So I'm sure that a lot of you will have seen the BBC's great 'wage gap' reveal. At the moment I think my feeling towards it is that clearly there are more high earning male stars than women, and I have no objection to the BBC wanting to encourage more woman to enter media in order to level the playing field. However in this article on the BBC website, it seems that there's more of a push for reducing men's pay rather than increasing women's which just doesn't make sense to me? I can't understand…

I think the issues is that in isolation, one child missing a week of school isn't really a problem, but if you have half your class suddenly on vacation because the parents fancied it then it creates a lot of issues for schools and teachers - which are already under huge strain from lack of resources. I don't understand why this is a men's rights issue... correct me if I'm wrong, but I haven't seen anything to suggest that he's been discriminated against or disadvantaged for being a man. Sure, there are certainly is issues surrounding this case in terms of parental/state control of a child's upbringing but I'm not aware of anything that has made this a gendered issue?

Let me know where you get to with that, I'd be interesdted to hear their responses. I'm glad to hear that you're at least willing to consider moving to the egalitarian side of things. And that is the issue I have with "intersectional feminism" - they focus on marginalised groups, but (rightly or wrongly) they don't consider men a marginalised group - they're not interested in men's rights even if they might claim that "feminism is for men too".

Since you agree that intersectional feminism is basically egalitarianism, why not just use egalitarianism? [Fem]inism is inherently about women - whatever claim it may make that feminism is for everyone, and that it helps men etc.... Feminism is, by definition the advocacy of women's rights on the ground of the equality of the sexes. Having read your responses to this I appreciate the care and consideration that you've clearly put towards your thoughts on the matter. I can't talk for everyone on this sub, but from my perspective "feminists" who think like you are better aligned to the movement of egalitarianism. Real friends are people you can hang out with, bicker about stuff like this and then leave each other in peace after the argument is over. Thankfully we have a good enough relationship that we can do this - once the feminism argument is over we go back to being buddies, but when we get into debates (admittedly both of us) get very into them and refuse to back down.

I've tried this, apparently it's just making it all about men (because patriarchy) and we need to focus on all the made-up-statistic female oppression issues... It get's his guard up, and as much fun as it is getting him wound up during a debate, It's not really my goal here.
