/r/MensRights12/10/13 01:00 PM

On the phone the mother said she was asking alot of questions about her real dad, and wanted to contact me before she did.
/r/MensRights12/10/13 12:53 PM

Odd from the point of the mother trying to collect, perfectly normal from the point of her wanting to know who her dad is.

Yup, it sure does.
/r/MensRights12/10/13 12:51 PM

No money has been mentioned and I'm already looking into DNA tests and lawyering up.
/r/MensRights12/10/13 12:50 PM

I'm sure she could've used money while she was younger, why wait till now, the amount will be drastically lower. I have 3 kids, she just got married. And I doubt the court would look favorably on her for waiting so long.

I'm not sure if I could do that, wait till she's over 18. She was asking about me and her mom said she been talking about her dad in America for the past few months. There is the risk of paying alot in support but it's a risk I have to take. If I wait she may not want anything to do with me. She is doing very good, I've seen some pictures and she is very beautiful, her mom said she is getting into modeling, I'm not concerned with her life or well being. Thanks for the links, I looked at the Canadian laws before posting this, and that made me want to learn as much as possible first.

I'm thinking of simply ordering the test, or contacting a company who does the testing, and then telling the mom and her what to do. I was very careful with what I said to her on the phone today. I do have some questions, like about her health, behavior, blood type, and other questions which could potentially assist with paternity questions.

In 1997 I went to Canada to see this girl, I took a bus up there from Connecticut, went through Maine, over to Canada, and then to Nova Scotia. We had met a few years earlier when her mom was working in CT as a hospice nurse. I thought it would be great to go up to Canada and she thought I was going to rescue her from a boring life. /r/MensRights12/10/13 02:35 AM
1

It sounds like the mom has been avoiding the issue for the past 15 years. The only way the girl knows her step-father is not her real father is that she was 4 when they met. If they met when she was younger then this might have never been a question, as the mother would have simply left me out of the equation altogether.
/r/MensRights12/10/13 02:22 AM
2

So she probably thought I left her. I think this is going to be the biggest issue, it'll totally depend on what Mom told her about me. (and about her own life before she got pregnant)
/r/MensRights12/10/13 02:07 AM
4

The mom told me her daughter is starting to ask questions. Of course I'm not totally believing her at this time, but so far it's all I have to go on. Edit: I also wanted to add that she just got married. Wouldn't the amount of child support decrease dramatically then? She raised her alone for 5 years before she met her husband, and then got married last year. Thanks for making me think about this more, and in more than one way.
/r/MensRights12/10/13 02:02 AM
22

That's pretty much where I stand now. You're right, she might just be curious as to who I am, but it might end there. The thing is if she really does want to know me then I'm here for her.
/r/MensRights12/10/13 02:00 AM
1

I don't think they ever had state help, the mom works in a hospital, the grandmother is a nurse I believe, the grandfather worked up in Newfoundland, the brother was a lumberjack in the Northeast territories, I'm not sure about her sister. I'm not sure about Canada but in America this isn't the type of family who is on state assistance. If she mine I plan on doing whatever I can for her.
/r/MensRights12/10/13 01:38 AM
2

Straight and to the point, good advice. When I left the mom was doing bad, I told her parents about it and then left, I'm sure she was pissed for a while. When I talked to her today she said once she found out she was pregnant she turned her life around, why would she not if she just found out she was pregnant. I saw pics of my potential daughter on FB and she looks healthy, I've seen crack babies, I have friends who are, and she doesn't look like it. Of course I'm still skeptical though.
/r/MensRights12/10/13 01:32 AM
2

Thanks man. One question is where do you think she would like to live and what do you think her view on Americans is?
/r/MensRights12/10/13 01:27 AM
2

Then I'm entitled to every decision about her life, and that hasn't been happening. If this is true I'm gonna see about her moving to America with me. Apparently she has been asking about me. Its strange because the mom could have contacted me earlier, why wait till now?
/r/MensRights12/10/13 01:24 AM
7

Yeah I know. Considering she hasn't contacted me till now, and she is only contacting me now because her daughter is asking about me. If this is true then I'm hoping she is not after money, of course I am being very careful about it.
/r/MensRights12/10/13 12:22 AM
3

I don't have enough money now to go up there, although I would love to. I was wondering which country would be better to do the test in from a male point of view. Also, she works in a hospital so I'm afraid of her having home court advantage.
/r/MensRights12/10/13 12:16 AM
8

That is exactly my thought, of course I'm not gonna contact the girl till I find out the truth. But if it is true I plan on giving her the option to come to America.
/r/MensRights12/10/13 12:12 AM
3

I thought about that, but its been 15 years already, that wouldn't be fair to her.
/r/MensRights12/10/13 12:10 AM
7

That's good advice to have it all sent to me and then send her the test, thanks alot.
/r/MensRights12/10/13 12:08 AM
3

Fuck her. I would have taken out my phone and called 9-11 right then and there. Told the police she was harassing you and that you thought she was trying to kidnap your kids, add in that you wanted to be sure she did not try to do it again.

Delete Facebook. Hit the gym. Lawyer up. It happened to me too when I got divorced, I called the cops and they arrested both of us. It is very stupid but it's for the judge to decide who said what, not the cops.

Women are NOT equal to men. That is the bottom line. Quit this damn "equal rights" BS and KNOW YOUR ROLE!!! Men are here to protect the women so that they may reproduce. Until EVERYTHING is equal men are superior. When men have a 50-50 say in what happens to an unborn baby then the sexes will be equal. Until that time they are not.

oh no!!! I'm all for equal rights but is men do not get these equal rights then men and women are not equal. Sorry to say. In one of my Political Science courses in college me and this other guy totally bashed all the women in class. We had just learned about "invested interest" and what that means politically. It was really fun. Needless to say the women didn't quite enjoy it, they had no argument, not even the professor.

My point is that until either men can have babies or can be part of the abortion decision, the sexes are unequal.

Good points. Sounds like you just wanted to vent. So, let me tell you something that bothers me. Why are women allowed to have an abortion if the man doesn't want it? The man has an "invested interest" in the women because his baby is in there. Right? So, the man has to do what he can to protect the baby. Right? So, the man is superior to the women because he is protecting his interest.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
