You could also bring a nice blanket to put on the chair and a stuffed animal or something!

I was able to stop when I switched to a new dentist. I used to have to take Xanax and hold someone's hand (even for cleanings). At this new place, I don't! It is 100% worth it to find an anxiety-trained/aware dentist. Mine is willing to shoot me up extra, he explains EVERYTHING, and he has it all on my file so I don't even have to tell him. I've had two crowns, a filling, and some bonding done and have not felt a thing!

My sister was able to be numbed for her removal, maybe ask if they can do that? They should also have something to help with pain or even an anxiety reducer. Usually, you can ask if they have someone who could hold your hand as well. I used to get that for the dentist (up until the age of like, 17) because I had dental trauma. It sounds dumb but it always helped me so much! They can reassure you and you can squeeze their hand. Also, tell your doctor that you are nervous! They usually will talk y…

I would recommend having a chat over the phone. But what you could do is set a limited time and just say, "Hey mom, I don't have too much time as I have to leave at (time) but I have some news to tell you" and then no matter what, leave at that said time. Parents can have trouble processing this kind of thing even if you have a healthy relationship, so giving her the time and space to process it by herself could be a good thing. Make sure you set your personal boundaries clear though. She should…

I use them! Most people put them in a wet bag (which is basically a fabric bag with waterproof lining) but sometimes I just pop them in the front pocket of my purse (which I ONLY use for pads, it's also lined!) When I get home, I take it out and throw it in the wash. It's easier and quieter than a disposable and I buy mine off amazon so I don't even know if the brand has any agenda, lol!

Mini-Golf and the new trampoline park thingies would also be great to add to this list! I've never heard of any teenage boy saying no to mini-golf!

I was raised in a very traditional environment. My eldest sister decided it wasn't for her and my parents were much too strict. She still visited us but she would give me books about sex and give me boxes of condoms to try and "educate" me. (Ironically, I wasn't medically cleared to have sex until like last year thanks to a chronic bladder condition.) I've watched her life and decided it's not for me. Getting emotionally dependent on men who are financially dependent on you is not the kind of li…

Leave him! Based on other replies you have sent people, it sounds like he has gaslit you into thinking you're the problem (even though he is the one that has the prior divorce!) You are not the issue here, he is. I know it is hard but now would be a great time to do it as you are going back to your home country anyways. Just rip the bandaid!

Your relatively short post history shows that you obviously seem to have issues with the way your parents raised you... Given that you talked about their past narcissism issues and their inability to let you go to the school of your choosing. I'm just wondering why you would want these people raising your kids if you seem to have issues with the way they acted and raised you? Tradition is great until it is toxic. If you don't desire these traits in your children, it may be best to find a daycare…

I don't want to disrupt tradition here, but I would be cautious of the grandparent idea if your plan is for your child to go to a standard public school. I taught in a childcare facility for many years. Some kids came from awesome grandparents who taught them their ABCs and helped them learn how to do their own things. These kids functioned fine and acted as if they had been at the facility all along. These situations worked AWESOME for the families and I could tell that they loved it. Other's w…

I've also had my comment history stalked. I was in a sub that is big internationally so RPW/RP isn't that much of a talking point but it was still kinda awkward. It's almost like people think that because I have been in this sub before, I am not allowed to know other things...

This is a great post! We should have like a link to this on the side somewhere. This kind of question comes up a lot. I need to work on not showing my disgust in my face/subtle actions. One girl in a class of mine did a presentation and my teacher called me out on my opinion just by my face... A few tips I have: Pay attention to who gets quiet in your friend group when political discussions come up. That person probably either doesn't care or has the exact opposite position as the person talking…

Showing his friend's the nudes ALONE was enough for red flags to go off for me. It leaves me with so MANY more questions. Does he use porn? (If he has these random, one-off nudes, on hand, what else does he have?) Would he share YOUR nudes? (Would he show his friends your personal images? What else would he share? He can have friends and share personal things with them BUT he has to understand boundaries and what YOU want to be shared!) Does he respect other women? (I know how I would feel if an…

I'm not OP but I admire that you just skipped it all! That's not an easy situation to sit with but being able to make that kind of decision is really mature.

