Not always. Sometimes people are taught the wrong definition of rape and make mistakes. "He was more drunk than me and that's how my school defines rape, so I must have been raped." There are MANY other reasons too, don't be so generalizing.

I wouldn't take this as a gender issue, there are many movies like this with either side cheating. Brokeback mountain is a good example (fucking hated that movie, two men are glorified for cheating on their wives and "being true to themselves")

I have no idea why they offered him that deal when he was CLEARLY innocent. I guess they like to keep their rape convictions up? It sounds like he had a terrible time in jail, and I can see himself being weak, wanting to see his kids, get out of there asap. Sucks that's how it ended up.

First thing I noticed too. A man's defense would have to be an actual defense, but when a woman is charged, the best defense is to say "well yeah, she did it, but she was depressed so its not her fault." Insulting to women AND a double standard.
