That's fine too, but just like not every MRA is an angry woman hater, as so many in /r/Feminism like to broadcast and believe, not every feminist is out to fight for privileges of women and trampling rights of men. Hate is a very powerful emotion, and negative energy can do a lot. However, being for something is a much stronger platform than being against something. I'd like to be for men's rights, not against feminism. Sometimes, these two things will be the same thing, and sometimes they will …

Pointing out the anti-male sentiment is needed, however when we point it out and then turn around and spout out anti-female sentiment, than I don't think we have a right to be pointing any fingers. Many of the same issues men face! Body image/marketing, lack of respect in certain workplaces, right now they're facing having their (what I consider a) right to birth control taken away. Different issues, but women having issues doesn't mean men don't, and the other way around. I'm aware that men can…

Those are privileges, not rights, as you said yourself.

In fact if they are going to be at odds with each other, than everyone is missing the point completely. Nothing is going to be solved by trampling others, or by hypocritically blaming others for problems that we have a hand in.

It's true, some women think they're living in their grandmothers' time, and there is all this oppression. Similarly, I've found that some of the men on here think that because Feminism exists that all women are out to get us. I had a conversation today with a man that told me the following: If a man and a woman decide to have a baby, and then later the man decides it's not working out and wants to leave her, he should be free of any care for his child. It's the second time I've had the same argu…

Your child's livelihood is your responsibility, whether you're there or not. You don't get to throw away your right to be a father, the same way women can't take it away. If your argument is "Women do it all the time", than it is obvious neither party puts much weight into the whole thing. We can argue all day man, I won't budge an inch and clearly you won't either. Goodbye.

Second of all, what is a "real issue", what isn't, and how do men have more? This is exactly what I mentioned above about coming to r/mensrights and then spending the entire time defending women. This is absurd. PeterPrinciple, you win. I will no longer be identifying as an MRA, I can't come here anymore and be embarrassed for men in general by people spouting off things like this. Enjoy.

My boss spent a night in prison last year for not paying a parking ticket. I'm pretty sure when a court rules that you have to pay something, and you don't, that'd be called breaking a law. And, when you break laws gasp you go to prison. This isn't an oppressing men thing, (the law itself may be, and depending on the ruling, could be terribly unjust), this is a consequences of your actions thing.

Well WELCOME BACK! No, that guy thought that men were able to walk away from their bills, and leave them in the hands of others ;)

First, even if there is more anti-women sentiment in the MRM than anti-male sentiment in the feminist movement Never said that. There's bullshit in both. My point is that if we're going to be pointing fingers at the one's doing it on their side, we sure as hell better not be doing it on ours. men face more real issues I'm sorry but I don't think this is true. Both genders face issues and I don't think calling one side more "real issues" than the other is right. I would argue that complaining abo…

I've seen it a couple times in this thread now so I just have to say it: THE MEN'S RIGHTS MOVEMENT DOES NOT EXIST BECAUSE OF FEMINISTS. IT EXISTS BECAUSE MEN NEED A VOICE, AND BECAUSE THERE ARE INJUSTICES AGAINST US. IF FEMINISM IS THE ONLY REASON WE EXIST, WE ARE GIVING THEM TOO MUCH CREDIT, SELLING OURSELVES SHORT, AND MAKING A MOCKERY OF THE MOVEMENT ALL IN THE SAME BREATH. Ahem. Thank you.

Not sure who downvoted you, wasn't me. Thanks for the point about the twitter conversation, I'll focus more on bringing up the issues with people like that. To be honest I just wanted to be really mean to them haha. I'm aware that it has no bearing on the fact that there are men's issues, I shouldn't have said that. I was more feeling that the people are bringing up these issues are the same ones throwing women under the bus, and it made me second guess everything they said. I know what I believ…

Also, /r/equality is awesome. Covers both genders, good discussion, links from both sides. I just joined today and have been enjoying it. I might be leaving this sub soon in favor of that.

Yea I'm with you on this. I agree with what people are trying to work toward, but I feel like I can't associate with the movement itself, or it takes away all validity of my opinion. I get into more arguments defending women in this sub than in any other, and frankly it scares me. Your TL;DR is perfect. I feel like I'm crazy when I tell people I identify with MRAs, but then I come here and I feel crazy for being one too, and it makes me sad. It pisses me off as much as anyone else when I see sex…

Conveniently enough, it was actually by you! Right here below, when you're saying I should "get some brass knuckles I can randomly swing around at Chuck E Cheese". Or was there another meaning to this insightful tirade, perhaps I misread it? Completely agree with everything you said. I'm totally for support and help with any sort of group, for any demographic. The group has been set up with the best of intentions and I hope they bring a lot of good. The comments section definitely brings out the best people, even on here. So far today I've been told I'm a "fucking socialist" for suggesting that someone who has committed a fairly financially substantial crime to not be allowed to renew their passport until it is resolved, and also in…

You're right, it does seem weird that if you're going to go specifically to black people, why not just get everyone in on it. Don't segregate and then demonize others, it just creates an antagonistic environment. We should be asking about other ethnicities. Unfortunately I see that conversation steering in the direction of people thinking I'm a racist. I could see an approach to this site ending with a similar reaction, if their FAQ rings true to their feelings. It basically says that because so…

Yea.. I'm not really sure how you got socialist from that, I'm not sure it means what you think it means. It's also clear you didn't even bother to read the rest of that post before getting up in arms about all the CRAZY EVIL SOCIALISM that it contained. Also, right now I'm going to petition to raise taxes on everyone so that I get more free health care benefits. So you better watch out, if you get sick, you might be cared for without any cost to you. Don't say I didn't warn you man.

