Piglet and rabbit always struck me as male, but just prissy males. Mainly because their voices were male and their character design fairly traditionally male. I just considered them to be relatively feminine males.

I suppose I'd rather be doownvoted for having a terrible, unjust opinion rather than having a sassy attitude. And really, "Quitchabitchin" is more likely something I'd say than any of the men I know. ANYway, sorry. I just get irritated that MensRights claims to be so much BETTER than the feminist movement when they practice the same tactics and hold the same prejudices and biases that they claim feminists use to manipulate the world. It's not the number of downvotes, it's my indignance at self-r…

Hardly a news flash, as you said sir. My problem is that MensRights tends to disparage women as a whole regardless of the circumstances. I absolutely agree that the real issue is unjust legal action. Might there be more specific, less gender-centric reasoning for this ruling?

I think there have been other threads on Reddit about this very topic. Anybody know if that's so, and how to find them?

No real woman is going to deride a lonely man for being duped by a dishonest woman, and vice versa. Where "all the good men" have gone is the same as where "all the good women" have gone; wherever it is that "a sense of personal responsibility" goes to die. Edit: Whoops! I forgot egalitarianism isn't welcome in MensRights. I suppose that's why I was downvoted. Silly me!

Wasn't it MensRights that had a number of threads dedicated to men finding buy-a-brides from overseas because American women are so fucking terrible? ............?

Bustinjieber, fucking THANK YOU. I have tried to say this very thing a million times over, and am consistently and soundly downvoted. Again, THANK YOU. Edit: Again, downvoted. MensRights is not a friendly place.

Agreed. You risk pissing her off and not taking your cause seriously by trying to embarrass her in front of others or purposely do some stupid cold-shoulder dance. She'll just be annoyed with you, and see no reason to take your opinion seriously on the matter. She may even resent your position if you behave that way. If she's so bright, just explain to her that it's actually pretty serious, and give a few reasons why. Be concise and not overly-dramatic; younger siblings seem to have short attent…

Understood, but if we're talking about, say, injustice in the courts, how does one say "no" to something court ordered or "no" to jail time?

I've seen many arguments that women are running, with a disproportionate amount of influence, a society of misandry and that men are battered, abused and neglected. If this is the case, and if the influence of radical feminists throws a net as wide as some men claim, what do you propose that men ought to do to promote equal rights? How is ignoring this powerful female sociopolitical entity going to help anything?

It is an interesting problem, and I agree that most of the motivation behind it is cultural influence (I'm American). From what I've read of men on Reddit who have had adult circumcision done, they did it for hygiene reasons, but I will not claim to know for sure. I don't think it has much to do with function at all; from what I gather, there are many, many sexually fulfilled circumcised and uncircumcised men. I'm sure there are circumcised women who find no fault in it, but I think it depends o…

Attention? No. Pissing the fuck out of you? Bingo. Look, you fail to realize I'm a reasonable person. You annoyed the shit out of me, so you got this reaction. And where you might have made an ally of your cause with reasonable discussion, you've made an enemy. I take MensRights LESS seriously because of people like you. Oops, I'm back! But only to piss you off. It seems like a fun thing to do. :) How can one misinterpret what it is to have one's clitoris sliced off? Seems pretty straightforward. What the fuck does a man's ability to impregnate have to do with this argument? The general argument has been about whether we have the right to deny individuals the sensation provided by the traditionally removed bits of skin. There are plenty of men who CHOOSE to hamper their own ability to have babies, but they don't…

I would be inclined to agree, yes. But my doubt lies with the men who DON'T consider it to be an evil, and especially with men who have CHOSEN to be circumcised as adults and find no fault in it. Why does this happen?

