Many men just don't take this into account when it comes to a woman being desirable to them for a long term relationship. It would be like if my surgeon also was an elite chess player. That is cool but doesn't have anything to do with whether or not I am going to be in good hands while being operated on. I dated women who did not have college degrees that were incredibly intelligent and well read. Having advanced degrees doesn't necessarily make you interesting.

Because guys in the dating market dont compromise, so women shouldn't either. Almost everybody compromises on something with their partner. They also often find that the "compromises" they make don't matter at all once they meet the right person.

If a 49 year old man wanted to date a 19 year old than yeah I would agree that he was not looking for an intelligent and mature partner. He only cared about looks. If a 49 year old man wanted to date a 35 year old woman I would not agree with you. Because there are a lot of whip smart people in their 30s who are very interesting.

Married. Male. Straight. Posters make broad overreaching claims that they think are universal answers. There are general trends but also each individual situation they are arguing has nuance to it. Dating/attraction/life exists in a vast grey area and people seem to want to make statements that make it seem black and white. The flip side to part 1 is that there are also posters on this sub who refuse to admit that certain things really do matter in dating/relationships. They are not the only thi…

Not from what I have observed. The type of men who think of themselves in the "friendzone" are the type of guys who pine for a relationship with women and put them on a pedestal. They are not out for just sex. Yes they want sex but they also want a relationship. By no means am I defending these guys I just don't think they are looking for just sex. The guys who are out for just sex are going to more often than not shoot their shot really quickly. They don't fixate on any one woman. They don't th…

Women are not shamed for dating older men. It is either framed as the woman exercising her autonomy or that the older guy is being predatory. No matter the age, intelligence, and success of a woman, if the man is older than I assure you someone who is not in the relationship is whining about power dynamics.

You are blaming all men for the words of less than 1% of the population who are either keyboard jockeys or trolls. I have never said anything like that. Nor have any men I know who are married or in a relationship. Men who date younger don't talk about dating younger. They just live their lives and occasionally have to defend themselves when they are criticized for it.

Men will also use younger women/girls as a tool to make older women jealous and try to make older compete for their attention when in reality competing for a man's attention is not worth it. You made a bunch of broad generalizations in your post that I don't agree with but this one is just completely false. Men do not pursue younger women to make women their own age jealous. This statement pretty much contradicts everything else that you have said in your post. Also, if you are an attractive per…

I think a 40 year old guy dating a 19 year old is off to most people. However, there are a lot of women who think men that are 40-45 that prefer women in their late 20s/early 30s are creeps as well. Often when a male celeb marries a woman who is younger than he is whether it be Chris Evans or Jon Hamm you see people start to clutch their pearls about age gaps in relationships.

Almost all of the time it is because they find the younger women incredibly attractive. There are a lot of men out there who have blown up their lives for attractive younger women.

There are 38 year old divorced women who consistently date or chase after emotionally unavailable men who will never commit. There are more people who continue to make the same mistakes when choosing partners than those who find a way to course correct. Figuring out that you are the problem in who you select and being willing to work through your own issues to make the change is hard work that most people won't undertake. There are also 22 year olds who will never take shit from or let a guy lea…

So much of the age gap has to do with the fact that such a high % of people meet their partners in college or in early 20s. In general these people have no chance for there to be an age gap between them. What is interesting when it comes to age gaps is that when you look at the stats on 2nd marriages men marry someone 10+ years younger about 20% of the time and 6-9 years another 18% of the time. First marriages it is just 5% of marriages that have a 10+ year age gap. But that number would really…

The kind of guy who has a lot of options with women his own age also has options (although not as many) with women who are younger than he is. At this point for them it becomes preference. In my experience it starts to really diverge after 35 for men where they are very set on dating younger. Most guys who are 30+ or 35+ are not focusing on early 20s. It is a lot more common to see a guy (who has options) who is late 30s looking for lates 20s/early 30s.

You see it all the time in major metropolitan areas like NYC, Chicago, Dallas, etc. It isn't sugar dating either. It is more often than not professional women dating professional men. Go to a major city. Set up a Bumble account and give your age as 40. You will see an endless number of women in their late 20s or younger who have opted in to dating men in that age range.