First of all, welcome to reddit! Your post is pretty on par with the community, this is the kind of thing we seem to go over fairly often. I completely understand what it is like to have a sister with different values. My eldest sister is much the same. (Albeit, she is nearly twice your sister's age) Silence will be your friend. You don't have to reply to rude jabs, comments, or laugh at crude jokes. They can and will talk about it because they want a rise out of you. Don't give them what they w…

I feel like men have different intents when they call you Cute vs. Sexy (I'm a woman so all of this is from my perspective, but this is how I feel) When men call me sexy, I almost feel like they expect something from me? Like they want sex or nudes or dates. I'll have men that I'll literally never see or talk to again call me cute. It's genuine. They expect nothing from the interaction. Calling somebody cute is from the heart. I might be overthinking all of this but that's sort of how I feel abo…

I even told some of them that it was due to food poisoning and they still complimented me. Like I puked my guts out for TWO days and you think that I look good? If I was bulimic and did that they would have been concerned but since I had food poisoning, it was all okay? If someone drops that much in a weekend, I'd be concerned! I was underweight for a brief time and I had similar reactions. I didn't tell anyone that I was actively starving myself but if they knew they probably would have been ho…

I noticed I got a lot more attention when I was thinner. I got really sick one weekend when I was younger and lost around 10 pounds in a weekend. I recovered and gained the weight back pretty quickly but everyone kept telling me I looked incredible! I have since gained some weight beyond then, but I am trying to lose 10 pounds because I think I'd look better if I was back where everyone told me I looked great. It's incredibly hard to do but I have been working out and eating healthier. I wouldn'…

I've personally found that you can never go too wrong with baking (everyone loves it no matter what) but I do have my favorite recipes. If it's something like a chocolate cake or chocolate chip cookies, I just buy the box mix and add more egg/chocolate chips and no one can tell I didn't bake it from scratch. You can make a lot of things using a boxed cake mix (cake pops, cookies, brownies, bread) without having to go crazy with the baking. I try to save my experimenting for bigger/unique baked g…

The PCOS may be part of it. My jaw is a bit more masculine and my thyroid can look adam's apple-y. The thyroid I can't do anything about unless I remove it and I don't want to do that. I've been looking into some plastic surgery recently. I can't afford it right now but it would help me out a lot. Some things scare me with it and I'm a bit concerned about the long-term but I'm still in the process. I live in an area with a massive amount of surgeons though so I have plenty of options when the ti…

My childhood wasn't traumatic, at all. It was basically perfect. I have nothing to complain about. Of course, there are always the small things I want to make better for my kids (I would be a bit tougher on them than my parents were on me. I feel like i'm a bit weak compared to the old standard of women) but other than that if my kids lived my childhood, I would be thrilled. I became red-pilled when I saw childhood's that some of my peers had. I mean no offense to ANYONE's upbringing but the cha…

One of my siblings works for a gambling company and I learned about them in one of my courses at school (I could also go in the gaming industry but I am choosing not to). There are people in these companies that sit there and make it so that these websites and buildings are addictive as possible. Maybe try to find a local addict's anonymous group? Nothing will happen until your fiance chooses to go/fix his problem but if you have a group that he could turn to, maybe they could help him? They als…

In my few months of experience on tinder: I've found that saying your Christian/Catholic/Religious generally tends to work better for vetting (especially if you don't want to have sex right away). I don't know if you are generally any of those things but it weeds out a LOT of people for you. Many people also say "Not looking for hookups" but I think directly stating you are religious is better. Some men really abhor religion and will swipe left on anyone who is religious. I've found that for my …

I've definitely learned that I can't be polite about it. When I turn down a guy I'm usually like, "You seem very nice but I don't think that we are the best fit together" And the guys get it! They usually are disappointed but they move along and leave me alone. There is this whole narrative that guys are disrespectful about that sort of thing but that is not what I have run into at all! When I turn down girls I literally have to say, "I have zero interest in you at all. I do not like women. Abso…

