Sleep is a grey area for many people; everyone's sleep patterns are at least slightly different so what works for someone might now work for you. Best way is to experiment it yourself. For now, I can tell you that it won't harm muscle growth since you will be getting the needed sleep.

What would Don Draper do? Don't feel sorry or missed out. Reply with something that hints that you were busy on an important thing or with another girl etc but don't obviously tell that, just drop hints. Then say something like don't worry, I'll leave you happy etc and set up an appointment.