Yeah, apparently a dissenting view, even if it's totally appropriate and relevant, is downvoted into oblivion. So much for freedom of speech, eh?
/r/MensRights01/10/10 09:28 AM

Yeah, you're the kind of guy who makes it hard to take MensRights seriously. The equivalent of female circumcision (ie., the removal of the clitoris) for a man would be if someone cut off his entire shaft. This is not the case. You appear to be far more sexist than I, so if you're a representative of this subreddit, I believe I WILL remove myself. I suppose someone who considers BOTH sides of the story doesn't belong here.

YOUR slant on this issue is plain, friend, and unfortunately, I'll probably be downvoted for honesty. Removal of the clitoris is the removal of a FAR more vital component of sexual stimulation, regardless of the age at which it is done, for a woman than a foreskin is for a man, given that there are no complications with either medical procedure, such as the conditions listed elsewhere in this thread. Note that I did NOT give my opinion on whether I believe circumcision to be right or wrong. But …

I'm not defending what happened. I don't think it's an effective way to deal with the actual issue of violence against women (or anyone, really) on college campuses. I'm just saying I don't think they're on a man-hunt for a guy with that description, and looking to lock up any guy who fits. I think they were just sort of lazily covering their asses.

It wasn't exactly helpful and constructive. It was an observation, but not one that really meant much. "History" becomes important just because it can help determine whether someone is worth your time. If they're obviously someone who just starts flame wars everywhere he/she goes (someone who starts off innocently enough to get people talking to him/her), they're not worth the effort and are not really a helpful contribution to the community. I have a feeling this was written up just to appease someone. It doesn't really implicate or incriminate anyone, realistically. I feel like they just wrote up the non-"incident" so that they couldn't be held responsible if something DID end up happening to some girl on campus.

OK, this is unrelated to this post, but I'd just like to warn any Redditor here: Liverotto, who has commented on this thread, is, at best, a raging troll, and at worst a sociopath. What kind of relationship does he have with the daughter? Has he actually known her and considered her his daughter all this time? If so, chances are he wouldn't withhold financial support from the daughter after this point. I would think HE'D just like to have his legal CHOICe of spending it on her rather than the mother STEALING it from him by tricking the law into telling him he must. If I was being hounded by two men at airport security in the way that those women were hounding that man, you can be damn sure I'd be WAY more concerned about my friggin' chocolate. That is MAH CHOCOLATE. And, let's be honest, the idea of a bag full of lindt chocolates makes me sooooooooo happy inside.

I think the point was that they were joking. Notice that the strip search didn't happen, nor did anyone even think it would actually happen over the course of the commercial due to the tone of the dialogue. I'd be more pissed off about my chocolate FOR SURE. :) But wayyy worse has been stolen at airport security. Not GOOD, but just reality.

A.) I did not say "all." I said "a number." Meaning that your gender has not really reached a consensus as to how you feel about such jokes, but you seem to be convinced that all men need standing up for in this situation. I think some would tell you to back off. B.) No, it was not a PC way of saying "not a masculinist." I was referring specifically to the men who post on and frequent MensRights on Reddit. See, I totally agree that there are plenty of men who would be pissed off at the inconvenience. Offended? Not so much. Honestly, I think it would be INCREDIBLY interesting to run a social experiment at an airport to see what the reaction would truly be. If a man's wife is jealous, that's her own problem. If a girl hit on my boyfriend, and he negotiated it gracefully (basically, not grabbing her ass or something to that effect, being tactful), I wouldn't care in the least. I'd only be offended if…

I didn't say it was amusing or not amusing in my original post. I simply asked if you would truly, TRULY be offended if the scenario happened to you. Frankly, to me, the commercial is funny regardless of the gender of the security guards. The humor doesn't lesson with the switching of social roles. There are plenty of male TV characters who harass women, and it's funny. Shit, did you ever watch Johnny Bravo as a kid? That was the WHOLE SHOW. Do you know anyone in our generation who grew up to be…