Yes. A lot do. But same thing. These women would drink and have fun but not hook up. Also, there are a lot of people who have FWB, short term relationships, vacation flings, etc. With or without alcohol it doesn't really change the fact. By the way I am not someone that believes women should not hookup or behave how they want to. I did and enjoyed my life before meeting my partner. But because I did I am not worried about whether I am marriage material or hook up material.

Men are painted as evil if they date younger. Men are criticized for dating younger. Women are criticized for dating wealthier. Both are insane criticisms as long as both are treating their partners well.

I think most people are just happy when their life situation improves. Especially if other people either are happy for them or at the very least not critical/jealous. The 39 year old guy who is dating a cute 27 year old is damn happy. If he starts to hear criticism from people about the age gap he may get defensive and lash out. But in general people keep it moving when they are successful and don't need to flaunt it in other peoples faces.

The great thing about being incredibly deisrable is that it gives you a lot of options. I don't think anyone is or should be looking for someone who has to be at their level. There are super cute women with great personalities that may click with a guy who has endless options more than the IG model who he has nothing in common with. The goal is happiness with your partner not getting the most desirable (on paper) person that you can. Just like the goal should be to make as much money to live the…

Definitely after a certain age and place in life. If you are talking about a guy teens and/or early 20s they may not want or be able to be in a relationship. Also, a guy going through a grueling point of their career when they have incredible hours and stress. But I would say the majority of adult men (27 and older) would choose an amazing partner over single life.

Differing perspectives is true. It has to do with value. Usually women with the most value (from the dating market not as a human being) are able to secure commitment pretty easily. These women could obviously hookup any time they wish but they also have guys actively pursuing them for relationships. Whereas the men with the most value (from the dating market not as a human being) are able to consistently secure hookups & sex without putting in much effort or without commitment. These same guys …

There are a lot of women in my life I've met who only dated guys and never participated in hookups or Short term relationships. Not Trad Cons in fact they were very strong willed and successful. They wanted the dinner and decency from the beginning. I respected them because they weren't going to change things up when they had their fun. Their values were their values and they lived by them. There are different level of attractions that people have. There are guys who are so attractive/charming that they are able to have a lot of sex without commitment. These guys are hookup material and also most often are also marriage material if they have other desirable qualities. I had a buddy in college who could not hook up or date to save his life. Women always told him he was going to make a great husband one day. That is not a compliment that they meant it to be. It meant that they really were not attracted to him during their days they were trying to have fun and be wild. Two of the relationships I had that lasted a longer while and the women reached out for years afterwards were with women that I slept with within a few days of meeting. No dates and no real effort…

It is always a case by case situation. Situation 1 is a guy who dangles money in front of a woman who cannot make rent and exchanges for sexual favors. Obvious that he is exploiting her. Situation 2 young woman is leading an older man on and milking him for as much money as possible. This isn't a transaction with a price this is someone whose entire goal is to take as much money as possible. She is exploiting him. Also, think about an OF model who charges $15 a month. That seems a fair price to …

There is nuance to everything which I think gets lost when people discuss gender dynamics. A 32 year old woman who married the 45 year old law firm partner can say her partner's success makes her see stars. Let's do it this way instead. A 32 year old lawyer is in a relationship with a 50 year old law partner who has status more than wealth. What you see again and again is a guy who is divorced with a couple kids in private high schools, alimony payments, child support, and he was cut in half whe…

Women there own age aren't attracted to them??? Also, a 50 + year old guy who is a CEO of a company/partner at a law firm/Doctor/etc. has authority and power. There is a percentage of women (5%ish) who are generally very attracted to powerful men. They would be more attracted to the guy who runs a company and has people who report to him than the same guy if he was lazy and lived off a trust fund. Very small % but it is still a thing.