There is no overlap at all! They don't share any majors or anything. The friends I have now are all on the fast and honors track so they are a semester ahead of the stalker group. My new friends would totally understand if I explained what happened to them. I do have one club in common with the stalker herself but she never comes to it, ever. I could drop that club if need be but she literally never shows up. I'm not too concerned about my stalker spreading rumors. She rarely gets out of her roo…

No, No, No and No. The only person I can think of with a sort of similar dress style to me is Kate Middleton (but like, the Walmart version of her). I have fairly long natural colored hair. I dressed like this in high school and no one ever really said anything bad about it. People were confused about why I was overdressed for everything but that was more of a jealousy thing. I never had any issues then at all (and I hung around with some unique characters back then, if you get what I mean) I hu…

I worry about this also! You're not alone. I do plan on (trying, it's not an easy process) to adopt no matter what but I would also like to experience having my own child. I just really like family and want to have a big one! What I am doing in the meantime is trying to make sure I'm... optimal? for fertility. Staying a healthy weight (but not like gym obsessed), eating healthy, making sure my endocrine system is balanced/working, and lowering my anxiety are some of the things that I do to make …

My family has always had at least two people working from home/stay-at-home so we're quite used to it by now. Everyone needs their own space. It can be a whole room or it can be as small as one desk but they need something that is always theirs and no one else's. (I guess this could sort of go against some RP principles but I don't think they had ever accounted for being stuck inside with your partner for months on end) Keeping a schedule board can be helpful even if you don't have things to do.…

Could you maybe do the project yourself and have him look it over/edit/proofread it when you are done? You would still have done it all yourself BUT he would still feel useful and feel like he is taking care of you.

I don't see smoking as a silly reason to dump him, it's actually a serious deal-breaker for a lot of people. As a former smoker, you probably know all of the risks. He is choosing to participate in a deadly, expensive, activity that could take years off of his life. Let him go!

I have had many friends have awesome relationships with people from foreign countries BUT only if the country is different from their home country. The relationships I've seen with countries that are similar in culture (and not necessarily "good" cultures) struggled. Just for example, dating a Canadian as an American isn't going to be that different than just dating another American. The only thing that the successful couples really had to do differently was to address cultural differences. Deci…

When a man loses all respect. For himself and for others. I haven't been in a relationship yet but I've watched my sister's relationship(s) break down into chaos because her boyfriend(s) lost all respect for everyone AND himself. I wish I could list all of the horrible things they have said and done but it's coming off as wayy to angsty. These boys (they're not men. I don't care that they are 36,37. They're boys) have set the bar SO LOW that my mom has mentally set my sister up with the man who …

I go to a university in a major city... I can think of one girl who wears dresses regularly. Occasionally if someone has a job interview they will wear them but that is it. I would wear dresses a lot more if I felt comfortable in them/fit in better. It's hard because I don't want to be gossiped about. I know I can't control it no matter what but I really just want to feel accepted sometimes... I have to deal with jealously from other girls a lot. For some reason a lot more from girls with bright…

I'm going through the same thing right now! Where I live, I can think of one girl who wears a dress (and me but other than me, I know of just one other girl). I hear the comments that people make about her and I honestly want to hide in a hole sometimes. After a few rude comments, I have just begun not being friends with certain people anymore. Some I can't avoid (coworkers) but if you make fun of me for who I am, yet call yourself a friend, that is not a friend. What was funny is one of the gir…

I'm not exactly useful to this conversation as I'm not pregnant nor am I even dating anyone, but I would love 4. All of the families I know that have 4 kids have great dynamics (don't get me wrong, any number can) but there is just something about having 4. I'll have however many I'm blessed with in the end. If it's 1 I'll be thrilled, if it's 10, the more the merrier.

His values line up with a lot of people here. He is in the exact sort of relationship that we're all looking for. His wife has spoken/written a few times and everything she has said is eloquent and what I want to be. I've been liking his expansions on his radio program as well. He has some new people on his radio show. They aren't perfect and aren't him but I appreciate that his company still has morals and values. Plus it's all free on youtube! I'm a big DR fan as you can tell, hahaha.
