Thank you for your support. I’m in a tough spot - would like some advice… My wife and I are young (I’m 32, she’s 30; no kids; no infidelity). She asked for a divorce in January because she felt like our relationship wasn’t what she wanted and had been struggling for 2 years prior to divorce talk in January. She’s from a small town a few states away, I’m from the city (we live in the city). She can’t make up her mind about what she wants in life (where to live, career, if our relationship will wo…

Thank you for sharing this. I just had an intro session with the therapist that I’ll be doing EMDR with. I am hopeful. I want to address my issues and heal; going into a new life with a fresh perspective and being better than I was yesterday. I wish you all the best, friend.

Taking it one day at a time…this experience does not excite me about kids one day, that’s for sure (at least from my current vantage point; things change all the time, so who knows?). I appreciate the feedback. Thank you.

Thank you for the encouragement. It means a lot to me, especially during this difficult time. Time to grind and live life. I wish you well, friend.

I was/am in a similar situation, just a bit further along in the process…have you heard of the book Hold Me Tight? I might be something you can recommend reading at the same time (but separately) to see if any of it resonates with either of you. The lesson I learned during my own stuff - don’t try to force it too much. Come at it with the approach of knowing that either way, you are going to be OK. The sun will come up tomorrow. It’s ok to be sad; process through the trauma; & Hang in there. Bes…

Thank you for the perspective and kind words. I’m sorry to hear that you are experiencing more pain from your divorce. Using your child as a pawn is a terrible move on her part and karma will run its course on her one day. I wish you all the best and continued success. Hang in there bud.

I hear you. We’re pretty much the same age. I turn 33 at the end of the year…the whole kids thing has shifted for me. Can’t even see a few years down the line yet to think about re-marriage/kids. What’s crossed my mind more is being a forever bachelor, for some reason. I wish you healing and good days ahead. Hang in there.

Sage advice. Thank you, I appreciate it. I am working on the things I want (and need) to be better on. It’s a long road and I am committed.

Yes, you are correct - it is much more cut and dried. Emotionally, I was planning on only separating from my wife if one of us passed. I took “till death do us part” to heart, hence the nervousness. It’s been a journey. Thank you for the perspective.

Great insight - thank you. It’s a journey of “seeking to understanding before being understood”. I do know for a fact she deleted it. Luckily, there isn’t infidelity in our relationship. My wife’s insecurities of not feeling smart enough or capable enough are what’s driving this. I did not help with a lot of my behaviors over the years - the side comments, the verbal jabs, easy to get frustrated, etc…I am working on ironing those things out for myself now. But I didn’t take the warning signs ser…

I did not initiate the divorce…after many months of giving it my all to no change, I have accepted the situation and decided to focus on myself. I have become my own source of happiness (I have my bad days, no doubt). I’ve gotten to the point of “either way, I’m cool with it”, as you mention. We are still living together and are cordial. Oddly enough, she deleted her instagram. Seems as though she wants to focus on herself and her journey.

We have some investment properties together, so there may be some communications after those are split up and dealt with over the next year or so. But other than that and a dog, nothing else binds us. The dog is staying with me & I put my foot down firmly on the ground with that. Thank you for the advice and perspective.

Thank you. Do you mean “learn what they really want/need” as in, for all women? Or the ones you date? They may be one in the same…in any case, any books/podcasts/resources to help with this?
