Thank you for the info. I didn't realize how big this story was/is. Having read and viewed a few of the articles about this case on that page you provided, I believe it is in the best interest of the child to remain with the adoptive parents. Having said that, I also believe that the father should have the same rights as any mother in similar situation, to reconnect with the child.

I stopped reading after "1. You commit a crime." Plea bargains don't care whether you committed the crime or not - in fact one of the big problems with plea bargains (if you know anything about the law) is that they sometimes appeal to people who are completely innocent. "Not sure what's confusing you?" ...uhm, no. The only thing confusing me is the "?" at the end of that sentence. Are you confused? A plea bargain is nothing more than a recommendation. Judges have the final say. As a lawyer, you may want to argue that but as a client, I'd just tell you to fuck off as I've done to other incompetent lawyers before you, (and one judge in his own courtroom during session, btw...believe it or not!)

After reading your post, I realized mine wasn't very clear. Apart from my obvious shout out! to the author, the bulk of the message which I was attempting (albeit incompetently) to convey is that, insofar as creating a need for MRM, the FRM has little to be proud of. The parents are not directly responsible. I agree, and said as much in my 2nd last post. "Blaming the parents is stupid." Relative to blaming the boys who pulled this stunt however, it is not. Can somebody tell me how women are underrepresented in the government? In this democracy of "he who screams the loudest" (or pays the most?), it is not so much a question of being underrepresented, as much as it is underrepresentation for the amount of chatter which surrounds violence against women. Men may be subject to as much, or even more violence than women, but they don't talk about it as much.

Ultimately, the family is responsible ... for raising their children. If 15 year olds do something stupid which costs others $$$, why is it that the parents are left paying the bill? BECAUSE they are responsible for their children... Likewise, they are responsible for everything the children do until they reach the age of "majority". Are you suggesting that this is not the case?

If Audrey Pott's family wants to sue anybody for this, they should sue themselves. Parents need to raise their children and provide them with some backbone. Every teenager goes through some type of ridicule and/or embarassment and its' up to the family to help them through it. In this sense, the Pott's family is responsible for their own daughter's suicide...a lot moreso than the teenagers who played the prank.