My personal experience is late 20s was when women were more open to 10 years or more. Early to mid 20s were often interested in a quick fling but nothing serious. But obviously that is just my experience and observing how friends/colleagues dated. Dating apps also make it much easier for people to explore relationships outside their social circle. People can date outside their age bracket, race, etc. with much more ease and less initial judgment with the apps. It will be interesting to see the e…
/r/PurplePillDebate27/07/24 02:15 PM

It very much is not. When I was single on the dating apps I was 43. I was dating late 20s/early 30s. Pretty common. Seeing a 20 year old with a 35 year old guy is much less common.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/07/24 02:00 PM

Lol. Very true. I had a FWB that was going around telling people that she was going through a bad breakup when things came to their inevitable conclusion with us. (I did not want a relationship. She did)
/r/PurplePillDebate27/07/24 01:52 PM

I had a friend who was not incredibly handsome but lived in a great area, had a great job, and had great travel pictures on his profile. He was lining up dates every week and juggling multiple mini relationships. If you are a guy that has some desirable traits dating apps make it much easier than it was to date multiple women and also date much younger if you choose.

Going to disagree with you on your marriage beliefs. Your beliefs probably work for many men but not all. If you wait until you are ready and find the right partner it is one of the best decisions for some people. I was single and dating for a long period of my life. The happiest life I have led was when I met the right person and built a life together. I would say that only 20% of men or so do marriage right. /r/WhereAreAllTheGoodMen08/05/24 01:35 PM

I think as an attractive man you can certainly do something that will give a woman the ick. That is one part of the ick. I had a buddy who did really well with women until they came back to his place and saw all of the Stars Wars memorbilia that he had. Instant ick. The other part is that I think women often subsconsciously will try to find an ick when they are spending time with a guy that has all of the characteristics of what society says is a good partner but doesn't have the characteristics…
/r/PurplePillDebate08/04/24 01:42 PM

I have said this before but the natural evolution of this trend is some men are going to start groups to talk about a womans past. Body count. Have they ever had an OF. Dated a much older guy. Cheated on a partner. It is kind of inevitable and there will be so many false stories in these types of groups. These types of groups where you cannot vet information in an ethical manner and is just based on gossip or trusting someones opinion are bound to have bad outcomes.

Outside of two guys I know every single guy settled down at some point. Some well into their 40s. Most every guy reaches a point where he wants a LTR. If you are a well off, intelligent and still handsome guy you will have a lot of options.

They aren't maturing faster in fact I would say they are less mature. They want a relationship because they are needy and they feel like a relationship will make them happy. Wanting a relationship doesn't make you mature. Being able to be in a healthy relationship does.

Men in their 20s who don't have a lot of options want relationships. Men in their 20s who have a lot of options either want to be single or are only willing to settle with someone who is a great catch. This is a generalization and doesn't fit for every guy.

A few reasons: The men are probably often highly desirable. Very good looking or very well off or both. The standards for what is a desirable man is high enough that there are relatively few to go around. Couple this that men are less discriminating with who they sleep with and there are going to be guys juggling multiple women. The relationship works for the women because they subconsciously do not want a relationship with a guy who if fully available. I have seen the scenario many times that w…

I'm assuming that you are saying that the women are well aware that men are not in an exclusive relationship with them. Yes. that makes some sense. Also, that they are tired of their friends/family asking them their relationship status with the guy they spend time with so they just say they are in a relationship. You are completely right. If a man isn't introducing you to friends & family while also posting pictures of you on their social media than they do not have the intention to be in a long term relationship. That doesn't need to happen after a few weeks but if you've reached 4-6 months and they haven't introduced you there is a problem. Either they never have had the conversation and the woman is making an assumption. No conversation on exclusivity. The woman has just decided it is a relationship even if the man has said it is casual or FWB. In my case I had a woman talk about a relationship ending when I would not consider going from FWB/casual to a full on committed relationship. If you asked her we had been in a relationship. There are men who are casually dating or FWB with a woman and that woman considers it a relationship. The man does not. When people say women are sharing men it doesn't necessarily mean that men are dating multiple women at once. Women literally just have to give average men a chance and they can get date regardless of their age Add in attractive women and you are right. Attractive/desirabe people will have no issues dating no matter there age. They may not have every option in the world but they will always have many options. The issue for the average woman is that she has a lot more options at 25 than she does at 38 and yet they still are holding out for the super handsome guy who is also a high earner.

