I think what was meant there was that men who are raped are marginalized because rape is seen as something that only happens to women who are often incapable of overpowering their attacker. I don't agree with this sentiment, but it's a common misconception.

I don't feel like repeating myself, but for you, I will: I didn't cite my claim that "more women are raped than lie about being raped," because it is common knowledge. In addition, if false, it would deny the existence of rape, which is illogical. It amazes me that you require a source for a statement as innocuous as "women are raped." Compare that to the claim that only 8% of rape claims have enough evidence to make a conviction. Where did "8%" come from, exactly? Surely, you see the difference…

What bullshit? It's the conclusion of society-at-large that only a fraction of rape allegations are false. To argue the opposite would be to say that rape doesn't happen, which is impossible.

It's not that the evidence doesn't support my statement, but it's common knowledge and a waste of my time. I have the same statistics you do. Estimates vary, due to the nature of the crime, but every single CREDIBLE source says the same thing: more women are raped than lie about being raped. If you dispute that, you're a conspiracy theorist, and no one cares what you have to say.

This isn't a men's rights issue, just like it wouldn't be a women's rights issue if the genders were reversed. If anything, it's a gun rights issue, and it just so happens that boys are encouraged to play with weapon-like toys more than girls are.

I believe they're trying to prevent the kind of rape that is most common. While women are more likely to be assaulted by someone they know, and men more likely a stranger, but I think ("think" being the operative word) the former outweighs the latter if you're just looking at the numbers.

The gender binary assigns essentialist attributes and behaviors for men and women, and when people deviate from what is considered acceptable (e.g. men showing weakness), sometimes the cultural response is to shame or ostracize them.
