It's kind of depressing that the first thing you can do to protect your daughter is give her a really common name.

Oh, but that's part of the investing, see? Give this obviously qualified person money and in return he will dispense his life-changing wisdom on how to man!

I wonder how dependent all this is on culture. I'm in Sweden. I only know of ONE couple who separated after having children together and didn't have a 50/50 split of custody, and in their case the father gave the mother full custody and went no contact (this was after I met them edit: also, the father was British). Whenever anyone mentions having split custody, it's almost always every other week with adjustments for major holidays. I've never met or heard of anyone who even went to court regard…

Oh definitely, there are always exceptions. My current boyfriend is the opposite of all those things you list and has been playing tabletop RPGs since he was 8. I had never played before he introduced me to it, so my experience is very limited, but none of the people we've played with so far have been like that either. We're currently playing with a group that includes a married couple who are some of the most wholesome people I have ever met.

If a man you're in a relationship with is neurotypical and not affectionate towards you, he doesn't actually like you. The point of what she said there is the last part. Someone who is not neurotypical may very well like you very much but still not be affectionate. A neurotypical man who likes you will be affectionate. So no, if you want affection, it makes no difference whether he's neurotypical or not. The lack of affection just doesn't tell you anything about whether he likes you or not if he…

I've never had a man try to tell me what to wear or complain about my clothes. I just wear something comfortable.

In the live action version starring Kristen Stewart, the Queen is scared of losing her beautty because it protects her. Her mother put a spell on her as a kid while their village was being raided, so the invading king spared her because of her beauty. She's still a psychopath who drains young women of their youth to keep the spell going though.

If it was that, there would be established celebration traditions for things like (a man) getting a promotion, (a man) starting a business, (a man) retiring... Graduation is the only thing not connected to procreation somehow that's generally celebrated. Plus, gender reveal parties got popular right quick, unlike any attempts at marking milesstones not related to procreation. My guess is that people accept celebrations that are really about the benefit of the collective (marriage etc. = babies =…

I also don't understand why wedding marketing is mostly directed at women, when most studies show women benefit less from marriage. Makes perfect sense: we're the ones need to be convinced that marriage is amazing. The whole point of advertising is to make people think they want/need the thing being sold.

Same. My first boyfriend was really tall and I hated everything about it. Damn near breaking my neck every time we kissed, having conversations with his ribcage... Not my cup of coffee. An insecure man will either find something to have a complex about or try to hide his insecurity by being loud and boastful, no matter what he looks like.

I don't know; I've barely been interacting with people IRL since the pandemic started. But it makes sense; those aren't bots spewing misogyny online. And with so many people working from home, interacting with coworkers and even family through a screen, the manosphere communities are no longer as much of a separate world in their lives.

The book is trash and the claim that there are five love languages is pseudo-science, but the basic idea that different people express love differently and feel a bit more loved when their partner does certain things compared to others is useful if you want to understand humans in general better. Thinking everyone has a main thing and as long as you cover that one you're good is offensively absurd, though. It's also indeed a useful theory if you want to make things work in your relationship for …

Yes! Men looked at women's sudden right and ability to walk away from a bad marriage and turned it into "Wohoo, women's liberation means you can have sex with as many men as you (we) want!" with the aid of liberal feminism. The right to say no was twisted into an obligation to say yes.

he will feel emasculated because you are signaling that he isn't enough I've got no time in my life for men who feel emasculated by anything. If he's that insecure in his own identity, he's got some work to do I'm not prepared to coach someone through again. There's a difference between 50/50 not matching his values and him feeling like it impacts his manliness somehow.

OH my god. "I felt justified in my anger"? He says he's "pretty decent" so he's obviously not aspiring to make it big in e-sports or anything and missed out on a huge opportunity because of this. This is the equivalent of tanking someone's Reddit karma. Oh nooo, muh e-penis!

There's a saying that you are the sum of the five people you spend the most time with. Even if you don't believe in that, curating your social circle is crucial to levelling up, whether that be by finding new friends, setting firmer boundaries or cutting people out. A lot of people will see you changing and try to sabotage it, consciously or not. I don't think it's hypocritical to want to distance yourself from behaviours that aren't aligned with your goals and values. You can judge that what pe…

They just want "pair bonding" so they know they'll always have access to at least one woman if their efforts to get sex from other ones fail.

Rule number one with skincare is to start slow. Test one new product at a time for at least two weeks to see how your skin reacts to it. With some active ingredients, like BHAs and retonoids, your skin with usually "purge" at first, which means you will get pimples after 1-2 weeks which will go away again with continued use. With retinoids it's extra important to start slow and be careful, because they WILL cause irritation and dry your skin out at first otherwise. If you like how your skin is n…

My NVX told me years into the relationship that he lost his virginity to a prostitute while the pimp was in the next room, like it was a funny story. It was so obvious from his description that the poor woman was NOT in that profession out of her own free will and he didn't seem to reflect on that at all. I was too horrified to even say anything.

That's why I made a separate account for FDS. I can't be arsed to deal with that. Also my main account probably has too many identifying tidbits if you put it all together and I definitely can't be arsed with being doxxed for hanging out here.