Totally, and I respect that. I'm just not a big fan of having a website that's all about sharing your stories of being treated a certain way because you're different and then excluding people. How did women get looped into this, but a subject like racism not? It just seems weird that if you want to end street harassment, you should be covering street harassment. Not just street harassment if you're a woman or a gay man. Stop Street Harassment to me says racist slurs, sexist slurs, homophobic slu…

That I agree on. My point was that it's not "reverse harassment", it's just "harassment". Also, their huge banner at the top of the page says "you have the power to end street harassment" I must have missed the part where it said **by straight white men only. If they get harassed we don't want to hear about it here please.

The question in comment is not a user submitted question, it is posted on their site under the FAQ. They wrote both the question and answer.

"Abusing and harassing people is wrong!" .. "..oh except when it's to these people. They're different." I just don't get it. How do you fight segregation with segregation?
/r/MensRights19/02/12 11:40 PM

A man being objectified is not "reversed harassment". It's just plain old regular harassment. People who claim to be victims and want abuse to stop, while claiming it's okay to do to others, aren't victims. They're not fighting the action being done, they're fighting that it's happening to them. Totally discredits anything they have to say in my opinion.

Man it's nice to see an uplifting article in this sub. Thanks for posting. While it scares me that a guy in a PTA is getting news coverage, I won't complain that someone noticed someone being a great dad.

It's really important for both parents to be involved in their kids lives, it's nice to see an article about it. Hopefully it will break down some gender stereotyping :)

True enough. That makes it complicated, I wouldn't want anyone skipping town if they owed me that much money, what if he just never comes back? I see what you mean though, good point.

Nope, keep reading. I'm on a witch hunt, and also beat children with brass knuckles. Questioning TMZ headline instead of jumping on the hate wagon = child abusing hater of men everywhere. I had no idea my moral fiber was of such poor quality, I'll be sure to blindly follow whatever I read in sensationalism trashy journalism, and pass judgement accordingly.

Psycho Witch Hunts? You mean questioning a TMZ headline, maybe implying that the entire story wasn't there? Jumping to conclusions like I'm on a psycho witch hunt, or jumping to conclusions like if he actually had owed the money, he shouldn't be allowed to get a passport? I'm not sure what witch hunt I was on except saying that he shouldn't be allowed to leave the country, if this was just negligence, as I stated in my original comment. Hmm, not sure I was calling people out on anything. but if this has been a situation of him neglecting to pay it, then he shouldn't get a passport. As in, "if he's in the wrong here and has just not paid because he didn't feel like it, he should pay it". Wasn't making any claims to know anything simply that if he owed the money he owed the money, I wasn't aware of the paternity suit, which I made clear when someone corrected me. Alright I have to call it on this one, if you owe $1M in child support, I'm assuming this has been accrued over a long time, so no, he shouldn't get a passport. He should be allowed to work of course, but in a situation like this where he's leaving the country, it makes it difficult. I'm not saying it's right that he owes this much, but if this has been a situation of him neglecting to pay it, then he shouldn't get a passport. Agree with the law or not, not paying your debt has consequences. EDI…

I'm sure it's some form of discrimination, and it sure as hell is a bad idea. Maybe first year, have them separate, get their confidence up. I could see how it might be intimidating. But year two, merge the classes together, it'd be half girls half boys by the sounds of it. So no need for anyone to feel like they're alone in the class. More women need to be in science and math and if they're feeling intimidated by being the only girl, or only one of a few, then sure, let's help them get into it.…

But if that is what the country votes for, then that's who they choose. Being a leftist doesn't mean you want Hillary Clinton in power and hate men's rights, in means you're a leftist. I don't think it's fair to say if you're a leftist then you're undermining men's rights. I don't think anyone should reject equal voting rights for women, or the ability for women to be in power. I don't really like Hillary Clinton though, but then I don't really like a lot of politicians. Thank you for explaining…

Sorry, you're right. I just don't want to see Men's Rights Supporters turn into Anti-Women's-Rights-Supporters. Not all of them are torch and pitchfork, and there are areas where women's livelihoods could be improved in comparison to men's, just like the other way around. If the idea is to be taken as less seriously as possible, then calling out feminists right at the go is perfect. The asshole feminists who want to raise shit will find their fights within the arguments, not within the identific…

Reading some of the replies to this have almost made me turned off of this sub. This is supposed to be about supporting men and boys, not a big hate party on feminists. If half our argument is that they're throwing men under the bus in support of their cause, it's extremely hypocritical and immature if we're doing the same thing. If you want to have a big girls against boys fight, I don't think this is the appropriate place to do it. This is supposed to be progressive, not a reactive venting gro…

It's a race to the bottom. I read the article, and some comments regarding men starting all the wars etc, and looked where to comment. On my search for the comment box, I read the rest. There is so much just...I don't even know. I can't even comment because everything is just a total fuckfest. I don't have the time, patience, or honestly writing ability to come up with an article precise, straight forward, or educational enough to make any difference. I don't think they're looking for anything b…

Yea...I'm not really sure where you got this. Seems to me there's an intelligent conversation regarding the subject. The comments "cheering and congratulating" were most likely jokes. There's a great South Park episode where Ike sleeps with his teacher, funny as hell. Throwing everyone under the bus that makes a friendly jab at a guy is just as bad as when it goes towards a girl. Chill out.
