Why not? They've already made it so it doesn't have to be proven - just an accusation is enough to ruin a man's life and send him to prison. The point of a statute of limitations is because it's hard to prove so far after the fact. They already don't have to prove it with evidence, witnesses, etc. so why not let any random woman who may or may not have had sex, or even been in the same town/city/country as a man she is angry at have him sent to jail for rape?
