it sounds like you are reminiscing about something that may partially only seem golden because it's in the past. getting together with someone who has a kid from someone else comes with all sorts of complications; societal expectations are only a very small fraction of those issues. if the spark left, couldn't that be a foretelling of issues that would've come up had you decided to get together with this woman? and that falling out - isn't that also a possible red flag that maybe your nostalgia …

I don't normally join the conversations here, but I do think that there is a dearth of research in this area and I honestly think it is extremely worthwhile to do. I also have at least a little bit of a scientific background in fields adjacent to this, so I want to offer my thoughts: The severity of misogyny online is at a higher level than the severity of misandry online. However, the frequency of misandry online is vastly higher than that of misogyny. How can we operationalize (ie, make quanti…

okay, but it feels like in trying to say 'not all women are like that' you are still denigrating women who aren't your definition of 'good girls.' being on or not on the dating apps doesn't really have anything to do with it. i think most people looking to be in a relationship want stability and commitment, nothing about those things are uniquely christian. also a bit weird to highlight the fact that she's a virgin

sex education is a great tv show, in my opinion. deals with a lot of these things head-on, but as someone who is more... maybe demisexual leaning, it really hams it up with the idea that most people are having a lot of sex all the time, which i really couldn't relate to at all. but it is at least honest in that it shows young people struggling as they navigate their sex and dating lives.

Rather than having others trying to do this labor for you, why not spend your time and energy in places where people can readily demonstrate these to you more easily? Try r/menslib for discussion around men's issues that isn't centered on dunking on feminism or overly posting about when a woman does something bad, for one. You should also check out some youtubers who actively engage with and debunk some of/several of these points. Arguments aren't very convincing anyways - you need to SEE for yo…

Pretty sure I’m not a psychopath. Yeah, the point about reddit over-diagnosing is fair. I guess, some of your statements sound so foreign to me and how I think. Isn’t that how neuroscience tries to understand people. Seems like a useful viewpoint. I mean, is it? You tell me. I'm not well-versed in neuroscience and what the prevailing ways of understanding how our brains work are, but if you are, genuinely, let me know if this is the case. If you aren't, well, it may be useful for you to do some …

You seem to be convinced that a conversation with a woman is always going to be uninteresting. You should dig deep and find out why. You probably have some aspects like this and some other things to address before you get to a place where you can healthily engage in the casual sex stuff you say you want.

Aren’t most people minor variations on the same theme? If you are asking this and then telling me that you are 'introverted'/'socially awkward', the indication is that you don't interact with people all that much and aren't really having many deep friendships/relationships at this point in your life. I'm trying to come up with a reason why you have this idea that everyone is more or less the same, because I cannot begin to express just how untrue that is. I mean, I see reflections of myself in a…

people are black-boxed machines tf does this mean? I’m an introvert So like, there's a lot of misinformation out there about introversion especially as it relates to human relationships. A lot of popular internet discourse around being an introvert is really more in the vein of social anxiety, 'not liking people', and related things that aren't necessarily properties of introversion. All that an introvert is, is someone who recharges better on their own. That's it, that's the definition. An extr…

having a conversation with a girl isn’t interesting to me Yeah, this is where your problem is coming from. You seem to be convinced that a conversation with a woman is always going to be uninteresting. You should dig deep and find out why. don’t you need to add in some element of teasing too? I mean, sure, but how the hell is that going to work if you're not interested enough to even talk to them? I just lack the confidence I have a bad habit of worrying too much Trying to talk to them or carrying a conversation with them doesn’t sound interesting to me either. My dude, self-improvement is all about addressing these things or more. You should make it crystal clear to yourself what you want. Then ask how you can get there in a way that's healthy and respectful to yourself and to others. It may not seem like it, but talking to women (whether or not they seem interested in you) is just like …

Gonna give you an answer that you might've heard already and might not like. Do you regularly spend time with friends and other social groups? You don't have to be Mr. Outgoing or whatever, but having an active and healthy social life will do wonders for your mental health and your dating life. You don't need to go to parties 24/7, just do the things you already do with other people. If you are a student, talk to the other students and make plans to study together. If you exercise, talk to the o…

I think the points the other user mentioned are pretty important for you to consider. The thing about this stuff is, that you may not want to hear, is that this is probably more of an art than a science. Besides, letting someone know you're interested directly is the only surefire way to, well, let them know you're interested. It takes time and practice to get a sense for how you interact with others in this way, and you shouldn't be afraid of coming across 'imperfectly' but authentically.

