Naw, it shouldn't be excessive but a measured physical responce is acceptable. If I threw a temper tantrum in public my mother would pull me out of there by the ear. What did I learn? It sure as shit wasn't to hate my parents like you seem to think, I learned to behave in public. Did I rebel because of it? No, I didn't want to have my ear pulled.
