Outside of what’s already been mentioned....clean. Don’t let shit pile up. Laundry, dishes, mail, yourself......clean that shit up! It’s sounds stupid, but it helps to come home to a place that isn’t trashed.

You’re setting yourself up for a bigger fall, brother. Even if you reach some “agreement” to stay together, you’ll never trust her again. You may say you can, but you can’t. Trust me. Time to focus on yourself.

Pulling for you, brother.

Sounds lame as shit....but time, brother. Your mind is healing. It’s not an instant effect. Stay active, get sleep and eat properly.

Maybe they’re batshit crazy and you’re too close to the situation to realize it. Not everybody is the same person behind closed doors.

Maybe you’re batshit crazy and he did what’s best for him?

You’re not focusing on yourself, which should be A #1 top priority. You say she, essentially, forced you to propose. So, it’s obvious that it wasn’t what you had in mind. Maybe it was pregnancy....who knows? Point is, you haven’t been your version of “happy” in a long time. Concentrate on getting back to that.

Took me about six months to start the healing. Best advice I can give is don’t skip the little shit. By that, I mean your every day, common stuff. Making my bed every day before I leave for work was HUGE for me to maintain normalcy. It may seem like a petty thing, but the purpose is to keep focused on what you need to do to take care of yourself. And it spread from there. No dirty dishes older than one day. Grocery shopping every Saturday. Laundry every Sunday. Working out every other day. Etc. …

Short and 100% anecdotal..... It just prolongs the inevitable.

Never said it was. He basically says, “ Don’t get at me if you can’t afford $2500/mo rent”. Swell guy.

When it feels like you have a roommate rather than a significant other.

Yeah. Don’t do it. It won’t end well. Unless you’re able to 100% completely shut down your emotions during this time, it will get ugly. We don’t know your circumstances. You might be in a unique situation. How long? You good with her dating other dudes? She good with you dating other women? It can get really messy, brother. Edit: The healing process won’t begin until you’re separated for good. Take that for what it’s worth.

She’s taking you for a ride, brother. My guess is things won’t be so “civil” when/if you file. Friggin’ light switch.

It’s going to hurt for a while, brother. There is no possible way to sugar coat this fact. You don’t need to go out. If your way of coping is being solitary....so be it. As long as your health doesn’t suffer. Eat well. Sleep as much as you can, whenever you can. Try to get as much exercise as possible throughout the day. These are important. It’s gonna get better. That’s cliche as fuck, but it’s the truth. Just please don’t expect it to be like a light switch. It’s just going to slowly fade. Eve…

Separate bank account.....now. Just because everything appears amicable now, doesn’t mean the situation will end that way. I made this mistake and am still recovering.

That’s borderline extortion, my friend. My opinion would be to not give in. If you have all your ducks in a row (do you?), you have nothing to worry about. Might not be a bad idea to seek some legal counsel, if possible. Could save you a lot of time, money and headache later on.

I respectfully disagree. Venting and getting the frustration and anger out in this fashion is beneficial. Now, universe willing, he can make moves forward. Happiness will come.

I was going to try to type out something inspirational in the hopes of making you feel better....but I can't. The pain is every bit equivalent to someone close dying. You wake up in the morning and they're not there anymore. They're not there to greet you with a hug and a kiss when you get home from work. Nobody to run through your day with when you're having a bad one. The list is endless. These questions you have about what happened with the relationship? Most likely, they will never be answer…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