People certainly criticize men who leave their families. (Fairly so) However there are also a lot of men who are criticized for dating/marrying younger who have never been married before. Chris Evans has been criticized pretty heavily for marrying a woman in her mid 20s who is a star in her own right. He was never married and did not leave anyone for her. If women's sexual market value is believed to decrease with age, and men's increases, Men's SMV can increase if they do the right things in life but most often it does not. An attractive person is an attractive person regardless of their age. If you stay physically attractive you will always have a wide variety of options. This goes for men and women. If you have options now it is a good bet that you will continue to have options.

I think most men (not all) are not attracted to a LTR with a heavier woman. Not a curvy woman but a heavier woman. Most men prefer fit women with some curves. But there is no line in the sand for what men are or are not attracted to. Some guys love the way models like Ashley Graham or Iskra Lawerence look and others find them to be too big. https://swimsuit.si.com/swimsuit/model/ashley-graham https://www.celebsfirst.com/iskra-lawrence-smiles-enjoys-beach-day-pastel-blue-bikini-beach-miami-florid…

I agree with your statements. The only difference I see is that in OPs original post he was not describing (at least directly involuntarily single men). It sounded from his post he was describing men who were being shamed for not wanting to date and/or having preferences. I just have not experienced a lot of men being treated this way in my time in the dating world. Nor does it sound like you have.

I'd say it is the exact opposite. I know a lot of guys who are single or have been single forever. Nobody makes a big deal of it. These guys date, travel and generally enjoy life. Whereas women past a certain age who are single start to get a lot of sympathy and worry from the women in their social circle. When a man says he wants to be single for life, for whatever reason, the insults are near limitless. Don't say it unless asked. And even at that point just say that you will see in the future …

Plus, men lose their attraction once they feel they have conquered a woman. It's all a slap and a kiss with men Depends on the woman. There are women who men lose all attraction to once they have sex with them. I'll say that for a lot of men they have no clue that they only wanted sex with the woman until they have had sex with her. There are also women who men get crazy about once they had sex with them. They want a relationship with them quickly. Same guy could sleep with two different women a…

There are women who a man looks at as someone who they are willing to sleep with (or FWB) but not ever consider a LTR. There are also women (a much smaller %) who the same man will try to date and get in a LTR with. There are a small % of women who men just line up to try and date. Not lining up to try and just sleep with them. The ones who are manipulative and play games get weak men who they can control. Shitty partners who no one should want for a LTR. People have preferences. It sucks. A five foot tall woman who is attracted to a man but has no idea how tall he and refuses to date a man she initially finds attractive when she finds out he is 5 foot 10 and not six foot is shallow. A woman who was never attracted to a guy because he is not tall enough for her has a brutal preference but it is what it is. It sucks for the guy and he could be missing out. There are guys who constantly date women in similar/same social circles. Some of this definitely has to do with status. There are guys who always in a relationship or juggling multiple FWB's because they either fit a lot of criteria for what someone is looking for in a relationship (handsome, successful, charismatic, etc.) or they are either incredibly physicall desirable or incredibly well off or have some other type of outlier trait that makes them very attractive to the opposite sex. A very small % of 20 year olds have a trust fund. An even smaller % have access to it. To be in the top 1% of the country you need to have a net worth of around $10-11 million dollars. Most people that achieve this do so as they get older and their investments have compounded for years, they have sold a small business, real estate, etc. So their kids are well past the age of 20 when they first get access to real money. I'm observing that men are obsessed with what women think about them, not having sex with a guy is enough to corrode his confidence. Depends on the guy. Most guys I know were always pursuing multiple women. Being rejected by one of them wasn't a big deal to them. Also, once you have had enough partners as a guy you really stop caring that some people are attracted to you and some are not. What you write about is very different than my point. Neither scenario that you described is going to make people feel happy. Men are not going to be happy if they have to work much harder for sex with a girl they are going to have a relationship with than some other guy who just wanted sex. Women are going to hate that they are the type of women who men will sleep with and meet for drinks but will never take for dinner or consider a relationship with. It kind of is part of the same vicious circle.

