I have been shoveling shit for three years, but 2024 takes it to a whole new level. Good thing is that the pile is getting smaller and the sparkling turd is gone. But I also got very lucky in my misfortune which helped making a dent in the pile.

Doing it with a mediator means that both are willing to negotiate to avoid ruinous costs. It does not mean that its going to be nice or pleasant. And for the love of god do not lead with a high offer. This is a negotiation, not a picnic party. If you open high you paint yourself in a corner and likely will either lead you to take a poor deal or resort to lawyers. I got a good deal out of mediation but it took a lot of efforts on both sides to get to the finish line, and I opened as low as I coul…

Only once I found out about the cheating did I get the jolt to allow me to see the water I was drowning in. I gained a lot of perspective about why/how people can stay in abusive relationships. The funny thing is that once you see how bad some things are from a new perspective there is no "unseeing" it, and it made the divorce all but inevitable. What hurt the most is realizing that your spouse did not see anything wrong while using double standards, and trampling your boundaries. Although, for …

Done for me ! I'll have her name removed from the deed in the coming days. And yes the amount of stress relief is crazy. It's been a week and I'm exhausted all the time. Body recuperating from being on high alert for 6 months.

You will feel a lot of 'could-shoulda'woulda'. It's normal. I also get waves of anger/disgust from the cheating. When I get in that place, I get out and go for a run. If you do/did some art, it's relly good to put your mind out of the situation for a few hours (anything that gets you into a flow state is amazing for this actually). Also, at some point you'll spend a day full day without thinking about it. It feels amazing.

Decluttering the house room after room. I guess that the upside of living with someone with hoarding tendencies is that once the clutter is gone, you essentially redecorated. Also, finally being able to put my stuff on display really helped.

Random rage outbursts, inability to be accountable and conflict resolution boiling down to me bending over backward to pacify my spouse with no reciprocity -> Resentment -> Withdrawl / Burnout -> Loss of intimacy -> Cheating -> Divorce.

When I started anxiously freezing before entering home, not knowing what mood to expect. The cheating was the final straw and necessary trigger to press eject.

This is hard. Worst part is this small bliss moment before all the shit you're getting through comes rushing back. What helped me is quantifying the shit out of everything that could , and smashing clay, rocks and dough for the rest. Good luck