Ask her questions and try to let the conversation flow - if you want to be different, ask her the most exciting thing that happened to her this past week. Something you would be interested in hearing. I think part of this process is just doing the thing, even when you're nervous, even when you don't think you'll be perfect at it. That's okay dude.

I feel like this is the reason women don't approach me first often is because I remind them of redpill and misogyny that "women have it easier to get sex". Because you prefer long-term cohabitating with women? I'm not sure I'm understanding you here. If I want to be held a lot, then some women can take that to mean "you are expecting women to fix you" because their fear of socialized male people is driven by knowledge of misogynists like redpill followers and incels. I mean, sure, anyone could t…

Lots of great commentary here. My two cents - When I was in my early twenties, my experience was that they definitely felt like a waste of time. I'd have a nice conversation from time to time but I don't think I even got any numbers from them, let alone even meeting up with someone. But I also vividly remember that a lot of the women in my IRL life at that time who I was interested in were very... not sure about what they wanted. I think being in your early twenties is just sort of like that, fo…

I'm not sure what you want to get from the folks here, but here maybe is a useful exercise you can try. I think it would first be good to clarify what your beliefs and values are, and then approach your boyfriend and ask about his beliefs and values. Maybe even have him clarify his beliefs to himself before you talk in a nonconfrontational way. Then ask, How much of an intersection do the two of you actually have in your beliefs and values? If you struggle here, how are you going to have more success where there are still social norms and customs that you aren't aware of and if you can't speak the language? A single Asian woman telling you that you're attractive shouldn't lead you to conclude that moving to Asia is the right move, like, at all. it seems that by and large women prefer to be submissive in bed and in their relationships? Like, for every dominant woman out there a bunch of others are submissive and enjoy it. Even left-leaning or progressive types seem to largely be attracted to dominant men and prefer submissive roles in bed. I find it hard to believe that this could actually be the case, I guess, because it feels like it flies in the face of every progressive thing I've learned about women. My point is, even if you see unattractive men who were able to get a wife, that doesn't mean that all unattractive men have a realistic chance of getting a wife. Alright, so what then? There are plenty of single attractive men who, for whatever reason, also don't have much of a chance of getting a wife. Maybe they're assholes. Best of luck! It sounds like you've already made your decision, and I must say I agree with it - it sounds like your folks down over in Mexico would be good to be around, for a variety of reasons. I would suggest the following - whatever that incel-affiliated site is, just don't get involved in it. Stick around on pages like this. Which is messed up by both parties I definitely agree! It's just seems that many people nowadays have no morals at all and would do anything for that quick pleasure and validation. As I've mentioned elsewhere, I think you need to look at the influences you are putting in your life. It seems that the people who are around you right now are all tending to behave in this kind of way. I will be very honest with you here - I don't really see many "successful" examples of good relationships around myself. You should def keep looking - talk to your parents or someone older whom you trust about this. I'm also in my mid twenties, and to be frank with you, dating at this stage has been and is often rough. That's just sort of a thing especially at this age, and especially with a pandemic going on - among many other factors. But to address your underlying fear that a girl can just ea…

And in terms of "normal relationships not working out part",as I said, it just seems that girls will always leave for the more "stimulating" partner after awhile of dating. Why do you think this? What about any examples in your life where this specifically didn't happen or hasn't happened?