That is a very specific situation and it sounds like a very weird individual. But that really has nothing to do with shaming men for dating younger women. It has to do with an asshole being an asshole. I have preferences when it comes to dating as well but I don't need to write an essay to make others feel bad. I am asking, why would you look at a man who is dating a single mom and go "oh he is a red flag!" It is a shame tactic to try and control behavior. If you shame men for dating single mom's (most likely coming from the hardcore RP space) or you shame men for dating younger women (feminist space) what you are really trying to do is influence and or control behavior of not just that person but more importantly other men. IT has to be an exaggeration but your overall point is correct. There are guys at every type of gym that absolutely clean up and sleep with many female members. I was a member at a Crossfit for about two years and there were 3 trainers there who were all sleeping with multiple female members a piece. In gyms with a social aspect like a Crossfit or Orange Theory there are always a few guys (mostly the guys who work there) who are cleaning up with the female members.

Either way works and the couple should decide. In the scenario I laid out the couple will both be saving on rent and utilities/expenses. That is a win/win. Like I said earlier having the higher earning member of the couple pay more makes a lot of sense if rent is $5000 (higher) instead of $2800. They should pick up the majority of the difference. Most important is that the lower earning member of the couple should not feel financially stretched by moving into a new place or because they are dati…

Hypothetical: If you are both paying $1500 a month in rent before you move in together and your new place costs $2800 a month than you shuld both pay $1400. And split expenses. If your guy makes significantly more and he wants to move into a new place that is much nicer he should pick up all or the majority of the difference. I was comparing the insecurities that accompany a threesome vs feeling angry/insecure that your partner had a wilder sexual experience before you but wants a more vanilla sex life with you. I don't think anyone should be entitled to recreate anything. But I think many will question why their SO would want to have a wider variety of sexual experiences with someone else. This makes a lot of sense. Nope. This would not and should not fly. If someone is having threesomes w some guy they were having random hookups with than their serious BF should expect the same. If you are willing to be a LTR with someone you want at the very least the same level of sex that previous partners received. (Caveat being the issue you mentioned in part 1) This is really vague. But makes sense and really would not come up in 98+% of situations.

I would say that women have different standards as they reach certain ages. Since you are using 35+ I will go with it. (But it isn't a strict age. Could be early 30s or early 40s.) In generatl they want a more stable relationship and a man that is willing to commit to them in a fully monogamous relationship. I found that incredibly attractive people and incredibly rich people usually have some disconnect from the way the world actually works. The thing with a pre-nup is that it doesn't necessarily mean that one party gets nothing. It means that in the case of a divorce the asset split is pre-negotiated and a group of lawyers shouldn't be able to bill hundreds of hours to get each member of the couple less. (Although people often do hire divorce attorneys out of pure anger.) A good prenup would be seperating assets when the couple gets married and having a fair calculation of how any assets acquired during the marriage will be split. …

They want men to be foot soliders in building a world that doesnt' benefit the vast majority of men. This old quote comes to mind, "Hound follow those who feed them." Large amounts of young men and boys are never going to follow or listen to someone who doesn't either give them a compelling vision for their future or at least give them an honest assessm…

Probably because you feel like she isn't mature enough for you. I was in a situation where a very attractive woman who was 23 or 24 was interested in me. Super book smart but really had been sheltered her whole life. Needed to grow up socially. It just felt off and I was very nice to her but kept my distance. Trust your gut.

Depends on the age and age gap. A 30 year old guy dating a 25 year old is no big deal. A 30 year old guy trying to seriously date an 18 year old is weird to me. A 27 year old dating a 22 year old doesn't move the needle IMO. Once someone hits 27ish I say all bets are off. Don't care if they date a 27 year old or a 60 year old. It just doesnt bother me.

I'd say higher than a 6 howerver I am not going to argue that point. (In general I think % rankings make a lot more sense than numbers.) However he is better looking than at least 90% probably 95% of men. Which really isn't that impressive when it makes you realize that out of ten men there is one better looking and out of 20 men there would be one better looking for him to be in the 95%. Thinking of the men walking around in the world that is not exactly incredibly impressive but he has still e…

App based dating whether it be through dating apps or something like IG has changed what it takes to succeed. Game/personality/etc. mattered more before apps. I do have friends who did much better than men who were better looking and more successful when they met women in person. On the apps he did much worse. Game worked for a short period of time before society caught on to it and just called the people doing it douchebags. Neg's were a big thing before people caught on to them. I'd see guys p…

I think the issue is that we also take what people say as face value. We all have private lives and these private lives are often vastly different than what is portrayed to the public. I've known guys who everyone thinks are the model husband who were carrying on multiple affairs through women they met at conferences. Almost no one is going to admit to living a lifestyle that their peers disagree with.

