I’m inclined to disagree. Both cases are generally a result of the same cause: the employee starts to give less and less about what they do because it’s too low paying compared to the effort involved. I’ll be honest, the only reason why I would quit my job formally versus just straight “losing my job” is because referrals from the supervisor in my line of work matter and I need to feign to my next boss that I’m confident and ambitious

I don’t know, I never liked Thoreau and I kinda disagree. I just thought it was weird you mentioned him alongside mostly STEM based influences.
