I do feel contemptuous of the dual positions that men should be permitted to abandon their children and that the child should want a relationship with the very same father. Accept the harm in it if that’s what you’re doing to do. In my case, I don’t feel contempt for my father. I’m simply not interested in him and don’t feel I’ve missed anything never knowing him. I’m not one of those people who wants to “know where I came from”. I recall my mother pursuing child support when I was in middle school, but nothing coming of it. So, he got what he wanted: nothing.
