Yeah, I agree that all positions should have combat effectiveness standards - but one's ability to meet those standards is not determined by gender. It might be biased by it (yes, men are designed to carry heavy things better) but it's not determined by it. I think we agree on this, I just wanted to emphasise it a bit further because it's really important to me. We definitely do need to keep expenses to a minimum, but I think if anyone reasonable is running the show, expenses will be minimal any…

You are completely right. Whether or not an individual is qualified for a job depends entirely on their ability to meet the standards that are set, and absolutely nothing else. If someone complains that there are factors not taken into account by those standards, the correct response is that the standards are at fault, not the candidates.
