I can sympathise with you here as this has been my marriage for a while. However I have just found out my wife has had an affair and it takes it to a completely different level. I'm a mess, starting a new job in 4 weeks and just starting therapy as I'm stressed, anxious and overwhelmed. Lost half a stone in the past 2.5 weeks.

What if the relationship has broken down and one of them is unfaithful?

At least your wife has told younshe wants one. This is my exact situation and mine doesn't want a divorce, but she only loves me like a brother. She only wants counseling if we can look into seperating at the same time and have a trial separation. But yet I'm being unreasonable saying it's counseling or divorce.

She said counseling won't work and has mentioned straying away from home. And she's going out a lot with her divorced best friend over the last 6 months and rolling in at 2am.something even her mother told her to stop

I'm going through this now. We been a bit detached for years through various issues, my past mental health, stress of young children, she started talking about loving me like a sibling, knights in shining armor, affair... I gave my wife an ultimatum - we go to counseling and work on our marriage fully committed or we separate. She said she would do counseling while planning what a separation would look like at the same time. She says it not binary and I'm trying to bulldoze her into a decision..…

It's in the past now so no harm looking forward.

I've told her no and then she said about counselling and I said that's off the table now. I clearly gave her 2 options, divorce or counselling, she came back with trial separation with counselling on the side as a third option.

I'm in UK and we work off the status quo, if I've moved out then that is the status quo

Going through something similar as we speak. She hasn't cheated as far as I'm aware but wouldn't be surprised only a matter of time.

Thank you, I had the conversation thus morning and gave 2 options, we either go to marriage counselling or divorce. She came back with a 3rd option which is a practice separation (where I move out) and counselling during it if I want to organise it.

What did you do after she said that? Did you start the process straight away or did you let it try and resolve itself?

Thanks, I'm going to speak to a solicitor when she's away with work this week
