I DO think it's a stupid practice and I DO equate it to female genital mutilation. The comment I was replying to was stating that people in the US make a big deal if you choose not to circumcise to which I responded with my experience of the exact opposite. When we had our son, they asked us if we wanted to schedule a circumcision or not in the most clinical way possible. We declined and that was that. Even our family, who probably by default assumed we would, accepted it and has never even mentioned it.