What I've noticed is that most people tend to get bored by each other during relationships. The attraction, the spark and the love that is sooo stimulating, gets annoying and boring for most of the people. And in the end loads of both guys and ladies tend to just search for a new and exciting option. How did you come to this conclusion? Have you witnessed this in your own life, in media, or elsewhere? I have a couple of things I want to poke and prod at with what you said, but I'll try to do so as quickly as possible since I'm currently not in front of a keyboard. One thing your thought process doesn't seem to take into account is the variety of preferences women actually have when it comes to dating, or even just the company they keep. There is absolutely no reason why an introvert can't make a good impression on a woman, especially if that woman herself isn't fond of loud, out there, first-…

Hey friend, first off I want to affirm your feelings. Feeling 'stuck' both socially and in the dating realm is incredibly frustrating, and you definitely aren't alone in your feelings. From your post it sounds like there are a couple of different but related things that are related to your frustration: having a good social life is a luxury i guess? Welcome to the journey friend! First off, I’m sorry about how things are with your nMom, and I guess I’d like to say that there are probably many things that are ‘your fault’ in her eyes that really aren’t your fault at all. Distancing yourself from her in as many ways as possible should be a major priority, I think. Why is it assumed...? This is a trope that many male-female relationships, at least in Western culture, seem to fall into. It's one that women have developed the vocabulary to discuss and recognize, as it's likely pretty uncomfortable to be in for both parties. I think the user you're responding to made this distinction not because they're assuming how you treat women, but because this is a common trope that tends to happen a lot and can be exhausting/unfulfilling for all involved and is somethi…

This is great advice, but I have an addendum to the first paragraph here: your former friends and acquaintances have NO obligation to even respond to you, OP. If you decide to reach out to former friends, be clear about what you did and why it was wrong, AND apologize, you should be prepared for either no response at all or completely hostile and closed off responses. If they felt hurt by or because of you, there's no telling how they'd react and they have no obligation to engage with you furthe…

I think folks in the comments have recommended some great places online (I'm not familiar with Bropill nor trollychromosome but can confirm that menslib is a generally more positive space which lacks the toxicity you describe). OP, I’m 5”8 and have struggled with some of these things for a while. Putting yourself out there will get easier as pandemic restrictions ease up, but that’s just it - it will require you to go out and do things and meet other people and take risks. It will have to be uncomfortable for you to make more genuine connections. You will have to look around at clubs and intramural teams and fraternities and whatnot. You are aware that rap, and the lyrical themes therein, have been controversial since the birth of the genre - well before the invention of proper cancel culture - right? Welcome to the subreddit!! The short version of my answer is that, you cannot convince someone of something they do not want to be convinced of. Basically I got into it with the user whose post I’m linking to above, and it essentially came down to them believing that all women are pretty much the same and want the same thing and that they could never date a girl whom he suspected of possibly viewing himself as a ‘sloppy seconds,’ less desirable choice. exciting vs safe, thrilling vs boring. I do not want some girl to date me because I am the safe alternative to thrilling, sexy guys. And on that preferences bit: it’s not about turning ‘off’ preferences or not. You need to wrap your head around the idea that a girl can casually describe some unattainable guy that she finds attractive and STILL find you and people like you attractive, worth their time, and even dateable. This is a basic fact about friendships and relationships: you confide in one another and trust one another and don’t take everything so literally. I’m not up to date on stranger things, so I’ll pass over addressing that. I am saying people do not turn off their preferences as if they are a switch. Have you never consumed any media where they awkward nerdy guy ‘gets the girl?’ This trope is so common in media that it has become kind of asinine, and I think you ought to ask why this is a trope and what it can be saying. I share these links specifically because your analysis seems to lack the perspective of what women’s experiences are actually like from their perspective. Currently don’t have the time to go through all of this so I’ll just address the tl;dr: You may want to direct your attention to questions that are similar, but with several important differences. Being a ‘good’ person is a tricky thing to define and something people have been trying to get a handle on pretty much for all of history. I guess I’d say, know that you’re not alone in the struggle! We’re all going through it too, even if we don’t ‘look’ like we are outwardly, whatever that means :) W…

There are a lot of youtubers who have videos that critically discuss the RP and the manosphere at length. Contrapoints has some great content with this, as do several other related youtubers. I think they're worth checking out for someone in your position!