Women aren’t a monolith. This is the answer and I have used the same word to describe peoples preferences. I found 15-20% of women I met have been open to dating or preferred dating men who are somewhat older. 10-15 years. That is a big enough % of women that if you have your shit together you can date younger even if the vast majority of women prefer to date men their own age. Also you probably have no idea about the whole sex lives of the women you’re thinking of, but that’s just an assumption…

I would think it is incredibly juvenile. The main issue that needs to be dealt with is the fear from the BF that he is going to enter into a one sided relationship again. Where the focus is on his partners needs and not both of their needs. The BF has had a really bad experience and they need to feel secure that this will not take place again.

This is definitely a piece of it. In the past I definitely had women I just hooked up with a few times refer to us having been in a relationship. Average age gap is 3 years. True that is the average but you still have 10-20% of women who are dating 5-10 years older. It would especially make sense if mid to late 20s women are dating slightly older and those guys were in their early 30s. That is when a lot of men I know started seriously looking for a relationship.

There is a consensus in the RP community that men age like fine wine and are more desirable in their 40s and beyond - particularly to women in their 20s. IF you are a guy in his 40s who has kept in shape, aged well, and has a good deal of disposable income you will have more options on average than you did in your 20s. Those options include women in their 40s, many women in their 30s, and a smaller % of women in their 20s. This is a relatively small % of men. You don't turn 40 and co-eds start t…

I said people need to be realistic about who is available out there. This is a universal thing. Women looking for men who have the characteristics I described are much like men who think they can find a 24 year old gorgeous virgin who is going to be incredibly sexual with only them. Both need to be realistic about what is available in the dating world and get their ego out of the way so they can be open to a good partner.

I think it is a bit more complicated. I think it is an issue of being realistic instead of "not settling." I noticed when I was on the dating apps that there were seemingly a lot of women who described that they were looking for a successful educated guy who was also going to support her reaching her goals. What I was reading was they were looking for a Vice President to their President of the relationship. I have no issue with this. But I do think it is unrealistic to find a motivated, successf…

It is the framing of a complicated issue as being very simple so that she can push a political agenda for governments to direct more resources to a group that she favors. There seems to be a growing sentiment amoung many people that the policies of the Dem party in the US are more advantageous to single women than any other group. (Not sure I agree but I can see the argument.) I'd also say that the author maybe should have examined whether the men are not Mr. Wrong or if they are just Mr. Not-Go…

I think you have a sad view and somewhat slanted view of relationships being more transactional than anything else. There are definitely men who get taken advantage of by women and definitely men whose women cheat on them. Both of the guys you mentioned were easy marks. Dating a stripper is going to do that to you. As is providing a lifestyle for someone who is not living with you in a committed relationship. My experience is that once men hit a certain age over 30 or 35 (and this is men who can be choosey about relationships.) about 50% date around their age and 50% younger. The issue is not that there aren't men who are interested in women their own age. With cell phone technology, Online Dating, and the societal standard of keeping things casual for longer periods of time, sharing isn't a surprise. Also, there are guys who are never ever single. Even if they are monogamous, they hop from one girl to another. The women don't overlap but they certainly share. And hook up culture. Very small % of guys really get to actively participate in hook up culture. So a higher % of women is hooking up with a smaller % of guys. Thus in a sense they are shari…

I have observed the pattern that I describe above a number of times. I think there are a subset of people (maybe 10-15% of the population) who are users. They tend to attach themselves to others and create unfair relationships. When most people complain about the Friendzone they are complaining about a pseudo relationship they are having with someone that has no physical component but an emotional. They are fulfilling some emotional need the other person has and most likely giving positive attention. I think many people have friends of the opposite sex. Even those they find attractive. Agreed. I don't think there is any way to completely even things out. The opt out is a good idea but I do think that marriage should prevent it. It wouldn't be a policy dealbreaker for me if married me were able to opt out. If there was a pre-marital agreement where it was included that they did not plan to have children I think that would be a good compromise.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/06/22 03:44 PM

Agreed. Although I would throw in that married men could not opt out from a child they were having with their wife. Also, if men at any point had started to consciously attempt to have a child with a woman they cannot opt out. This wouldn't be I cannot wait to have kids with you in the future, it would be they discussed and began to try to conceive a child together. No one gets to have cold feet after they have conceived in this scenario.

