Loving these updates, we've ALL been there, it absolutely sucks. It's like you've hardwired your brain a certain way so it believes it literally CAN'T go without contacting this person. But you can, and it does get easier, and you're doing a great job of rewiring your brain by creating new positive memories. You're gonna need more paper space soon! :)

I'm sure you may have evidence, but just note that physically abusive narcissistic exes often 'project' their own flaws onto their exes, to demonise them (limiting the chances of you reaching out and corroborating stories) and to make themselves the victim you feel sorry for. As you say yourself, he had EXTREME anger issues, and often the physical abuse takes a while to show - are you sure that his ex was a hitter? Maybe it reactive abuse after he pushed her over the edge, or totally exaggerated…

A big 'click' realisation for me about narcissists is that they really do function moment-to-moment, rather than thinking long-term. They will throw everything and the kitchen sink to win a petty squabble right now, because the 'now' is when they need their supply and to win - later is not considered, it doesn't matter. That's also how they're able to make and break promises so easily - they made it in the moment to 'win', but they have zero inclination or obligation to follow through later, if …

They don't have to constantly view themselves from an external gaze the way women are trained and socialised to from birth. We're always taught to be visually appealing, and we're our own biggest voyeurs, even in private. They have none of that. Imagine how freeing that must be, never considering their 'range' of visuals (aka, here's how I look bad, here's what I can do to look good) - they just ARE. And the world accepts and coddles them anyway.

Sending support and love, breaking up with a narcissist is always as painful as they can make it. I will say that the key to understanding them is that EVERYTHING is about control. Every single little thing. They 'hoover' you (aka, contact you periodically) just to make sure that you're still under their control - and every time you respond, or get annoyed, or snap back at them, you're giving them 'fuel' which they love. Doesn't matter if your response is positive or negative, both give fuel. Th…

Narcissists think moment to moment, and each singular moment is just about control. In the moment he possibly does mean (and convinces himself that he means) to buy it, which gives him 'narc fuel' since his girlfriend praises him and he feels powerful - but narcissists feel no obligation to follow through on promises, so simply the next 'moment' he decides against it, and abandons the idea, and moves on. He wins.

Rick is a smugly superior 'talks down to everyone' type who is also very depressed, so he gets away with being a complete asshole to everyone because 'awww, he's saaaad'. Never takes ownership for his behaviour, constantly endangers/kills with ZERO empathy, deadbeat father who ditched his family but his daughter STILL LOVES HIM AND BEGS FOR HIS ATTENTION, he just 'is who he is', and people respect and love him for it. Guys who identify with him are objectively the worst.

The lyric is 'You can't hurt my feelings, but I like pain' - the lyric I'm referring to is 'Never lost a fight, but I'm looking for a beating'. Unfortunately, it's worse in both cases :/ Sorry if I've ruined the song for you.

INTJ-T woman here, chiming in! Glad I'm not a man, funnily enough everything deemed wholly unattractive about the type on men is addictive and highly prized in women. Funny that.

Men think that women are 'naturally' submissive and like a big strong man, and yadda yadda, and so don't 'get' that all this shit is ingrained since birth and taught through patriarchal conditioning. They will always default to 'cute feminism and all, but women naturally are like that so :)'

No silly, he doesn't want you to break up with him, he just wants you to hate yourself and work yourself to the bone in order to become his fantasy better /s And they wonder why so many of us are single by choice. Every time one says 'it's because no-one wants you!', it's pure projection - 99% of dudes that say that are single as well.

I think a HVM would consider you a rational, intelligent being and respect your choices. Him 'being concerned' about previous sexual behaviour flies in the face of that, and smacks of controlling behaviour. If he sees you as rational, intelligent and worthy of respect, then he'll assume you took those things with you throughout your sexual history, so why be worried? And if he doesn't see you as rational, intelligent and worthy of respect, he's not an HVM and therefore why does it matter?