Take all of the good things you got from the red pill. What is exclusive to them? Are there other healthy ways you can work on yourself and increase your confidence while also treating women like regular human beings, as equals? Also - not sure what 'strategies' you're talking about, but if they resulted in you treating others like crap, lose them.

This is actually really big, and I want to comment here to emphasize it: The rest of your life must be letting you get away with that sort of thinking, which means it is important to implement more changes than just quitting 4chan. OP, I think this user hit the nail on the head. For whatever healthy interests/hobbies you have, start following content creators that are explicitly BIPOC (folks who are black and/or indigenous or more general persons of color) and women, specifically. You're going to want to stop listening to red pillers, start unsubscribing from those subreddits and communities, and start regularly listening to and interacting with people who belong to much healthier communities and have better and healthier senses of self and other people. You'd do good to ignore this RareDarkEnergy person. I'm not a Chad, woman, nor beta because that's an incredibly simplistic way to view the world.

I think I am able to post and reflect on it now because I am in a much better place in terms of my mental well being. Reflecting and thinking about things is important but you have to be ready for it. This is HUGE. Building healthier mindsets is less about getting out of bad ones and constructing healthy ones to actively replace the bad ones. If something triggers a lot of emotional distress or anxiety for you at the moment, you should likely still give it some space, and then return to and refl…

You may have started looking st stuff thinking you were ‘smarter’ than it was. The first thing I’d say is - and this should be a no brainer - unsubscribe from all red pill and red pill adjacent stuff on any and all social media you use, immediately. If you use social media extensively, fill it with content creators who are positive and will challenge you to grow and be a critical thinker. Heck, use it to pick up and develop your hobbies and interests. Check out subreddits like this, and r/maleme…

Are you sure about that? RPers try to trap young people in these beliefs by making their arguments and reasoning sound, well, reasonable. Calling something an 'experiment' and passing it off as something that demonstrates the potential truth of a pretty important claim is exactly how they trick many people into thinking that their way of thinking is reputable. Anyone who is being lured into the red pill needs this information.

Welcome to a clearer state of mind! I believe a lot of questions have already been addressed, but I want to add this: the questions you are asking are not as simple as they sound. Becoming attractive, for example, is going to be your own unique experience because it depends on what you think is attractive. Or on trying to develop healthy relationships, well, people can tell you, but it takes years of trying to do so, reflecting on what went wrong, and doing some hard introspection and asking wha…

You are free to leave whatever manosphere group whenever you want. So why aren't they, then? We're all in agreement that they've got awful ideological narratives to some extent. One thing you haven't touched on is gaslighting; both cults and TRP/other manosphere groups use gaslighting to the extreme to convince their followers and potential followers that theirs is the only 'logical' and 'rational' point of view. The implication is if you leave, you're a soft cuck or some such and an idiot who h…

Well, there definitely is a brainwashing going on, plain and simple (at least with the red pill). Again - I am NOT labeling them as a cult, I am comparing them to one. Please understand this distinction. Also, why all this concern about supposedly unfair comparisons to TRP or MGTOW of all places?

Since I haven’t seen it yet, I’m sorry that you’ve had to go through shitty experiences, man. I know that it’s tough, and anger and resentment are so easy to hold onto and permeate our existence. But women are just people, like you and me, tbh; they’re not a different species like TRP and others claim. Take in some of the other great advice here, sit with it, wrestle with it, and grow into what feels right and true. Keep asking questions of and contributing to communities like this one.