Agreed that the vast majority of people under 27ish are discriminatory about age. But it doesn't really matter because say 20% are not. That 20% is where age gap relationships will come from. Having to tell someone what you are or what you bring to the table, usually means that you don't have those qualities. A rich person doesn't have to tell you that they are rich. Connection is so different in person. Most people have their idea of what they want in a partner on paper but that goes out the window when they connect with someone IRL. Also, men will throw out likes for a lot of women. Women they never intend to meet or women they are intending to just have a sexual relationship with. If a woman has a bunch of handsome & successful men matching with her she is not necessarily going to give guys who aren't as desirable a chance like she may IRL.

The Age Gap Marriage portion is one that I hope more people listen to or understand. I have had a number of women want to discuss/debate this with me. They tend to frame it as men who date younger want to always date the youngest mate possible when thus is just not the case. Men prefer younger, the age of whom they prefer increases as men get older, and the age gap increases as well. For example: 30 year old wants 23. 40 year old prefers 28. 55 year old wants 38. A few points: If men date younger, 30s women can just date 40s and 50s men boom problem solved. Try telling a successful 35 year old Type A attorney that her options are men 45 and up. She probably wants a guy who is 34-42. Whom she finds attractive. I think that the vast majority of men who date and don't just talk about dating understand that they are not going to have the options to date in a way that Leonardo DiCaprio does. I went on a number of dates with a 27 year old last fall/early winter before quarantine restrictions were heightened again in my area. She was great. The other person I was seeing very nicely said we either needed to be seeing only each other or we couldn't date because we needed to limit our circles with Covi…

I think Red Pill has some good basic advice for men. Getting in shape, working to become financially successful, and most importantly I think they are really educating men about identifying and disengaging from the 10-15% of women who like to take advantage of men for attention, money, etc. If you put in the effort I think most men can attract a good mate. However, you are right that 98% of men do not have the ability to have the results of the type of guy you mentioned above. That is where the …

I think most people discuss age gap dating in the wrong way. A 32 year old dating a 20 year old is much different than a 42 year old dating a 30 year old. When someone hits late 20s or older age gap relationships IMO are just relationships. Yes if you see a 75 year old guy with a 31 year old woman I'm pretty sure that is a money thing. But a 45 year old with a 30 year old is not something I even raise an eyebrow about.

For the most part yes. App based dating has changed this a bit. It used to be that if you were in college you were completely self contained. In your own eco system. Probably for the best for college aged kids social lives. But if you go to a University in a large city which many people do, app based dating has given a lot more options. I live in the DC area and there are a number of universities in the city. I'm too old to date undergrads (I'ved dated grad students) but I know guys well past co…

I think there is some nuance to it and the older guys who are talking about men 35-50 having dating success are selling something where they take it too far. I don't think the average 40 year old guy who has his shit together can date a woman in college. (Nor should they want to.) I do think a guy in his 40s can date someone 8-12 years younger. 15 if they are 45 and she is 30. The problem is when they create some kind of fantasy that college aged women are going to fall at their feet like they a…

I did not say that I am not attracted to women who are my own age or older. I "tend" to skew younger when I date. However, I also tend not to be attracted or connect with women I meet who are in their early 20s as well. So I am not having a race to the bottom age wise. As I mentioned I think this is because I find this age range to have people who I find very physically attractive and who I connect with mentally. There are of course exceptions. Probably 10% of the women I meet who I am very attr…

