2nd this motion. How to combine HIIT with social interaction? Mountain biking. Especially single track. Get some buddies, get some bikes and go slam the tracks for an afternoon. Most single tracks are both up and downhill and have areas of high intensity followed by a less strenuous bit. It's full blast, coast, climb, repeat. And it's way fun!