Obviously? I'm willing to bet if you asked male friends who aren't self-defined "MensRights"ers, they wouldn't really mind either way as long as their trip wasn't inconvenienced. I'm sure a number of non-MR guys would be annoyed too. Either way, I don't think they'd be thinking "That was sexual harassment." Let's also keep in mind that these two women do not behave like ACTUAL airport security guards. They act very clearly like a couple of immature girls, and therein lies the humor. They do not …

Ok, I've read this more than once, and perhaps I'm drunk, but I can't make any sense out of it. Could you possibly rewrite and/or rephrase? My guess would be that if those are the prevailing gender themes in TV shows right now, it's because they sell. And I think I'm correctly assuming that a huge demographic for the Simpsons is males 18-35 who watch the show religiously. Same for Family Guy, etc.. Really, if you don't buy it, they won't sell it. It's considered by MensRights to be the "No True Scotsman" approach, which is defined as a logical fallacy.

Did I say that? I don't remember typing it. You simply asked me what I'd have if I removed Patriarchy Theory from Feminism, and I provided an answer that implied that there's more to Feminism than Patriarchy Theory. You can stop being incredulous now.

I've found the majority of MRA on Reddit to be bitter, woman-hating, self-pitying fellows. Should I then suggest that all MRA are the same? I feel that I would be flamed to hell for suggesting such a thing.

Remove patriarchy theory from feminism, and you get egalitarianism represented by a special interest group that specifically focuses on advocating the rights of women, not suppressing the rights of men. I was under NO impression that all men live like rich fat cats and all women are battered housewives. I don't know anyone who accepts that theory, if you could even call it a theory.
/r/MensRights15/08/10 03:40 AM

If you've looked around MensRights long, you'll find that they consider the definition of feminism to be misandry, and that it's OUR logical fallacy when we say that misandry is not true feminism. I'll probably be downvoted into oblivion, but that has been my overwhelming experience.

Seriously? There are four articles a day on Reddit about women molesting schoolboys. I see a steady stream of female teachers being taken to court for inappropriate relationships with students. I'd believe it isn't as openly condemned as male paedophilia, but it's certainly not being hidden from the public and stricken from the record.

"Contessa" comes from the fact that I'm a classical singer, and my first operatic role sung in Italy was one of the many Contessas in the literature. Not some inflation of my opinion of myself. Just FYI. I understood that your opinions came from a purely biological standpoint. But the fact remains that if an adult human is incapable of, or past the point of reproduction, there is no purely biological use for them. They have passed on their DNA, and are thus useless. That includes the sterile, th…

Regardless of the truth or inaccuracy of this article, it's written in such a nasty, condescending tone I can hardly take it seriously. So I guess men who're shooting blanks are irrelevant too? Sterile testicular cancer survivors? The elderly? I mean, if a person's worth is derived from his/her sexual potency, there are plenty of men who don't make the cut. And if you're about to suggest that men AREN 'T wrapped up in their penises (or are less wrapped up in them than women are with their ovarie…

I suppose I wasn't specific enough. The title that the OP gave his post was the provocative one, not the title of the article itself. The reason the OP worded his title in the way that he did was to be provocative and, frankly, immature. My critique IS on the basis of a metalinguistic observation, but I would argue that it was not insignificant. It's symptomatic of a poisonous attitude here in MensRights, and I think it's a shame. Moving on, I have absolutely nothing against scientific progress,…

I said CONNOTATIVELY. People apply their own values to certain terms, and use them as such. "Less evolved" has a NEGATIVE connotation in terms of the layman's usage, and this was likely for whom the article was written. Really, being MORE or LESS evolved has no inherent value; it simply IS. We, as a society, place positive or negative values on these terms, and the title of the article was worded in such a way as to fully exploit this. Are you also suggesting that "primitive, reptile behavior," …

I consider myself a feminist, and I wouldn't take this bit of information (that XY is a broken XX) seriously without scientific backing any more than I would take ANY claim seriously without any scientific backing. /r/MensRights07/08/10 07:21 AM

By wording the title in the way that they did rather than saying EXACTLY what you just said. It was worded in what appeared to be a blatantly provocative way meant to imply that women do not have all of the characteristics that we connotatively apply to the term "evolved," or "evolution," to the degree that men have them. I could continue, but I think we know what I mean. If not, let me know.