Seeing this response and your other responses, I have the sense that you’re getting bogged down in terminology here. Comparing TRP or MGTOW or whoever to a cult does not mean we are literally saying they are a cult; a comparison is, by definition, an examination of one thing through the lens of a different (but similar enough) thing. As you’ve confirmed elsewhere in this thread and in this response, there are plenty of similarities between TRP and a more traditional cult (and one commenter has a…

Hello, seems like you’re ready to have a good discussion about this, so in no way is any of this meant to attack not belittle you, rather meant as observations based on my personal experiences and discussions I’ve had. When people here compare MGTOW or TRP to a cult, we aren’t saying that there is a single ultimate leader, that there are reeducation camps, that your money is being drained (although I believe this may be the case for some RP users?), nor that you are being forcibly cut off. I'm sorry that you feel that way. On the other hand, opening up to folks you trust is a process - if you begin it, you shouldn't dump everything on a person at once. Let it be a gradual process, which you can reverse if the person is giving you signals they may not be trustworthy after all. Additionally, be careful with what …

Now I pretty much think that socialism cannot exist because women are hypergamous. I’m really interested in how you go from ‘women are hypergamous’ to ‘socialism can’t exist’ but I’m not an expert in Marxism so I’ll focus on the former part; you tell us you need the strongest argument to be convinced about something. Introverted =/= shy, my friend. We may have tendencies to withdraw and be shy, but it’s important to acknowledge we need people as much as more extroverted people do. Maybe just in smaller, more meaningful doses. But if you do feel that you’re also pretty shy (and still if you’re introverted), the tough thing is that you have to practice being uncomfortable and going out even when you feel you just want to stay in. This is the best advice given this far. I’m a bit skeptical of that Mark Manson guy myself. Honestly OP, it’s a lot of negotiating with yourself. Being hyperfocused on this one thing will be disastrous. Allowing yourself a good time that may look different from hooking up both opens you up to actually hooking up, and at minimum guarantees you’ll have a good time anyway. It shuts off your dependence on this one thing as a source of validation, which all of us need to do from time to time.

Most of the time women are the same, they only marry for security and will monkey branch to the next man. Well-put. To give an example: One of the differences I’ve noticed between r/MensLib and r/MensRights is that, while they both discuss mens’ issues, the former does so in a way that acknowledges men must change and improve themselves and their peers along with the changes and improvements they wish to see around them. The stuff about self-improvement and working towards your own goals? Not that bad. The part where they say all women are the same, and should be treated as second-class citizens, and don’t allow nuance in the analysis of their experiences (ie not going ‘it may just be my experience, but my opinion is that’ before they say something), and reject feminism as an absolute cancer? Then that’s bad. All women are NOT the same. They are allowed to want different things. Anyone who tells you otherwise is…

Not directly no, and to be fair I haven’t really been on that subreddit at all in several years, but I’ve heard from others that there is a lot of pickup-artist and Jordan Peterson-type stuff making the rounds over there these days. Plus it’s a little pseudo-sciencey, which is another trait that community and these other communities share. I don’t think I was ever RP’d, closest I probably came was being part of NoFap for like a year and a half, but I think there’s something to be said for the noninternet media in the manosphere. A lot of pickup artists (and plenty of more loosely affiliated alt-righters) have their own books, youtube channels, chatrooms and other things. In general, yes. Sometimes people ending finding someone else long after a breakup and may end up getting together with someone soon after unintentionally - ie, that wasn’t what they meant to do immediately after. But just as often, they don’t, and spend plenty of time single. If she broke up with you, it meant that for whatever reasons, she did not want to be in a relationship with you at this time anymore. Of course. As far as resources, your girlfriend herself may be part of the solution. It sounds like you’ve opened up and been honest with her before, and I’d advise that you continue to do so. Relationships require communication & honesty with both parties, and if you can, without overwhelming her, begin to open up about what you’ve gone through and what your fears are & that you know in your logical mind that they don’t make sense, then that will be major. Reading books on body language certainly can be useful, but don’t just focus on how people viscerally react to you. Focus on what they say when you ask them something meaningful, beyond a normal everyday question. There’s a lot of things to pay attention to, in addition to just the things that will help you figure out someone’s relationship to you and what you can get out of them.
