You implied that I was out of line in indicating that “men” had a powerful editorial role in the narrative of Western culture. I have known plenty of misogynistic men in my life to know that there is considerable hatred of women as well. I am not trying to diminish the issues of our society and/or the burdens suffered by groups and individuals. I agree that the norms are largely the issue. And I also think that people that live a life according to those norms may also be supporting and fostering those norms, rather that attempting to liberate themselves from them. No one should fix themselves for someone else. We should fix ourselves for ourselves, for our communities, for the world.