I am in agreement with you that attraction for me is certainly based more than just on appearance. As it is for most men and women after they hit a certain age. For me deep attraction to someone has always been based on more than is that person hot. But lets take a step back for a moment. Maybe we are using the term differently but "The Wall" as I've always seen it used is about pure physical attractiveness. That is what I was reacting too when I typed my answer. And it is the reason that I used…

The wall is not a myth. For men or women. The hardest I have ever seen someone hit the wall is a guy I knew. Guy went from a handsome youngish looking guy to a grizzled looking mess in one summer. Very few women look as good at 40 as they did at 25. Very few men look as good at 40 as they did at 30. (I'm making the assumption that they did not lose a ton of weight or have some type of cosmetic surgery.) I'd also agree with you that women can still get men to settle down after 30. But later 30's …

At the time the relationship ended she was 27 and I was 34. I should have added context that the relationship slowly evolved to the spot it got in. I got so busy with work and life that I didn't notice how much I was giving versus how much she was giving. When I did, I tried to course correct, went through the hard process of realizing it was over, and eventually broke up. I will say it was a good lesson and I have never let a relationship even begin to get to that place again. I'm much more con…

My ex's requests were getting odder and odder. She at one point requested that I take up certain hobbies. While I was still telling her that she had to deal with her anger issues and some other basic relationship issues. It was crazy. I finally told her how crazy it was that she had changed nothing and I had changed so many things that at this point she was just making odd requests. Finally broke up with her. She told me it was unfair that I broke up with her because we should have discussed it …

I also think people have to be rational about what are fair changes to ask of someone. I think asking a partner to pull more weight around shared living space is very fair (obviously depends on divistion of duties in the relationship) or to work on any anger management issues. But to ask someone to change something about themselves is not. You have to know your partner and realize that some things are just outside their personality and are not going to happen. If those things are dealbreakers th…

Sounds like a long term relationship I was in (5+ years). My ex would tell me what bothered her and I would work to change. I told her the things that bothered me and they never changed. She promised they would change when we got engaged/married. Every time we would have a state of the relationship talk she would have a new list and mine would be the exact same. I don't think this is necessarily as gendered as everyone thinks it is. I broke up with her because nothing ever changed.

Pretty much every guy I have ever met in my life was willing to commit and has committed when they find a woman they really like. However, all of these guys have been willing to also engage in short term sexual relationships or non-committed relationships with women whom they would never consider for a long term relationship. I fell into this type of behavior for a few years after I got out of a LTR. I'd keep things casual with a woman who I was not interested in a LTR with. No commitments and t…

The issue is that the men you describe (and I was guilty of this in the past) are often willing to casually date and sleep with women who we would never consider to be potential long term partners. With app based dating it will probably only get worse. It sucks for these women as well. They raise their standards to the type of men they can sleep with is the type of man that they can secure a LTR with. Which oftentimes is just untrue.

I personally feel external pressure from a few women I am friends with about my preferences in dating. I honestly don't really speak to them about who I am dating anymore or about dates I've had. It just isn't worth the hassle or judgment from them. I think you raise a really good point and I do think that we live in a world where women are encouraged by their friends and society to know their worth and to not settle. Whereas men are often criticized for the preferences we have with dating. I'm …

(Copying in italics what I posted on another reply) I should first point out that maybe I should have been super clear that I am stating a growing trend I've noticed. Not advocating for it one way or the other. It isn't a right or wrong statement it is this is what is happening statement. Simple answer is that if that bothers you than you shouldn't settle down with that guy. Everyone in dating has a preferences. I think it is healthy to acknowledge our preferences and why we have them, to possib…

I should first point out that maybe I should have been super clear that I am stating a growing trend I've noticed. Not advocating for it one way or the other. It isn't a right or wrong statement it is this is what is happening statement. The internet allows people to compare notes and come up with theories (right or wrong. I mean we have people who are adamant that the earth is flat because of theories they read on the internet.) . I have no problem with hook up culture. It has been good to me. …

I think it shows that there is a growing number of men who are unhappy with hook up culture and women having party years where they date/sleep with men they aren't really serious about and who often aren't good long term prospects. Just hot or bad. They resent that they are the stable option. Right or wrong I think this cultural phenomenon is only going to continue to grow. It seems like it becomes more widespread every year.