Please elaborate on how delaying a sentence 6 months to a year denies justice, as long as the sentence is actually carried out, because as it stands, your opinion sounds more emotional than logical to me. As for the baby being taken care of in jail, for how long? Until the mother gets out? And if it's given up to foster care, what about breastfeeding, which boosts the infant's immunity? I think there needs to be a less black and white way of dealing with cases like these to respect the innocence…

It behooves us as a society to do what's best for infants, considering how much cognitive development happens in those first few months to one year, and it would be to our detriment as a society if we deliberately denied an infant the best conditions available to them for said development. Sentences are often postponed for several reasons; I don't see why doing so would lessen the impact of the punishment. It seems to me that it gives us the best of both worlds; the child is taken care of, and t…

I'm not suggesting that there's anything to like about child support, alimony OR the pain of giving birth. By the way, I do NOT equate alimony and child support; they're very different things. I'm glad for your family's women. But my family's narrow-hipped women has always had a fucking horrible time of it. If you'd like to talk to my mom, she JUST regaled me the other day. Heard things she'd never told me before. No. Thanks.
/r/MensRights02/08/10 06:39 AM

Why do men think they know how painful childbirth is?! You have no idea. And, just so you know, the effects of pregnancy, physically and mentally, persist AFTER the birth, even if you abandon the baby. It's not a few hours of pain. It's "a few hours of pain that is the beginning of a body you don't recognize and that doesn't function like it used to, and hormones that turn you into someone else for a while." Fuckin' try it.
/r/MensRights02/08/10 06:35 AM

Oh please, yourself. Go talk to your mom. Ask her what having you was like. THEN ask her if she thinks your dad should've been able to take off on her for no reason and relinquish responsibility for you altogether. It's hardly the same as any middle-eastern conflict. Pregnancy is not only a shockingly painful experience, but it changes your mind and body in ways that do not go away, if they ever go away at all. Your hormones go insane (which is more important than you appear to give it credit for. It changes your body AND your mind in a way you have to learn how to handle on the fly. I understand where you're coming from firsthand, but it's beside the point. Regardless of WHY the child is there, it's still there, and guilty of nothing. The father may feel victimized, but is still more guilty of causing the situation than the child could ever be. Pardon, but I don't see how asking a woman to end a potential life and put herself physically at risk is the same as asking a man to help pay for the child once it's there, as long as there was no malicious intent from the mother to begin with. Besides, with everyone giving up responsibility for these unwanted children, what happens to THEM? Who picks up the slack? Hey, I'm experiencing some injustice in the legal system firsthand, ok? I'm aware that there is a court bias when it comes to divorce. Fictitious wage gap?? Well, frankly, Id say the problem there lies with education more than A SIGNIFICANT wage gap, but that is it's own brand of sexism. How does an act protecting women from violence hurt men? I don't see why it's wrong to have specialized laws when it was acceptable for a man to strike a woman two generations ago.

I would consider true Feminism to be a special interest group with an underlying philosophy of egalitarianism. You don't see people who donate to save the polar bears being accused of doing so because they believe polar bears are inherently better than, say, baby seals, and that we should hate baby seals. People just pick a cause they're most invested in or that hits closest to home.

/r/MensRights23/07/10 08:50 PM

Yes, they do. My SO's children have begun to catch their mother lying about their father, and it's quickly chipping away at their trust for her. And a kid can absolutely hate his/her mother. The older of my SO's kids would move in with his father TODAY if he could, but he's too young yet, at 10 years old, to choose for himself. But kids can tell, after a certain age, when they're being manipulated by one parent if they have another healthy, stable, loving parent to negate the manipulation.