I hate the ones who insist that they're not really sexist, it's just a fetish thing, or a porn thing, or a sexual thing. They're training their brains to explode with dopamine when they see or commit acts of violence and hatred against women. Their brains and bodies love it, and can't get enough of it. Our entire global culture is seeped in male egocentricism - media, literature, entertainment, politics, business - and they still find the need to feed their ego as men by degrading women. It's NE…

Imagine how much they'd explode in anger and death threats if we made 'Misandry Fetish' or something (something we'd never actually do, of course). They feel completely comfortable pointing to one example of 'bad' female behaviour and painting us all with the same brush, but we can never do the same back, because...? Oh, but don't forget, misogyny = free speech, but misandry = push to get the sub banned. The ones who push the 'not all men' ideas are the same ones who know that the hordes of men …

Meh, just from the hypocrisy above (you can't use male trends of attraction being defined by society to prove anything! By the way, you can use female trends of attraction being defined by society to prove everything!), I can tell it's going to be a flip-floppy thing where you only ever aim to 'defeat' the last comment, rather than build a cohesive and consistent argument, so all I can really do is hope you do it in another direction.

So why aren't you saying that to the commentor who started the debate? You're welcome to. You're just flip-flopping into trying to make some sense, and that's fine, I think you're well positioned to actually address her discussion now that you understand her point (thanks to me explaining it). Have fun!

...and that's the debate she's having, by pointing out the logical health/medical basis in a lot of women's preferences as shown in this thread, compared to the more socially-defined and 'trend' ones found in threads about male preferences. Is it scientific? No, but that's the debate she's having. You've said a whole lot of nothing.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/04/20 07:14 PM

Yes, but their point was that these are clear examples of traits that men of those times were madly obsessed with and saw as the ideal of female beauty. The fact that that has changed only PROVES the comments point that men's attraction is based on what is seen as 'status-worthy' at the time. If men's tastes have changed, that's literally just meaning she's correct. You're literally proving her point, and arguing for it, while thinking you're disproving it. Read it again.

There are a million 'purely cosmetic' things that people want/don't want for their children, though. If you agree that yes, these cosmetic things are attractive or less attractive generally, then you understand why people want their kids to have the best 'odds' of their kids having their own genetic success. Attractiveness affects everything about life - it's proven that attractive people get more promotions/treated better by people around them/generally paid more attention to. It's not fair, it…

It's not insane at all, life is all about mitigating risks. Just because you can't eliminate risks entirely doesn't make it 'insane' to take precautions or mitigate what you can. She's being perfectly honest and quite reasonable, yet you're calling her insane. Did her words affect you personally?
/r/PurplePillDebate06/04/20 05:01 PM

I think the honest answer is that society and culture at large has consistently told them that 'whatever woman is doing, it bad! Judge! JUUUDGE!'. And, also, 'whatever man feels, it is logical and rational! You are correct! Always!' tl;dr - women can't win, ever (we knew this) and even if men have zero logic behind their beliefs, they will insist on them being true regardless (we knew this). It really does come down to woman bad, man good.

Quite possibly; we don't have much context to go on. Alternatively, what's to say that the husband doesn't enjoy the fact she has a vibrator, and integrates it into their sex life? He might enjoy watching her use it - so he could support her having the vibrator, but she might not feel the same way towards him having a flesh light and it just comes down to preference. Hell, perhaps the reason he never went and got one is because he doesn't feel inclined to. I think in this case, we don't have eno…

She said she wouldn't fight it, so she recognises that doing so would make her a hypocrite. It's just a concern. I'm sure that the boyfriend could have concerns about her having a vibrator but he doesn't say anything because he doesn't think it's an overly big deal. Just because you have concerns about something isn't wrong.

If it bothers you enough to leave, then leave. If you're fine with it enough to stay in a relationship, stay. It's pretty hypocritical if you were to leave despite having three times as many lovers, but ultimately you just need to either deal with it or move on.
